New sticks? What you swinging now days Xis?

------------------------

On a random note, Serena was looking fine in in that red dress on the broadcast. I know haters gonna hate....

VAMOS RAFA!!!!

Wilson K-Zeros; about the same size as my Triad 2s but more flexible. I can swing harder and get the ball deeper but still in the court. Serve seems to have a little more pop, too. Hard swings with those Triads put the ball about chest level on the back fence.

Ditto on Serena's red; also liked Venus' playing attire. She should come out with a male line. :)

Off to play the big, bad No. 2 seed. Watched him a bit yesterday in his mixed dubs match, and he has more weapons than yesterday's foe - and he can run a bit, too. Wish me luck. *crossing fingers and gulping HG tablets*

Cutting through the draw, 2 twmac members will battle it out 1 pm at college park in the final of a tournament. TFM vs Schapp.. may the man with a better haircut prevail!

P.S. I am still disturbed by Schap's Nike hat, adidas clothes and Asic shoes combination. More so than his Taylor Dent playing style

Low blows Sup, Low blows...I try to draw from the positives, it shouldn't be a big deal I was wearing asics, @ least I didn't show up in ADIDAS shoes....furthermore - My game is not like Dents - it's more of this - Sampras' backhand in 1984, Blakes FH, Sharapovas Serve (USO '09) and maybe Ian Pulter's fashion sense.

This one was from our tourney in July.

This is Tommy and I deciding which side he should serve from, naturally I'm pointing towards the beer tent.

Those are the new prototype racquets from Babolat we're holding!

Now see ... you're catching up to the TWMAC humor. I knew you could do it waterboy!

That's pretty funny.. are those prototype babolats head heavy?

The "man with a better haircut" comes from an old college coach.. saying it's a toss up pick for winner. Usually it was the freshman who would say " I think it's blah blah".. which would mandate him to dweeb the rest of the day.

As for Taylor Dent. What's wrong with Taylor. I got the .. you look like Dent.. then I get the you look like Nando.. myself. TWMAC members have slight cases of bi-polarism. I however was talking about your style of play..

which could mean..

1) Taylor at net +1

taylor_dent.jpg

2)Taylor taste in toys +2

3)Taylor taste in women +3 (actually I think yours is be better....woot.. but she was or is a tennis pro)

JRS,

Monfil's outfit still looks good. I am a bit bummed he isn't doing his victory dances like he had before. That would prompt your tsonga-monfils dancing avatars.

Super curious about the Nalbandian vs Verdasco match today. "may the man with the better haircut win". Sure Dats would say Nalby.

Speaking of Dats, I must of be spending too much time around him. I channeled his VICTORRR yell yesterday for court #2's third set tiebreak.

ESTERRRRRR!

Though Verdasco is the higher seed.. Nalby is the favorite on most betting sites.

Here is what they have to say.

Some of the other matches are much tight. David Nalbandian (pictured) is favourite to beat Fernando Verdasco, assuming his sometimes fragile body can hold up. He had a tough first match with Rik de Voest, so Verdasco should be fresher. He has a big forehand and big serve, but is not as happy on hardcourts. Its an extremely difficult match to call but Verdasco, as outsider, is value at 6/4

Nalby...a 'fragile' body?

This is a tough one to call, but I'm leaning toward Nalby.

I think AnaIvo and Kimmie are up today, too. Gotta go with Kimmie on that one!

Think the serves may be the key factor. what do think Dick endberg?

Shcap.. thanks for staying around and having a couple more beers. I promptly was the model citizen and went to my sisters house right after.. where I drank more. Waiting a little bit before we hit the bars.

I don't think I've played tennis in the last month or so without a hangover, being a buzzed or both at the same time. I could lose to a 5 year old in a match situation these days.

TFM and Schap played a match that is nice to watch. Two cool people playing each other in tennis on a good weather day. Laughing.. crying.. a little of both.

It was fun to watch.

Coming back from vacation is no fun, although I did miss my dogs. I like NY... I could definitely live there if my potential new job decided to send me there.

Anyway...

Rode the train up on Friday afternoon... train people were nice enough to give us the seats up front so we could have Rio and all our **** in one place. Got to the hotel and proceeded to drink at the bar and watch the USO on the TV (since our room wasn't ready yet). No biggie since they gave us free drinks until our room was ready.

