I just don't get it

Why do some on this forum say that Federer should just hang it up after losing to Djokovic 6-2 in the last set at Indian Wells, but then nothing is said about Nadal needing to retire when loses 6-2 in the last set to Djokovic, the day afterwards?

Nadal needs to retire.

There, I've said it. Happy now? :)

Thanks for the post. Not really the point. The point is why are people suggesting Federer retire when he is doing as well against Djokovic as Nadal is?

Well, Nadal still has the clay season to look forward to, where as Federer has only two tournies - Halle and Wimbledon, even then its not a lock, so might as well hang it up. :)

If we go by TW, Fed and Nadal should have retired at least 20 times each. Why analyze matches taking age, form, matchups and such things into question when we can create stupid threads to bait people and feel better about ourselves?

People are stupid, get used to the idea.

I like what someone wrote in another thread, something like "I though tennis fans were smarter/behaved better than the average sport fan. Coming here I realize I was wrong". And he didn't even visit MTF, which is a freaking latrine compared to TW :)

I'm playing devil's advocate here, I don't think for a minute that Roger should retire, but Roger and Rafa seem to be on 2 completely different trajectories - Rafa has won 3 of the last 4 slams, will be 25 on his birthday and looks safe to remain world number 1 for some time yet. Roger hasn't made a slam final in well over a year, will be 30 on his next birthday and has just dropped to his joint lowest ranking since June 2003. In other words, performance against Novak is not the sole criterion that the 'Roger should retire' brigade are using.

Because Nadal is a mug on hc, proof is he has only won 10 or 11 titles on hc... Never expect him to dominate on hc, it is not his thing. His thing are natural surfaces...

Fed is supposedly the best hc player ever. Proof is he has won like 47 titles on hc, including 9 majors on hc and 5 YEC... The fact that Nole has beaten Fed on hc 3 times in a row(twice at hc majors!), means Fed is not up to it anymore.. He ain't the king of HC anymore, Nole is now..

Because of Federer's age and the fact he hasn't won a Major in over one year.

So Roger should retire when the only player he has lost to this year is Nole?

Roger also beat Nadal at the WTF.

So should Nadal retire since he cant beat "old man" Federer (who should retire) and "on fire" undefeated Nole?

Federer is 0-3 this year against Djokovic and he lost the 10 USO in straights to Djokovic. Federer can't hurt Djokovic anymore. Novak has some of the best defense I have ever seen. He runs down so many otherwise winners.

The USO 2010 match I saw was a tight 5 setter with Fed not being able to capitalize on a couple of match points.

Nadal would've been 0-3 against Djokovic too if he had faced him three times this year.

People here are stupid and over react all the time, most ****s want Federer to retire so that he does not increase his losing record or his "image".

Roger still has a slam or two left in him, and face it tennis would be boring with out him.
