Which American will have best result in Wimbledon?

It's basically between Roddick and Fish, but it looks like Roddick's draw is more promising.

As a comparison

Roddick plays:

1: Qualifier
2: Hanescu
3: F.Lopez - could be tricky, but not that bad
4: Monfils/Karlo/Janko
QF: Murray(probably Rod's best chance to get to the Semi's)

Fish plays:

1: Granollers
2: Kohlschreiber
3: Verdasco/Stepanek/Haase
4: Berydch
QF: Nadal

I think it's pretty clear that Fish has the tougher draw....

I'm also not sure if you reversed their draws it would matter....

Fish may be in decent form, but he's never made it past the 3rd round....

actually while Andy has the easier draw, you can argue that Fish is in the best form he's been in....and that he could be a dangerous floater.

Would be great for American tennis if these two could somehow make the SF's against each other...winner get's the highest American ranking

Either way, I would like to see at least one of them make it to the QFs. The U.S hasn't been represented well in a while

I am hoping Ryan Sweeting makes the third round, that would be great. :)

Would be nice, but I think Sweeting may not beat Andujar in the first round...

I guess we shouldn't completely forget about Isner, even if Querrey seems like a lost cause....

Jonh Isner has achance if the Mahut match doesn't go 71-69. If it goes 70-68 then he will be fine, i mean he's done it before.:)

No way Fish will get through Nadal.

Roddick can get through Murray though

Well, the likelyhood of them both getting to Nadal and Murray is quite low...I mean it's probably more likely that they both lose before the QF's then both get there...

I think Fish will lose 4th round or before and I think Roddick will lose to Murray....but would just be ecstatic if he even got there and moreso if he gave him a good run for his money...

I dont see either getting past the quarters. Roddick could make the semis if Murray is upset though. I dont see him beating Murray at Wimbledon again this year. Roddick has a good enough draw he should make the quarters but on current form he could also lose earlier to someone like Lopez, Tipsy, or Monfils.

Fish has no shot at going the quarters. His chances of beating a healthy Nadal on any surface is zero, he doesnt have the mobility, mental toughness, or weaponary to pull it off. Even making the quarters will be tough. I would favor Berdych over Fish on grass. And Haase, Stepanek, and Kohl are all dangerous to him.

I would say Roddick is the one with more chance to do better but it is quite possible they lose in the exact same round. Very small chance of Fish going farther.

Is Donald Young in the main draw this year?

Yes he is, he is going to show his superior athletic ability developed from the USTA's new program which puts more emphasis into physical training and less into tennis skill.

Thanks for your very detailed answer, would you mind commenting on the US policy in the Middle East and perhaps shed some light on the JFK shooting while you're at it?

I am honestly only doubting the Isner result, just not sure big John will get that far.....maybe it will depend on how long Isner/Mahut II goes..... :?

Anyway, otherwise I think you could be bang on about this

Oh yah, Donald Young....forgot about him...whose he playing again? Is he actually touting being in better shape?

Regarding Roddick he is in fantastic shape, he needs less road work and more work on the court developing his shots...

For some reason I get the feeling the Isner is going to roll mahut this year.

Ouch! 5th Set Heartbreaker

What happened to Ryan Harrison? Did he even qualify

Hope this isn't scrubbed as a "Spoiler" but Harrison fought back from 2 sets down on Thursday to force a fifth set today, got another rain delay at 5-6, came back out and was broken immediately to lose.

Re: DYoung...he is in main draw and plays for the "I beat AMurray in straight sets" championship vs. Bogo. If the draw was rigged, the winner should get Murray in the 2nd round!

Isner has really good prospects this year. His performance last year against Mahut and his 5-set epic match against Nadal this year show promising results ahead.

Yah Isner may be the forgotten man in all of this. I think I am kind of over looking him myself, and realistically with that serve, improving all court play and experience you can never count him out

A couple years ago he beat Roddick at the US Open...there is no saying that he's not the more. Dangerous of the two now.

I know it was only Queens but I find it hard to think Roddick could beat Murray at Wimb after their match there, Murray destroyed him.

Yes, it was a clinic. I see the same in store for Roddick at Wimbeldon. I don't see any Americans making it past the quarters.

Harrison in as lucky loser

Thank god, he was looking great until that last rain delay threw off his rhythm. Nothing worse then sitting inside and then coming back out to serve to stay in the match after being cold for so long. Hope he does some damage here.
