yup.. just clearly heard the guy saying his wrist injury is affecting his backhand
Its that bad BLX racket......it is just not as good for vib dampneing as the Kfactor..
It might as well... if Roger really injured his wrist, then what chance would he have had against Nadal tomorrow??.....probably double bagel.....

Or maybe it dampened it so much that he lost all feel and started using his wrist more LOL
This is just a blip, Fed isn't bothered with these small tournaments he is just using it to fine tune his game.
He'll still win the A.O even if his wrist is damaged
The commentators spoke about the wrist thing within the first 6 games of the match
It is amazing how Nadal's injuries are always bogus and a way to hide from being caught for doping, but Fed's injuries are always legit. It is also amazing how everyone else should just not play if they are injured but only Fed is allowed to play and use an excuse if he loses.
Roger has only once withdrawn before a match in between a tournament like that so I highly doubt it.But I think he would've lost anyway because I havent been all that impressed by his play in the first place and Davy has been playing really well. That's exactly why I said that he should have withdrawn, if it was already troubleing him before the match. Why take the risk of perhaps even making it worse in a Mickey Mouse-affair, with a GS only two weeks away? :?
I cant recollect where people gave that as an excuse for his loss.It was just Jason and Robbie saying this.We dont even know anything for sure and it sure as hell dosent excuse his loss.It is amazing how Nadal's injuries are always bogus and a way to hide from being caught for doping, but Fed's injuries are always legit. Can you please quote the post where posters have said that this is an excuse for his loss today? I've seen... NONE.
one of them said he saw Roger shaking his wrist/stretching his arm or stg like that during practice.Dont rem. the exact words.I did not see the match. did the comment on how Fed may have hurt his wrist? I wonder why roger did not at least tape it a bit. I had a wrist injury in my senior year and had to wear tape for practice/matches, it really helped.
It seems to be pretty cold out there because Davy was wearing a sweater yesterday and Roger was shaking his legs against Gulbis too. What is the meaning of "felt my arm from the cold?"
I'm not believing this wrist injury Federer was beaten simple as that. He talked about improvements in his game on his serve and backhand surprisingly. This match showed the total opposite.
He'll play as long as he enjoys the game and he truly does love tennis more than anyone I've seen.He loves everything about it.So if he's happy playing,I'm happy to watch him.I don't think Fed can improve his BH at this age. He managed to survive for so long because of his serve and running around his BH. His one-hander with the small head frame is always on the verge of collapse and put a little pressure, and it crumbles. He should have retired end of last year instead of prologing the agony. First he starts losing the finals, then the semifinals. He will now not make semis anymore. Why suffer like this?
Federer's backhand has been in a decline since the start of 2008. He has still managed to do deep runs in slams. I don't think his game is the problem anymore its the age which is catching up on him. He turns 29 this year which is scary because now federer is getting old in terms of tennis. On top the field is much stronger now and more flat hard hitters are stepping into the higher tier tennis. Before Federer could handle them easily but know he's a step slower and his game isn't as consistent as it was 4-5 years ago. He shouldn't retire if he still wants to play the game. We shouldn't get carried away here we still need to remember the Federer that we see in best of 3 and the Federer we see in best of 5. Federer isn't done yet he still has some gas in the tank might as well use it right?I don't think Fed can improve his BH at this age. Very likely Federer is going to start playing more and more S&V as he progresses in age. His serve is the only weapon that has gotten better (although more inconsistent) with age. His volleys last year were actually far better than they normally are, so I think we'll see alot of S&V from Federer this coming AO.
He did really well when he S&V in today's match. The problem is, he only did it when he got behind... then he went back to baseline bashing once he was out of danger.
IMO, he could have won this match today with more aggressive S&V play.
But if you look at the semi final match with Karlovic you can see that davydenko was heavily relying on the baseline exchanges to win him points. When Karlovic would put pressure onto him with the S&V during most points davydenko wasn't always hitting passing shots. IMO Federer would have at least taken a set and not have been broken quite easily if he mixed it up more often with S&V instead of when he needed to.I disagree. I do think he does need to S&V more, but it's an awful game plan against Nikolay Davydenko, who has some of the best passing shots and decent lobs.
Federer is 9 inches shorter, but idk, it may have been closer. But if you look at the semi final match with Karlovic you can see that davydenko was heavily relying on the baseline exchanges to win him points. Clearly his superior smooth elegant injury-free style of play is still causing injuries. First it was back pain, now it is the wrist. And reading this board you would think that it is only Nadal with his horrible technique and mere #2 ranking who would be prone to injuries.
Stop writing Federer off until the day he stops making slam semis.
This one will be remembered for quite some time IMO because its downright ridiculous. No one remembers those who makes slam semis a few years down the road. It's an impressive stat but useless/meaningless.
