Sad to hear the talented young actress Brittany Murphy has died after having a cardiac arrest. I will remember her roles in Sin City and King of the Hill in particular. Rest in peace...

Hollywood Mourns Brittany Murphy On Twitter (t) (From HollywoodLife (t). 20 December 2009, 1:05 PM, PST

When I die, I hope people mourn for me on facebook and twitter. I'd like to have an e-wake. People can type their sad thoughts in black.

That's too bad. I really liked her but her suspected drug use and skeletal frame do not make a good combination. R.I.P.

Really sad. Really loved her in 8 Mile. She really seemed like a nice girl. Had a great personality. Death at such a young age, especially in Hollywood, things are going to be suspected. Let's not speculate and wait til the autopsy results come. RIP.

Wasn't her husband taken off an airplane on a stretcher recently? They suspected "heart problems" iirc....hmmmmmmmmmm.....

I was just reading some old story's about Brittany (thank you Google) and apparently there have been rumors of cocaine use for several years now.

Yes, a few weeks ago on a flight back to L.A. right after Brittany was fired from a film she was shooting in Purto Rico. Simon Monjack seems to have a bad reputation around Hollywood and is often refered to as "Simon Con-Jack".

Very sad to have such a lovely actress and person die so young. I feel for her family and I believe her best work was yet to come.

What I find interesting is that the husband (a shady looking character with a bad rep) does not want an autopsy performed on her. I don't know. Me? I would want to know what happened to my spouse, especially since it is up to the coroner to decide.

They're saying she was hooked on painkillers that she started after having plastic surgery.

I guess we'll find out for sure in the coming weeks.

I think he already knows the reason of her death...

Holywood actresses over 30s very often have some issues with drugs and alcohol, especially when they get less and less roles.

They also said she was suffering from the flu and died in her vomit. It really depends on who "they" are.

I agree. But she has had at least one decent movie out every year since Don't Say a Word. Mind you, The Ramen Girl of 2008 wasn't her best work and she hasn't done very much since, but she has a few movies in post-production. I think she had it in her to go far still.

This one is not that surprising. To bad, but no real shock. She seemed like a major league train wreck. Cute, but train wreck. too bad she couldn't clean it up.

Can anybody give links to all these 'facts' that you are posting? I haven't read any of these reports, just the one this morning that she had been ill for two or three days.

People forget that she had been working steadily for the last few years as the voice of Luanne on King of the Hill, which wrapped up it's last new episodes in 2009.

Just do a Google search of her with other key words after her name, this is what I did. You will find all kinds of interesting things...who knows if they are true or not but this stuff is out there. And the husband seems to be known as being a real sleaze. Makes me wonder how a talented, attractive and fairly successfully actress could get involved with him.

I know how to do a Google search. You missed the point.

Believe me, you have seen her in films and TV. You are just not connecting the name and face.

Pretty sure I haven't. Just checked her IMDB and the only things I have seen on the list are Sea Quest DSV (about which I only remember Roy Scheider, because Roy was cool) and Frasier. And she was only in 1 episode of each.

Not seen Sin City or Family Guy or anything else on the list I don't think, and I don't recognise her picture or name.

She was amazing in Don't Say a Word and Girl Interrupted. She was also in Uptown Girls, Sin City, Just Married, Clueless, Little Black Book and 8 Mile. You must have seen at least one of these.

You make a very good point Fee. I don't watch King of the Hill and didn't realize she was one of the voices. Her voice is very distinct though and I'm sure it will be difficult finding a replacement.

Hmm, have you seen Happy Feet? It was her voice for Gloria. At least there's a connection. lol.

Actually, I watched that show for at least a year before I knew it was her doing the voice. She also did the voice of Joseph Gribble before he reached puberty, according to the photo set at Yahoo News. The voice actors for King of the Hill are just listed by name, not character, so I don't know if that last part is true but it wouldn't surprise me. Many voice actors can do multiple types of characters.

I've only heard of three of those. Sin City which I half watched a bit of before turning it off (I only really heard it as I was working at the time and it was on in the background, someone lent me some DVDs so I tried it but can't remember anything about it other than I didn't find it interesting) Clueless (girls film if I remember correctly) and 8 Mile which has Eminem in it so I refuse to have anything to do with it (same goes for his music, and Jim Carey films, yes even the self important love story directed by Michel Gonad.)

I'm too old for all that stuff (31), so no, seriously, I have no idea who this actress is nor any interest in her work based on the list of things she was in. Sorry she died anyway.

If she did any illegal drugs. That's her own business if she can afford it. But too sad, when one have fame and money, and die young.

Are you out of your mind? Of course we're going to speculate!

You're not too old. You just don't appear to be much of a movie fan (which is fine.) She's done enough different kind of movies that most regular folk would have seen at least one movie she was in. And she was indeed fantastic in "Girl, Interrupted".

Anyway, I was watching Saturday Night Live only a few weeks ago, and they had one of their actresses play Brittany Murphy as some sort of crazy and/or drug addled person. I found this odd at the time both because I hadn't heard of her much in the news lately and her name recognition was not particularly high as of late in my opinion, nor was I aware that she had some sort of public image as a troubled sort worthy of satire, so it struck me as choice of someone to imitate. Apparently the SNL folks were paying a lot more attention to such things than I was...

The second paragraph seems to imply that her working steadily means she somehow had her life in order or under control. You know who was working even more steadily than she was in recent years? Heath Ledger.

That wasn't my implication at all, I was merely pointing out that she had been working as the voice of Luanne for years and it was getting overlooked. I have no idea if her life was under control or not and I'm not stupid enough to make that kind of assumption.

Okay, let me see if I can do this with words of one syllable for you two.

If you wish to post 'facts' you should post a link to the source of those facts.

That was my point and it was directed to a person (or maybe persons) who seemed to be posting wild guesses and speculation as fact.

What sources really have the 'facts'? I first spotted an article on CNN that said she died of 'Natural Causes'. Then I find another site that says she had flu-like symptoms before she died. The only thing that can be agreed upon is that she died. Its too early for ANY source to have the facts, because the autopsy report hasn't been finalized.
