it's BPeeps...although Bleeps has a nice ring to it :)

My answer: because we all know what mr.miyagi did to those Halloween dressed cobra Kai kids. Xisbum starts with his blinding fashion, slices you up, then talks about Memphis BBQ. I rather be kicked by the flying crane.

Xisbum. Hope all is well. Let me know when I can visit Memphis.

Bleeps or bpeeps..lol.As the once 'el jefe' of this group, I can tell u we have few women but they make up for it with sass and tennis passion. Good luck and the state department will disavow this message if you can't drop shot or take a lemon drop like a pro.

P.s. I think I got a bit pink from the beach this morning. However I did party next to Wayne the train at a dive bar. I made sure not to take his drink ..but then again I could pull off a gasket like excuse.

Pink from the beach this morning...all I have to say is that I'm jealous (in a very good way) :) I'll have to get my sass on and prove I can hit a drop shot to get some cred on this board :)

Would it make any difference if I said the running joke was that I got a judicial clerkship, not for my legal mind, but because I could hit a tennis ball?

Y'all seem too much fun...I'd buy a round of drinks for you if we were in the same place :)

But why do I think you could totally school me in tennis and make me look bad on a court? Age means nothing!

As an aside...am I the only woman who posts in this forum???

No you aren't!

I got your email...just been preoccupied and playing probably too much. Once I get past mixed playoffs (for 3 different teams, aiy aiy aiy) I'll probably be around more.

They mean...can you run down the drop shot, not hit it, but I suspect you have little trouble with either one.

One of the reasons I recommended this place to you was to find a comrade for my good buddy Lady Topaz. She has held her own here against all this testy stuff, but she needs a strong wingman. You fit the bill.

You don't know how really old I am - and starting to feel. I've lost more knee cartilage than you probably weigh. These guys only hit drop shots when I'm around and they want to giggle as the Old Man hobbles after the ball. Brigham Young signed my marriage license. Dwight Davis taught me how to play, and I gave him a big Cup of Coffee in appreciation. He later told me that he found another use for that Cup, but I don't put much stock in that. It was just a big old tin cup.

Besides, I can't be a serious tennis player cuz once I find a racquet I like, I stick with it until it falls apart. Of course, when I started playing, the only choices were Spaulding and Wilson. Been a Wilson man ever since, although I still have a beautiful TAD Imperial Deluxe in my closet somewhere.

Wax on, wax off.

Richmond is a good tennis town.

Well right now they seem to be a good basketball town as well. They have two teams in the sweet 16. And if VCU and Ricgmond can somehow both pull off another upset. they will play each other in the elite 8.

Im sure that place would be going crazy at that point.

After the pallet switch, I have a feeling that P1 stands for Paulman 1 racket customizers - LOL!

Maybe it's lack of no sleep, but paulman's screen name usually reminds me of:

Ha..yes I can run down drop shots...even with a bad knee :)

Mixed playoffs, eh? Good luck!!!

Ok..you had me laughing at Brigham Young and Dwight Davis. I love your sense of humor, Miyagi-san!

Hw,

There is this sweet 1970-1972 el camino being sold up the road. I'll try to take a pic. Know much @ that car?

I knwo they built the early El Caminos off of Chevelle wagon frames.

Those late 60's early 70's El Caminos are pretty nice. Especially if you find an SS with a 396 or 454 big block. Most of the ones you see for sale probably have a newer 350 small block in there. But the good thing about the 350 is there are so many of them and parts are easy to find.

Actually you wont have any problems with parts on that El Camino becasu aside from the Body panles it basically a chevelle.

I almost bought on when I was in Hawaii

HW and Sup, you would fit right in the Memphis scene with an El Camino. Only other things you need are a Bud and a dip of snuff.

BTW, Sup, 78 today in Memphis, mid 70s the rest of the week. I can't want.

Yep. To both. We really do have sooooo many reasonably-priced tennis opportunities. The public courts are free, plentiful and in good-enough condition. And most of the Clubs have fees commensurate with the services they provide; you can go really high-end at the likes of CCV or Hermitage (with full golf courses and restaurants) or stick with more family oriented spots that often just have courts and pool(s).

Now about the basketball. We're kinda rollin' in it now. My dearest is a UR alum. We're huge Spider Football fans but obviously are stoked about the roundball boys' success. So many Richmonders (native or transplants) are VCU grads that the Rams are the de facto Team of the City.

As for me, I got my fill of b-ball covering it for my college newspaper. I was at NCSU in the Valvano days (albeit just post Nat'l Championship). Even back then, I felt sorry for The System. The crazy NCAA rules, how everyone -- coaches, athletes, administrators and alum -- all worked the system. Sad.

My tennis bio is less jaded. Played. Kinda. In high school. But I'd never picked up a racket til in Sophomore PE class. School board ordered our traditionally black school to form a tennis team...so they went out and hired the local country club pro...and she called all the gym teachers asking...who could actually keep the ball in play. Learned a lot of good stuff from her.