USO Friday night session... my brother and I take the subway to Flushing Meadows, once there I make a bee-line to the Nike booth to get Sup's shoes. Get the shoes and the dude asks if I want to try them on and I say "no"... dude gives me a weird look and I go to pay, $217. (Sup had told me they were $130). Then we decide to go grab some beers and proceed into Arthur Ashe (Nadal vs. Istomin). **Side note** - -They put your shoes in this clear bag so everyone can see what it is you are carrying. Three different people asked to buy the shoes off me from the time I left the Nike booth, to the time I made it to the first drink stand.

On the way in to the stadium, my brother and I almost bowl-over this skinny chick and my brother is like "oh ****, that's Venus!" I turn to apologise, she smiles and continues to walk to the post match interview booth. First thing I thought was (she's not as tall as she looks on TV).

Grab some more beers, and get to our seats. After warm-ups, get more beers. After 3 all in the first set, get more beers... feeling pretty good now. Everyone is cheering for Rafa so my brother and I start cheering for Istomin and pretending to yell **** in Hungarian (or wherever the hell he is from). Apparenly people do not like you cheering for anyone but Nadal, which made us do it even more (that and I'm getting pretty drunk). We were relentless in our cheering though and by the second set everyone else had started cheering for Istomin as well (probably just because they wanted to see more tennis though).

By the end of the match we were cursing Istomin in Hungarian since he was blowing all his chances to take Rafa to a fourth set... match point, game over. Grabbed the damn shoes and on the way out was offered more money for them. In my drunken stupor I almost decided to put them on and wear them for the subway trip home (I didn't do it). We were packed like sardines on the train, I had some dude's ass in my face (literally) the whole way back. Stopped at one more bar for a quick drink and headed back to the hotel.

To be continued...

Saturday... get up early (thanks Rio and Mrs.JRK!) and go downstairs to get some breakfast. Get mugged by everyone in the lobby wanting to see Rio and pinch her toes, cheeks, etc. (are there no babies in NYC???). At breakfast the waiter is making the goo-goo face at Rio and then starts telling us something about Rio (the river) in Spanish. The wife and I have no idea what he is saying. **If you've ever seen the scene in Anchor Man where Will Ferrel takes the girl to the jazz bar and the Spanish dude starts talking about this saying from his village (something about drinking blood and wolves...) this is exactly how it was with this dude.

Start walking towards the subway station and on the way there happen to see this dude sitting by himself in the window of a Starbucks. I'm like "hey look it's Marat Safin!" I keep walking but Mrs.JRK (who is hysterical at this point) runs back to the window and starts waving, then she runs inside the Starbucks. She asks if she can take a picture with him... in a thick Russian accent he says "yeah, suurrre, et iz nooo problem." We take the picture and I have to pry Mrs.JRK away from him. First thing I thought was (holy f**k, he's a lot taller than he looks on TV).

Get on the subway and everyone is doing the whole goo-goo gaa-gaa thing to Rio. Some mariachi band gets on and starts playing and everyone is clapping and singing. Get to Flushing Meadows and the weather is nice (76 and sunny, breezy). Go through security and the screener is just doing the goo-goo gaa-gaa thing to Rio. I swear I could've being carrying a rocket launcher and just walked in while security was distracted.

Go buy a USO towel and sit down on the grass in front of Arthur Ashe. There was some band playing Hawaiian music and Rio and Mrs. JRK decide to take a nap on the grass. Success!!! I go grab a beer and proceed to watch some tennis. Stumble upon Gasquet and some Russian dude about to start on one of the side courts, and snag a front row seat. First thing I think is (Gasquet's 1hbh is not as fast as it looks on TV).

After the second set I decide to walk around and I stumble upon the younger Radwanska sister (Urszula) practicing. Watched her hit serves for a bit and then I turn around to see Elena Vesnina practicing on the court behind me. Watched her for a little while and then went back to finish watching the Gasquet match.

After the Gasquet match went back to see Mrs.JRK and Rio and decided it was time to go back... but not before we stopped at the Nike booth! Got some new shirts and then we left. Headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner.

Get all cleaned up and start to head downstairs for dinner. While waiting for the elevator this dude comes up and starts doing the goo-goo gaa-gaa thing to Rio. He tells me he loves to see a father holding his daughter and that it brings a tear to his eye. I'm thinking (whoa, this dude is f**king intense). Then I'm looking at him and realize it's Gil Reyes! Agassi's old fitness coach! We start talking about him and how he's working with Verdasco and Wozniacki. I tell him that Agassi is my all time favorite player and he tells me that it's too bad since Agassi and Graf just left that morning, otherwise he would've introduced me to them. He also tells me that he is the godfather to one of Agassi's kids (can't remember which one). We take a picture with him in the lobby and then he introduces me to his daughter who looked to be in her 20's... then we went to dinner.

