Hi, I'm thinking of putting this on my k90.
What does it play like?
Is is like gut?(well, nothing is like gut but is it similiar?)
Is it spin friendly?

There are 4 kinds of string: Gut, Nylon, Poly and Rip Control. It is a unique string. Soft, low power and decent spin. I can't think of another type of string that possesses those qualities. I like to hybrid it with a poly, because it does soften the stringbed up and slightly improves the feel, yet doesn't turn to mush or a trampoline.

The only downside is the poly will shred the rip control.

It's definitely worth it. In the crosses it will last a little less than your nrg2. You should get more spin, better control with less power.

I normally use rip control in the crosses and its durability is fine there. My new favorite hybrid is rip control mains and alu power crosses. It doesn't hold up in the mains. I am not a string breaker, but that combo only lasts me 5-6 hours.

when i used this on my babolat zylon 360 control, it was pretty powerful from what i remember, maybe because the tension way low in the 50's. and this was before i knew anything about strings

How does rip control control compare to PSGD as a cross string?

Will it fray easier than it, will it hold tension more or less than PSGD, different feel, etc?

RIP Control is one tough sonnuva*****... it has little feeling, you can whack it day after day and it will still be there.
And dont look for spin in this string coz it aint there. The reason some people buy this string because 1. it is a soft string yet lasts forever or 2. some do enjoy the muted feel (like how the n6.1 90 plays)

As southpaw said, it's totally different than anything else... so it wont be "better" than the Prince Syn Gut.

I'll take RIP Control over PSGD any day. RIP Control is my favorite syn gut and I despise PSGD with a passion. Somehow, RC doesn't feel muted to me as others claim.

Strange string indeed. I like it, nonetheless. I've played with strings that feel closer to gut before... but Rip Control isn't too bad. It's durable, and a little stiff at first. Give it an hour to break in and you've got the comfort of a multi and the durability and spin of a poly all in one. A lot of people say the string is stiff, harsh, rough, etc. but I find it to be one of the softer strings that I've played with. Spin is great, IMO. Give it a try... at only 7 bucks a set, I'd say you don't have much to lose.

Btw, though it's name is "RIP Control", I wouldn't consider it a control string... it's actually on the more powerful side. I would increase the tension 2 lbs, but that's just me. I strung at the usual 60 on my babolat pure drive gt... a lot of balls were landing long. Great string otherwise though.

I actually have my K90 strung with a full bed of RIP control 17, it plays kinda stiff the first 30 min then gets good feel and spin, but after 4 hours it loses the spin gets kinda mushy and its kinda hard to control from there, i string it at 52 lbs so after 1 or 2 days its prob closer to 48lbs I'm not a string breaker so the string lasts 3 weeks for me but i need to cut it out around 10 days becasue after that its like playing with spagetti they move everywhere and are very mushy

Agreed, the RIP Control doesn't bring the best qualities out ofthe K6.1 90. I tried it on my k90, horrible feel. Neutralizes the crisp feel. However, on the KPS 88, it is magic. I think RIP Control works better on softer feeling sticks. The term would be buttery sticks.

Is there another string with similar soft feel and low power? I can't find a place that sells RIP Control by the reel?

If you're referring to stringforum.net, I'm guessing they referred to RIP Control 17 as 17L because Head spec's the diameter as 1.20mm. The TIA has a table of standard gauge dimensions but manufacturers don't always use those guidelines. So one vendor's 16 is somebody else's 16L or 17. It looks like stringforum.net tries to apply a single gauge table to all vendors strings:
