Long-Lasting Poly's

I was going to hybrid a poly with a synthetic gut. Forgot to mention that! I didn't know if that would make it last longer than a full-job.

Just string it more tightly or use a thicker gauge.

Another option is to switch to NXT Tour which is stiffer than regular NXT.

Or, you could try Dynamite WB 16 and string it about 8 lbs more tightly than you normally string the NXT.

i used to use the nxt line, mostly tour...it only feels great right off the stringing machine and maybe last 2-3 times....

i made the switch to sppp about 4 years ago, and havent looked back since...

i have it strung about 3 times a year, and have one in my bag that is over a year old and it still hits nice!!

my son has three kblade teams strung with mantis power poly in the mains at 23kg and mantis power syn in the crosses at 22kg. as i can't get him to play a racquet until it breaks and he's switching racquets at every hitting session, it happens that some strings go over two months. i recently have hit a few with such a racquet (just to see if i have to cut it out) and it was still playing quite "fresh".
so, i dare say that the mantis power poly is not losing much tension after it has settled in. another string with a comparable behaviour is the kirschbaum competition.

I like Cyber Blue, Kirschbaum Competition and Spiky Shark. I can play all of those until they break. They do lose tension, but I think they stay consistent enough that it doesn't make a significant difference day to day.

I should also say though that for me two weeks is probably the most I can get out of a set of strings when I play somewhat regularly.

Are there any poly's that can last a couple months tension-maintenance wise by playing 2-3 times per week?

Almost all polys will last a couple months, but after 2-3 weeks every poly made will be dead and you'll have to cut it out anyway (or 6-8 hours for RPM Blast).

Perhaps the thread should have been titled, "longer lasting polys". When you talk about string playing time usage it might be more accurate to give us measured time in hours not 2-3 weeks. How is anyone to know whether you play 1x/week or everyday?
Signum's Tornado is a great example of a new gen. longer lasting poly, IMO. I get 12-14 hours out of it hybrided with a syngut for comfort and price which, compared to an older gen poly ie. Cyberflash is pretty darn good!

Even if you don't hit with it, the string will go dead in 2-3 weeks. It has been discussed many times on this forum.

so far i have not experienced strings going dead without playing. due to an injury timeout it happenend that i haven't played for three weeks - the strings lost tension but have not gone dead. for going dead i do think that you need to put the additional stress on it as experienced with every impact in order to slowly stretch it out of the elastic range.

An interesting theory but I rotate 3 frames with Tornado as a main and typically get 12-14 hours out of this setup and honestly can't say that I play better with a frame at the 2 hour mark over one at the 10 hour mark.
Poly strings, in general, have improved tension maintenance wise
so to say that they go dead with 2-3 weeks without playing is not my experience at all!
What do others say???

this player's poly selection are ones that play well for a good while. wouldn't use one regularly if it died in 10 hours. also rotate frames that are strung with different setups cause sometimes i feel like a nut...sometimes i don't.

my prince poly exp 17 string lasts for a month before tension starts to start slipping but is probably dead for a long time before that, but if you hit with the right technique and add spin, it will deffos stay in. also, it last for like 6 months straight with me ( I hit heavy with lots of spin when i'm on the base line).

but I guess you can string a few lbs higher so that you will still feel comfortable with he string when it drops some

I can get about 15-20 hours of good play out of a poly hybrid. Playing 4.0+ and hit the ball reasonably hard but more of an all court player. I usually hybrid with a multi or natural gut. Signum Hyperion, Signum pro plasma pure, and tecnifibre blackcode have all given me this level of performance. After about 20 hours the strings begin to move a bit more and the multi/gut has pretty much had it too.