Drifted away from tennis during college to pursue racquetball (it was the late 80s and early 90s). Then got roped into some highly competitive volleyball. When that team got too old (actually, their kids got old enough to need parental taxi services), I picked up tennis again. Been playin' it ever since. Two brief layoffs to have kids. Then right back out on court.

Started out as a 3.0, am now a 3.5...on the cusp of being a 4.0.

Don't sweat much on the court (both literally and figuratively). Not much gets to me...as my main motto is...Even a bad day on court is better than bein' home cleanin' toilets.

Hope I can fit in...and hold my own. I'm tough. Having worked for 20 yrs in the Engineering and Computer industries before family...almost exclusively around men...trash talk means nothing. I can dish and I can take.

Love the banter here...and am only jealous I live too far away to jump in on one of y'alls "hits."

I sometimes drive near Richmond en route to the Outer Banks...does that count????
Absolutely!! In fact, I live very close to the I-95/I-295 interchange that you'd likely be passing by/through. I'm one exit west; the club I'm a member of is one exit east. If you could plan a two-hour stop...we'd hit the courts, you hit the shower...then proceed along to OBX.

If you ever get up here AQ, let me know.
Will do...but it'll likely be at least 2 years...til I can get both mine in real school. :) But ya never know. Thanks, indeed for the offer. I'd definitely be looking up some TT folks!

You're making me consider a short detour....if I can convince my OBX party of a 2 hour stop :) I'll work on it...headed there in mid-May. Can't promise anything because some of my family don't exactly appreciate my tennis addiction, but I'll try :)

I'd like to add something....

So, being as how I turn 40 in June...which coincides with that little thing called Wimbledon. After contemplating places like Vegas (been there, done that), New Orleans...I had the revelation that one of the world's most famous tennis tourneys coincides with my bday...so I've decided to indulge and blow my tax refund on a trip to London. I figure I can easily get grounds passes (I am willing to stand in line insanely early, make friends, and bring some smuggled adult beverages)...and maybe even get show court tix, although I'd be happy with grounds passes. I'm trying for the early rounds.

Is anyone going to be there from TWMAC? I'd love to meet up and hang with people :)

Trust me, this is a total splurge...but if you can't do it to ring in (or mourn) 40, then when can you? The more the merrier...if anyone is there, meet me in a pub and have beers with me to commemorate the occasion!

Depending on the age/interests of the traveling party, I can perhaps suggest some options to keep them entertained. Kids (an indoor playground, complete with 20' high inflated slides/obstacle courses), guys (Bass Pro Shops & Gander Mtn) and gals (mall, shopping) are all literally within minutes of each other.

But I hear ya on the friends and family not getting The Addiction. Still, should you ever find yourself stuck around here, help's not too far. :)

@Peeps. You need a different tax accountant. If your refund is that big, you're paying too much over the course of the year. Personally, I don't want those DC-types to have my money any sooner than they absolutely have to. :p

Oh wait, this is mostly a DC-type thread! Doh!

And, shhh, I'm having a torrid affair with my tax guy. Since my kids have the same eyes...glad I married him too. Hehe...

But I like a nice big check every year...it works out perfectly for scenarios like a trip to London because I don't miss it during the course of the year (yes, yes, I know the concept of giving the DC types.....(DOH!) an interest free loan, but you know....

A torrid affair with your tax guy, huh? It would sound a lot more sultry if you hadn't married him...but at the same time, happy for you as well :)

On a serious note,

Thats awesome youre going to Wimby. I would go but my tax money is going on Mulch, a new toilet, ne plubming, lawmower maintence, a new top for my International scout, new shower faucets, plants for my flower beds. I may buy a couple more golf frisbees a new pair of diadoras or lottos and a few other trinkets.

But hopefully you have. I would never have the courage to just go somewhere by myself. I wouldnt do anything but walk around, look lost and refuse any help offered.

Thanks to Auzzie for the hit. My arm feels like it's going to fall off ;)

Male insecurity?

Get a couple of women on here talking and suddenly everyone goes uber manly (questionable as whether star wars constitutes manly but I'll buy it)....next you might want to try some belching and burping. :)

It's endearing, actually. Keep it up, guys :)

It was actually just an excuse to post pictures of JO seasoning, crabs, and a huge vette some redneck drives.

I was laso expecting sappy to mention me and lesbians but he let me down.

WNBA sucks almost as much as ESPN playing womanes NCAA tournament games all day. We all now UCONN is gonna win, unless that Baylor girl that sounds like a dude when she talks blocks 30 shots.

Im too lazy to change the channel so i end up knowing about this crap. And yes I know by not changing the channel it helps the ratings and ends up keeping it on the air.

I guess its my nice deed so chics all around the USA can watch womens basketball.
