I am meaning guys the serve and volley in 80% of the points like Stepanek and Llodra and deal with all types of returns time after time.

Can we stop with the squash players??

Just kidding, best SnVer on tour must be Llodra largely due to his good serve.

My top 6 list (current players obviously) would be like this:

1: Llodra
2: Stepanek
3: Navarro
4: Federer
5: Murray
6: Roddick (Yes, he CAN SnV, and when he does he usually has good volleys)

Not that players SnV much anymore..

Roddick's Volleys are a joke. Lets be serious. If they weren't maybe he have that ever so elusive Wimbledon.

Michael Llodra is clearly the best attacking/S&V player on tour. His recent success most likely inspired this thread.
It's not just because of his big lefty serve, that helps, but its because he knows how to cover the net, and most of all he actually knows how to Volley properly, he doesn't only hit drop volleys, like most people who don't really know how to volley do. (Nole, Davydenko) It may also be because he uses a full gut string job, which is more conducive to Volleying well

Watching Nole try to play a net game a few points yesterday just really demonstrates how Nole's volleys are clearly below the rest of his game, and how Llodra's volleys are clearly ahead of the current field.

He's beaten like 4-5 top 15 guys this year.

Stepanek does not serve and volley on anywhere near 80% of the points. By that criterion, Llodra is probably the only serve-volleyer in the top 100 right now.

Had really never watched Llodra play much. but have been impressed the last couple of days. Even before i saw this thread I was thinking he may be the best serve and volleyer i have seen in recent years, a real natural with a beautiful volley stroke.

It's funny to see that Llodra leads the poll because he's been playing really well in this tournament, but when Stepanek was almost a top 10 and had amazing matches in the same tournament last year, specially that one against Monfils(one of the best all year) in the semis, I think the poll results would have been different had it been done last year.
Throughout their careers and playing the same style I'd say Stepanek is better.
Llodra's serve is better, but I think Stepanek is more physically and mentally tough and he as well have more endurance.
Of course i like both, because only the 2 of them come up with great tennis to watch and are the best volleyrs on the circuit without a shadow of doubt.

Let's not forget Ivo Karlovic and Nicholas Mahut.

Of the lot Llodra is the best. His serve is very good and his finesse and touch are superior to anyone else that does it.

Yeah, I forgot about Karlovic, he's been struggling with injuries this year.

Mahut isn't even in the top 100.

Llodra is ranked 34 right now, will go even higher after this week. None of the guys ranked above him are serve-volleyers.

lol its so typical of this place (TT), all you purists finally have a serve and vollyer playing well, in the semi, and there is like 2 posts on the front page. I thought all of you peeps here would have the first page of threads about the great serve and volley display going on right now in Paris!!!

Mahut is certainly good enough to be in the Top 100. He's been cursed by a couple of heartbreaking losses this year - at Wimbledon to Isner and this week in Paris to Gasquet. How unlucky can one guy be? :)

Llodra is playing hot right now but Stepanek has had more success in the past.

Steps 5-1 H2H and the fact he has won more should be the main factors when you compare the two.

Murray S&Vs??? Not trying to flame, but he hits more baseline drop shots than S&V, which I don't think makes him a S&Ver. He is a counter-punching baseliner. Fish has better hands at net than Murray or Roddick, but none of those three really S&V enough to be called S&Vers, IMO.

Sorry, I meant Murray in a losing position on the fastest court of the year:)

Also, I may have missed out on some (or many) but you get my idea. When these players SnV, they're usually quite good at it (bar the natural ones, they're always good).

And yes, Roddick's volley's aren't THAT good, but occasionally he puts out some very good volleys. They're just overshadowed by the tsunami of bad ones. Frankly if you want someone who isn't good at the net, watch Agassi.

Another great match today against Sod.
To play the type of tennis He plays nowadays it is just too hard, but I am really glad to see that aggressive tennis He plays and such amazing shots and volleys he's been able to produce.

You know that Llodra has also a first name, Michaël?

He's very good serve and volley player. But I still am so sad about the loss of players of that type. Pat Rafter forever! :D

Llodra S&V has been amazing all week! Of course the very fast surface helps this kind of game. It was a S&V clinic yesterday against Soderling, perfect serve placement, followed by a perfect volley deep in the opposite corner. I wonder what would be his ranking if 50% of the tournaments were played on super fast courts?

Llodra..seriously the best S&V Ive seen since Edberg. He is in that class. Did you see those two picks at his feet for winners?

Federer, though I am a fan, does not belong there anymore. He transition game sucks and his net rushes are like suicide charges. I dont think I have ever seen him volley away a ball he couldnt have easily knocked away from the baseline.
