Wide Shoes With Good Durability

Hey guys Ive been following these forums for a while but I never got an account til now and i decided to get one so i can finally ask people that might know their stuff about their opinions. SO im a junior player in the 16s and ive been playing with NIKE 2k10 because they feel great but they dont last long enough!! I havent tried the Nike Lunarlon Vapor 8's but I hear they are pretty wide as well, and last longer. is this true? how do the courtballistec 3.3's compare. I had the 2.3's and they wernt too bad. The barricade 6's just really hurt my feet where the vertical line is, if you know what im talking about. Any help? how are the big shots, propulses or any other shoe?

sorry guys i feel like i didnt make it very clear but i have wide feet and thats what type of shoe im looking for. I heard that the nike 3.3's are pretty narrow in the toe box but if i break them in enough maybe ill be fine? can i get ANY insight?

+1 for the propulse 3's.
they're wider than the 2's and a little bit softer as well so they'll stretch out a bit to fit your foot better, foot straps, while they look gimmicky are actually pretty helpful too.

The 3.3 are def a little wider in the toe box than the 2.3, and they're said to have a "horrible" break in period but if you wear them around and twist/stretch them like Nadal before you play you'll be fine. They will last you awhile too, about the same as the 2.3 probably. The Vapor 8 are def wide foot shoe but they won't last nearly as long as the 3.3. Their width is about the same as the 2K10s. I'm strictly a Nike shooter so that's all I can offer, hope it helps

great, thanks a lot guys. really does help, i think i might try the 3.3's and if they are too narrow i guess ill have to go back to my barricades or maybe try the vapors. the issue is that summer is coming and im going to be hitting the courts around 5 hours a day. oh well, thanks anyways

Prince T22's are known for their roomy toe box and catering to wide feet. I really like my pair. Do a search of these threads about them. Tehy're pretty popular.

DO NOT GET PROPULSE 3!!! the cell shield doesnt protect anything... dirt gets stuck in there and if you slide a lot, then a hole will form in 2 days

I've tried on T22s numerous times and I've never found them to be roomy in the forefoot.

I don't know why so many people think they are.

Maybe they would have felt roomier if I bought them and broke them in, but I didn't want to take the chance.

Do not get K-Swiss or Wilson. I have found NB and Nike to be too wide personally. Clunky as a matter of fact. But I have a small narrow foot. :twisted:

I wear size 4E New Balance shoes that last awhile. Most of the time, the tread gets so worn down from playing on clay that I start to lose my balance and then they become my walking shoes after that.

I would recommend going to a good shoe store to determine exactly how wide your feet are since "wide" is pretty vague.

If your barricades are causing you discomfort you may need to go to wide specific shoes. The only shoe brand I know of that makes wide specific tennis shoes are New Balance, that I know of. Wide feet people are just too small a demographic to make money on.

I have a 2E left foot and 3E right foot. I'm currently wearing the NB 1187 and they are not clunky or ugly like the previous versions of NB shoes that everyone is accustomed to. They also have a 1 year outsole guarantee. I posted a review about them in this section a week ago.

Again, I would get a good measurement of how wide you feet actually are. If you're lucky you can squeeze into other brand shoes per the recommendations above, if not, you may be stuck with NB like I am.

I'm curious to see if the outsole will really hold up better than the 1004s. I'm guessing that it's just a marketing thing to make us feel like the 1187s are superior than other brands. Not a bad idea because NB is at the bottom of the list as far as asthetics and performance but seem to be coming around with the 1187s.

It has only gotten up to the mid 70s her in California so I can't attest to the ventilation portion. But just by looking at the shoe, there is not much mesh except for a small section near the middle/back on each side. The front portion is all plastic. The tongue is mesh though.

I also have a 2E left and 3E right foot, and wearing NB 1187 2E. I really like 1187, especially after about an hour of play. 804's 2E was a bit too narrow and 4E was a bit too wide so I'm quite happy with 1187 so far. I hope 1187 lasts more than 2 months.

After about an hour break-in, the 1187 is absolutely my favorite tennis shoe ever. Just enough cushioning with incredible support and traction. Best shoe I've worn EVER. Going to get another pair in navy.

Yes, that's the big question. How long will these $119 shoes last. I have everything ready to send back to NB for another pair though.

The outsole does feel harder/stiffer than the 1004s though.

Yeah, thinking about getting another pair, but still have a pair of 1004s. Not looking forward to get in the 1004s now. It will be like the equivalent of driving in a boat. haha

Do you always send NB shoes back to NB? I was told by NB customer service that I could only send one pair back to NB once, even if I buy a new pair. Here's the response from NB:

I've only returned 1 pair of NB shoes.

I've read that other posters were allowed to return more than one pair of shoes to NB if the outsole is worn out. Though I think this was after buying a new pair of NB's and then returning it.

I've got wide feet and I'm finding the Prince T9's pretty roomy. They have a 6-month durability warranty, and are a bargain at $50.

Thanks, TW told me that they could provide a warranty service (outsole guarantee) for NB shoes.

I've tried both T22 and T9 but they were too tight. NB seems to be the only option if you really have wide feet like >2E.

I've just received replacement for the second pair from NB. I returned 2nd quality 803 from the outlet (was really cheap) and getting a new pair of 804! I hope they can accept the third one, 1187 without a problem (or else TW).
