I don't recall Drysdale, McEnroe or Connors threatening to "shove a f'ing ball" down the throat of a lineman, walking towards them, shaking their tennis racquet in a violent manner. I've seen many rants of McEnroe and Connors and none rose to the level of Serena at the '09 US Open.
Those who are trying to downplay it are morally bankrupt in my opinion.
You're such a troll, LOL. Most of us agree what Serena did was wrong and she got punished. Case closed. She apologized; admitted she was wrong and wrote the woman a letter of apology. She got one of the heftiest fines in sports history and has been placed on probation for a few years. So, she has all eyes watching her behavior now. There was closure in this incident, and Serena used this to win the YEC and AO and open a school in Africa. Meanwhile, her products sold out over on HSN. So, she took something so negative and used it for something positive. Everything happens for a reason. If Serena had lost to Kim without this incident, maybe she wouldn't have had something motivating her like all the negativity she was hearing from the media/racists/sexists/and other haters. So, everything happens for a reason and I truly believed this incident only made Serena more focused.
But, again, the Serena haters and Serena fans alike got closure with this. She was punished and fined for it. And, now, we move on. The reason why the 2003 hand incident and Justine's gamesmanship is brought up so much and will continually be brought up is because there was never closure from it. Not only did Justine lie and fabricate, she directly benefited from the cheating and then denied it even to this day. She was never punished, given fines, or anything else she should have gotten for cheating that day. So, there wasn't closure because Justine benefited from a henious act and denied she ever lied in the match.
