Why is the draw coming out so dang late!

2 days before the tournament starts? Gimme a break, is there anything else to discuss a couple days before the first Slam of the year...?

Yeah, tomorrow's the big day. Not much chance to discuss, but we got the weekend.

It always comes out this late. There's no reason for it to come out earlier -- it still comes out before it's even finished(i.e., before qualifying is complete).

I think they should wait until qualifying is done and then release the draw.

Since Australia is so much further ahead than my time zone... how many hours until they release/announce the draw?

That has got to be a joke, right?
Isn't the draw LIVE later today?

That Ireland show is 100% legit, and it's in conjunction with the most popular bookmaker in Ireland. They wouldn't mislead all the betters out there. We'll see how this draw goes, but if the Ireland report is legit and the AO organizers do a 'fake lottery' live, well I can only hope they are aware of the leak and decide to change the draw late

I'm pretty sure all slam draws are done on the Friday morning before the event starts.

US Open's draw is on Thursday. The worst is the French Open where matches start on Sunday (instead of Monday) and the draw is still on Friday at 10 am local time. Wimbledon is the same as Aussie: Friday draw/Monday start.

Thanks for correcting me.

If Murray ends up in Federer's half, Nadal will be accused of having a "cakewalk draw".

Come to think of it, Murray is nearly always in Nadal's half of the draw:

2010 US Open: Nadal's half
2010 Wimbledon: Nadal's half
2010 French Open: Federer's half
2010 Australian Open: Nadal's half
2009 US Open: Nadal's half
2009 French Open: Nadal's half
2009 Australian Open: Nadal's half
2008 US Open: Nadal's half
2008 Wimbledon: Nadal's half

So?

It's not that he also had Nole in his side too. And Nole spent most of the time at #3 and Murray #4.

I guess the ONLY question in the entire draw ceremony is, which quarter does Murray land in.

In other words who out of Fed/Nadal/Djokovic/Soderling will be the unlucky fellow to get Andy M in the QF.

Murray, Nalbandian, Davydenko, Delpo, etc.

Murray is by FAR the BIGGEST threat. Davydenko and Nalbandian haven't done anything at GS level. Delpo is coming off injury..

So it's Andy Murray, where he lands might well decide who will win the AO.

10 times quarters or better at GS level... so could cause a couple of paper upsets considering he is seeded outside top 16.

i hope nadal draws both murray and davy. he's gotten some ridiculously easy draws at slams the last 2 years.

but he'll probably draw verdasco, mathieu, etc.
