Sunday... get awoken by a text message from my mom asking if Rio was ready yet <holy ****, it's almost 11am>. Look over and see Rio is still asleep next to me... Mrs.JRK is nowhere to be seen (apparently she went to get a massage). Get up and get the kid ready and meet everyone in the lobby. Get in the elevator and guess who is in there? Nadia Petrova. I say hello and she does the goo-goo gaa-gaa thing to Rio. First thing I think of is (damn that's a big girl) and then I picture her and Hwood wrestling in the pool, hahaha.
Go to brunch? I'm pounding water like there is no tomorrow and my brother is drinking bloody mary's (he also ate this burger that had a fried egg on top and then chili dumped on it). Eat quick so we can get to the USO... hop on the train and we're off. **Mrs.JRK/Rio and brother's girlfriend decide to go shopping on 5th Ave while my brother, mom and I go to the USO.
Get to the USO and the Nike booth is pulling me in like a f**king magnet but I resist. Go to watch some dubs (not sure who they were) but it was a good match. We had seats right behind the baseline so that was cool. While watching I noticed that serves 90-110 didn't seem that fast. Serves that were 120+ looked pretty damn fast though. After the dubs match, went over to the practice courts to see who was there... only Wickmayer, she's pretty ripped (not Stosur ripped) but she had some guns on her. Walked back towards the outer courts and I see Todd Martin walking in, cool.
While standing around deciding what to do next, I see this little girl come running over and she stands right next to me <she seemed to be looking for someone> then I realize it's Melanie Oudin. She is like 3 feet tall, and made my little Filipino mother look like Sharapova. I say hello to Melanie and she returns the greeting and then runs off. Then I felt weird 'cuz it was like I was a strange man talking to a little girl. Still standing around deciding what to do and here come older Radwanska and Kirilenko walking right towards me. They didn't have anyone around them (nobody seemed to realize who they were). I say hello to them and wish them luck on their dubs match (which is where they were headed). They say thanks and we follow them over to the court. We watch them play for a while until my mom starts b****ing that she's bored and that she can play better than them (my mom played in college). With my brother's help I convince her that she cannot play better than them. She says she's still bored and decides to go shopping for tennis stuff. My brother and I head to the beer tent.
While the mom is shopping we go to watch some junior matches. Some of the kids were good, others not so much. The girls seemed to be bigger than the boys too, weird. Then we walk around and see another women's dubs match going on. It's Benesova (her partner) and to other women. I don't know who the other three women were. My brother commented on Benesova being hot and I had to agree. **Note this was the only player I thought looked prettier in person than on TV**. Everyone else (Kirilenko etc. looked exactly like they do on TV). Watched there match for a while and then headed over to the grandstand hoping to catch Feliciano Lopez's match. Someone must've retired 'cuz when we arrived, the stadium was almost empty, wtf?!?! That's okay 'cuz we were able to score courtside seats for the Robredo/Llodra match. Watched that match (while drinking heavily) and did my trademark "whoooooooaaaaaaaa" every time someone challenged a call and pretty much every close rally. At one point Robredo actually complained to the chair umpire that we were being disruptive and we were asked to keep it down.
At one point there was a huge commotion behind us and we looked over and it was like a waterfall coming down on some people. I don't know if a pipe broke or what but it was a ton of water and people were just scrambling to get away... sucked to be them. Watched the rest of the Robredo match and then left the USO for good.
But not before stopping at the Nike booth.
FIN.
