Im not buying the Vitaly the first math on some of that stuff.

A guy that ponds hoagie and doesnt exercise will need like a 300sq inch frame.

No arguments with minium weight. although 10.5 is kinda light for me.

and 37oz is kinda high for max weight. so why have the weight measurements at all?

Never drank vodka so I cant answer that one. but this one actually makes some sense.

I dont know the Vodka answer answer but that may actually be spot on.

Magma, I have tried all of those frames. And your Yonex is probably most similar to the Speed Pro in terms of playability and feel, except the Speed Pro IS SOOO SLOW to swing. Feel, spin, response, power, control, all are similar thoughl; its just the Speed Pro is a log to move around. The AST is a different kind of frame for me... less feel with that one. The response is such that I couldn't always tell what type of shot was coming off the frame. Sometimes it was what I expected, sometimes not. But not a bad frame.

Looks like i'll need some demo time ...

Vitaly the 1st found that 95% of players under 4.5 rating should be using
Head Radical OS, Fischer Pro One 105, Babolat Pure Drive 107, Wilson KBlade Team, or Yonex E-Zone 107. he was a mathematical genius and great prognosticator of future racquet names.

but nobody listened to Vitaly and he retreated to the mountains of Ukraine and went insane from drinking rutabega juice out of lead goblets. or maybe he was already insane.. hard to say. at the end of his days he would only mumble something that sounded like "dog op ol ov pret ty po ny tail" and people would snicker.

sorry mags, what was the question? i got a little off track. ooops

under 4.5? are we still taking about ;-)

JRS's Night:

-Head home from Tyson's corner.
-Crawl along Rt 7 for 1 hr to get to toll road. Crawl along toll road.
-Takes about 1hr to get form Whiele Ave to near Reston Pkwy on toll road (about 1/2 mile in distance).
-Dodge jackknifed Semi Truck (it's blocking 3 lanes.)
-Get out of car in middle of toll road to scrape off windows every 15 minutes (wipers can't keep up)
-Push stuck BWM out of the way (seriously, Toll Road was littered with stuck rear-wheel drive BMW's stuck in 4 inches of snow).
-Blow by stuck BWM's in 2000 Honda Civic SI (later suckers!!!)
-10 minutes later get to exit.
-Exit and crawl on local roads.
-Take back-way around to dodge traffic and blow through 2 ft snow drifts to avoid getting stuck.
-Push a stuck infinity out of the road.
-Pull into unplowed community and get car stuck in snow 20 ft from my house.
-Park in neighbor's drive way
-Get home 4 hours later...

and we have a winner ... me ... 7.5 hrs

Yeah..... I guess I actually got off pretty easy once I pushed those damn RWD cars out of my way... LOL!

BTW- Check out the specs of the new version of the head speed (Inegra). Seems they lightened them up a bit so they aren't as hefty or slow. Sort of like a Prestige with an slightly larger head.

Actually I got stuck on the Toll Rd exiting to Tysons corner meeting up a buddy at 3:45pm after selling my MGPP to one of your Nite Owl guys, S.W. I moved 50 ft in 3 hours time! So I pulled to the left and parked my car on the side of the exit ramp. I walked the 2 or 3 miles towards the 66 exit on Rte 7 where my buddy K was sitting for the last 3.5 hours. We finally got on 66 at 8:30pm or so after they got the sideways bus out of the way going up the hill. Didn't get home til 11:30pm after taking 66 > 28 > Toll Rd for K to drop me off at home before K went home himself in Leesburg... Suffice to say, it sucked ***! Went straight to bed. Picked up my car late Thursday afternoon. Been sick since. Feeling much better today though.

I think she needs to get that career winning percentage a bit higher. shes only 405-31.

On serious not I saw some dudes at the clooge here playing tennis in a wheelchair and those udes were really good. It was surprising me to watch them use the off arm to yank the wheel to get the torso turning into the forehands. I should have something to them but I didnt so they probably thought I was watching the freak show or something.

my wrist has this noticeable lump in it (and hurts kind of bad) -- it's actually about 2 inches up (in the direction of my elbow) on the inside of my arm...i wonder if i strained something?

Paulman - I think this gut hybrid is growing on me. Amazing pop and good spin and control. Decent durability so far, only some very minor fraying. Almost no string movement up to this point.

Starting to wonder how this would play with some poly in the crosses????

I thought you had Poly in the crosses. Did you with MT crosses then?

Ive never had gutM poly X's before. but from the X-1M and redcodeX's. the poly crosses will cut or saw throught the mains alot fster than when the poly is in the mains. But most of time when the strings finally do break the poly has that dead feeling anyway. Im sure string savers would help alot in that regard also.