Mrs.JRK went back to the hotel around midnight and I stayed out with my brother. Met some other friends at a bar where you pay $20 and you go into this ice room where you put on old Soviet uniforms and then you get to drink as many shots of vodka as you can, in 2 minutes. The rest of the night involved lots of drinking (I mean a lot) until about 4am... back to the hotel.

To be continued...

Wow JRK! Just Wow! Can't wait for part 3.

Speak of Agassi, I just started reading "Open." I'm only about 2 chapters in but I'm hooked. Based on the description of his father, it's amazing that Agassi didn't end up a psychopath.

Sunday... get awoken by a text message from my mom asking if Rio was ready yet <holy ****, it's almost 11am>. Look over and see Rio is still asleep next to me... Mrs.JRK is nowhere to be seen (apparently she went to get a massage). Get up and get the kid ready and meet everyone in the lobby. Get in the elevator and guess who is in there? Nadia Petrova. I say hello and she does the goo-goo gaa-gaa thing to Rio. First thing I think of is (damn that's a big girl) and then I picture her and Hwood wrestling in the pool, hahaha.

Go to brunch? I'm pounding water like there is no tomorrow and my brother is drinking bloody mary's (he also ate this burger that had a fried egg on top and then chili dumped on it). Eat quick so we can get to the USO... hop on the train and we're off. **Mrs.JRK/Rio and brother's girlfriend decide to go shopping on 5th Ave while my brother, mom and I go to the USO.

Get to the USO and the Nike booth is pulling me in like a f**king magnet but I resist. Go to watch some dubs (not sure who they were) but it was a good match. We had seats right behind the baseline so that was cool. While watching I noticed that serves 90-110 didn't seem that fast. Serves that were 120+ looked pretty damn fast though. After the dubs match, went over to the practice courts to see who was there... only Wickmayer, she's pretty ripped (not Stosur ripped) but she had some guns on her. Walked back towards the outer courts and I see Todd Martin walking in, cool.

While standing around deciding what to do next, I see this little girl come running over and she stands right next to me <she seemed to be looking for someone> then I realize it's Melanie Oudin. She is like 3 feet tall, and made my little Filipino mother look like Sharapova. I say hello to Melanie and she returns the greeting and then runs off. Then I felt weird 'cuz it was like I was a strange man talking to a little girl. Still standing around deciding what to do and here come older Radwanska and Kirilenko walking right towards me. They didn't have anyone around them (nobody seemed to realize who they were). I say hello to them and wish them luck on their dubs match (which is where they were headed). They say thanks and we follow them over to the court. We watch them play for a while until my mom starts b****ing that she's bored and that she can play better than them (my mom played in college). With my brother's help I convince her that she cannot play better than them. She says she's still bored and decides to go shopping for tennis stuff. My brother and I head to the beer tent.

While the mom is shopping we go to watch some junior matches. Some of the kids were good, others not so much. The girls seemed to be bigger than the boys too, weird. Then we walk around and see another women's dubs match going on. It's Benesova (her partner) and to other women. I don't know who the other three women were. My brother commented on Benesova being hot and I had to agree. **Note this was the only player I thought looked prettier in person than on TV**. Everyone else (Kirilenko etc. looked exactly like they do on TV). Watched there match for a while and then headed over to the grandstand hoping to catch Feliciano Lopez's match. Someone must've retired 'cuz when we arrived, the stadium was almost empty, wtf?!?! That's okay 'cuz we were able to score courtside seats for the Robredo/Llodra match. Watched that match (while drinking heavily) and did my trademark "whoooooooaaaaaaaa" every time someone challenged a call and pretty much every close rally. At one point Robredo actually complained to the chair umpire that we were being disruptive and we were asked to keep it down.

At one point there was a huge commotion behind us and we looked over and it was like a waterfall coming down on some people. I don't know if a pipe broke or what but it was a ton of water and people were just scrambling to get away... sucked to be them. Watched the rest of the Robredo match and then left the USO for good.

But not before stopping at the Nike booth.

FIN. :)
