Kei Nishikori- new racquet

Japan is very big on buying the latest and greatest equipment (certainly in skiing and other areas). Maybe the marketing guys are doing it intentionally.

I'm lost! Sick looking frame but whats the deal? Fedace again making some very funny comments!

Well, as Fuzzball7 said it's the new Tour 95 pj (see link to Kei's blog), but the BLX Tour Lite is actually intentionally short (from product description), so I guess Fedace was not joking:

"With a shorter, 26.75 inch length compared to a standard 27-inch long adult racquet, the BLX Tour Lite is the perfect option for smaller players, younger players and those seeking maximum mobility."

I was at that match! I do not about the racquet itself but the PJ is exactly like the Tour but instead of blue is gold (orange??). ON another note he has the fastest headspeed of all the player I have seen, I we saw Blake too yesterday, it is amazing to see.

So Wilson is just going to sell the same racket with a new pj 13 months after the original came out, thats just of order.

Why is that out of order? You´re not forced to buy it, are you?

Perhaps they´re looking to emulate the marketing succes of Apple with their yearly updates.

I was at the tourney yesterday too, I only briefly saw Nishikori but I was wondering about his racquet, as it was one I hadn't seen before. I was mainly at the stadium court, but I came over and watched some guys practice, namely Mardy Fish. The Harrison-Zeballos match was pretty fantastic.

I think apple are disgusting for it tbh. I just think they should stick to how they are with other rackets, the six ones and blades get 3 years. I dont buy or use Wilson because of who uses it, no one uses my Volkls!

Cool! we had night tickets but got to see the end of the Harr-Zeb match. The Argentinian was very lucky and he was hitting all the lines, going back tomorrow for the day session, it should be fun, I think Nishikori is playing again tomorrow, will try to get closer pictures of his gear.

I think paintjob upgrades will be the new model for racquet companies-babolat has been doing it for years, surprising that it's taken other companies as long to get on board. Think about it-before cortex, babolat basically had three real racquets: pures storm, drive, and control, with no new technologies for years, just paintjob upgrade and maybe an additional version (98 and 100" versions of same racquet, pure drive oversize) . They did it again with the Apdc and now with the pure storm gt. Has to be cheaper to just change paint and add the occasional "lite" or "team" version than to spend $ on R&D to find the next "lightest and most stable compound" that doesn't really affect the way the racquet plays. And honestly, we're dumb enough to buy the new paintjob over the old one even though the same stick is underneath. And when they do put out a new technology, we'll buy that too.

Hahaha I heard, I'm going for the finals.

That racket is Short racket. It was deliverately designed to be Short in length for more control, i think. NOt sure if there is a market for such a frame ?? LOL

Gee!

Who on this thread, took ridicule, because I said I have been shortening racquets for decades? Including my students.

Hey! Read this. Right from the ad.

"This extremely maneuverable and spin-friendly offering from Wilson is the lightest offering in the Tour line. With a shorter, 26.75 inch length compared to a standard 27-inch long adult racquet, the BLX Tour Lite is the perfect option for smaller players, younger players and those seeking maximum mobility.

Please, more condescending remarks.

I was hoping it would be in between the Six One 95 and the BLX Tour. I think there might be a market for the BLX Tour shape but maybe 11.7oz strung. 4 pts HL. Bring on the lead tape, I guess.

Federer-going-downhill aside, the BLX line isn't as great as the KFactor line. I'm sure Wilson realizes the need for new paintjobs because of their lack of sales, but come on, at least give us a new product and not just new paint.

lol, I was just commenting on how ridiculous Wilson is when it comes to their new gimmicks/paint jobs for the general public, that was all. :) We just love spending.
