well after demo'ing this stick i am now on the verge of selling all of my sticks and going solely volkl pb10 mid. i have been wanting to go with a 93" stick as i feel my game is ready for a serious players racquet. always been a fan of prestige & radical and thought that the prestige mid would be my graduation present. so i sent off for some demo's of popular 93" frames:
- yonex rdis100
- head prestige mid
- volkl pb10 mid
- redondo c mid
- dunlop aerogel 4d 200 tour (95sq")
it was so difficult to demo any other racquet after first picking up the pb10. i played some doubles with it and looked like a superstar out there. i could literally press the auto pilot button at net and watch this stick do sic things to the ball.
i got a call from my previous season tennis team for me to join them for practice. i took the pb10 with me and man oh man its like my game got even better than my first outing. my partner and i trumped the competition 6-0 6-2. i hooked up with another partner and we smashed them as well. i did things with this stick that i was NEVER able to do. volleys were incredible. that is really where this thing shines - THE VOLLEY! and the control was insane. topspin drives hit right inbetween the opposition as they pressured the net. i hit another drive past the backhand shoulder of the net guy placing it through the small alley opening to the deuce corner for a winner.
that was just naming a few but i was pulling this stuff off all night. the control was really unreal. perhaps this is not so much a credit of the pb10 but more so credit of a 93"er...not sure. and i wont even talk about the spin serve. all i will say is that when you see the returner scream, "OH!" and jump back defending his neck with his racquet....wow too much fun!
anyway after taking all the demo's to the courts and hitting against the ball machine i narrowed my search down to the pb10, prestige, redondo. from that i removed the redondo which is a great racquet but is simply not as effortless a stick as the prestige mid and pb10. to be honest the prestige is very difficult to say no to but i have to be careful that it is not because of my allegiance to head racquets. HEAD ROCKS! ....em' now that i got that out of my system. the prestige mid was just too low powered. on smooth cuts at the ball, i just couldn't get the pace and depth i was looking for without put effort into the shot and i do not want to have to put big effort into every shot just to keep the ball deep.
the pb10 won out over the prestige. i have begun adding some lead to the top of the hoop and just above the grip to balance it off. i added 1/2 ounce of lead but not really liking what it did to my serve. my flat serve disappeared. to be honest the only reason why i added lead is because i normally play with 13oz racquets and the pb10 just felt light although it plays great. so i am not sure how i will go about customize this beast.
well the demo goes back saturday but i will certain continue enjoying this experience while it is in my possession. thanks for reading.