The setup for me gives the feeling of the mutli with a bit more spin than a full bed. And it gives me a bit more pop than a full bed of poly.

I use 17g in both so maybe the 16 wont saw though the mains quite as fast.

No, PM suggessted I try something new.

The IsoSpeed is more like a multi.

I might try it the other way to, poly mains/gut crosses.

At this point, I'm just having fun with different string set-ups.

Its fun experimenting. If I played more Id probably start messing around with it myself.

As far as I go now its decideding if I want to use red code or black code or red or natural color X-1. I dont use all TF on purpose it just kind of worked out that way.

JRs, glad you like them! The tension was 55/61 for you. Isospeed recommends stringing the Classic at 10% higher tension, that's why there's that significant tension difference.

Isospeed Classic 17 was the string choice for Thomas Muster during his heyday. He used a full bed of it and strung it like 80 lbs. or something like it on a really dense 18 main Head Pro Tour midplus frame. Like Downs_Chris, he got tons of spin on his dense string pattern, so I'm not sure if it adds much to the spin. I think I've read somewhere that Head has Isospeed make the Head Rip Control strings to be similar but not quite on par with the Isospeed Classic.

It's a very unique string. Until you try it yourself, it's kinda hard to explain it. Its hardness index is BELOW that of a synthetic gut but, of course, harder than gut. The thing is, in the string bed, it feels like a really soft poly with lots of dampening feel. It's an odd but very nice string. It pairs extremely well with gut mains and surprisingly very well with poly mains too. With the gut, it's a lighter with more pop solid feel while with the poly it's a heavier and harder solid string bed.

Gut mains with poly crosses have never felt right with me but then again, I've only tried two or 3 different polys with the gut mains. They never quite matched up well.

Poly mains with gut crosses feel pretty good, almost similar to poly with Isospeed Classic but just a little less solid, almost like a better poly/syngut hybrid.

Thanks for the run-down PaulMan. Yeah, I've noticed that the hybrid gives a nice, solid string bed. Very little vibration/ping without an dampner. Good feel at contact with good pop. Found some forgiveness on off-center hits last night when hitting some lobs while stretched out.

this broken FXP prestige mid feels so good, possibly because it has a strange weight and swingweight.
the FXPmid = 12oz strung and feels like 320sw or less in 5/8 grip
when i bought a MG prestige mid to try to replicate it before, it was like 12.5oz and swung like a club.
i may need TW to weigh every prestige they have to find a bizarre light one... or i just forget about it since i never play anymore. i can use the broken prestige to shovel snow instead.

1. (3x) AeroPro Drive (original) leaded, Gamma leather grip w/ Yonex OG, 342-344 grams strung w/ MSV Hex 1.18mm at 63 lbs.

2. (3x) Pure Control Plus w/ Yonex OG, 333-338 grams strung w/ Spin X 1.23mm at 61 lbs.

3. (2x) Head i.Radical OS XL (27.5 in) leaded, w/ Gamma OG, 330-333 grams strung w/ MSV Hex 1.18mm at 57 lbs. I also have a Ti.Radical OS XL set up similarly.

ooh original Aeropro Drives! i never should have sold mine.

Hahaha yeah, I regretted selling a few of mine. I had 5 or 6 at one point. Gave 2 to my best friend. Sold a couple more to a team member, who is still playing with them. And kept one but lent to another good friend and recently picked it up to hit and came back to it. Had to go buy a couple off 3bay to up it back to the 3 I have now. Also had at least 4 of the Plus versions too.

I've never liked the Cortex version at all. Way too dead a feel and that weird rubber tuning fork vibration when you hit a little off center. The GT version is much improved - it's got about 65-70% of the feel vs. the original but it does have a bigger and more powerful sweet spot (doubt anyone really needs that though).

Dats, I'd play with the APD, then i.Rad XL or Ti.Rad XL, and then the PC+.

I used to love the PC+ but my hitting has regressed a little bit too much IMO, so the bigger APD and Rad OS's help me out more in consistency and pop. Still have a soft spot for them, that's why I'm holding on to them just in case I come back to them and regret that I sold them...again! lol

Nice! Enjoy your travels Sup! Totally jealous you're enjoying that nice weather down there in Florida!

Mid March, I'll be out in Vail/Beaver Creek, CO for a ski in/ski out snowboarding trip with some really close friends.

Hopefully soon, I'll get to visit my Air Force buddy down in Eglin AFB near Pensacola for some tennis and catch some red fish. He's got only a year or two left before he retires from the AFB after 22 years of duty.
