OK, I ordered the KSwiss white dress. Against my better judgment, though.

I am worried it will be too long. The last KSwiss dress I bought had to be hemmed, so I assume this one will also need a hem. That adds $20 to the price -- maybe more given the gathered hem.

I also ordered the cool new Nike one. It is fitted in the mid-section and then looks kind of A-line, so that might be perfect for me.

I am very, very worried about the bra situation with it, however. Check out the back. Unless the shelf bra can do the heavy lifting, it probably will have to go back:

Look how amazing it looks on Azarenka:

Which dress are you wearing July 3 Cindy? ;)

THUNDERDOME!

Do you ever wear the Adidas dress for your matches (the one we both have?).

I wore the pink adidas for singles for my 4.0 team, as pink is our team color.

Haven't decided on what to wear for our July 3 smackdown. It depends on exactly how big my butt is that day.

This K Swiss dress is awesome

Well. The two white dresses came, and I am really torn.

The KSwiss is very nice. Good fabric, fits nicely. It would definitely need to be hemmed, though. It is very heavy because of the extensive pleats at the bottom. Having it be long and heavy is no good. I think it would be cute if 2-3 inches were lopped off the bottom.

That said, the Nike dress totally rocks. The open back is a dream come true. See, I actually have muscles on my back. No really, I do. And they all look pretty nice in the back of that Nike dress.

Alas, there is a problem. I couldn't very well slap a huge sports bra on that open back, could I? Which means I would have to "go commando," relying only on the Nike built-in Non-Bra. Boy, I dunno. There's a lot of anatomy showing, and I have some difficulty filling up the cups. Is there any solution that might work?

I may just go with it. I have a friend from France, and she has no trouble at all having some anatomy showing through her little tops. What's my hang-up?

I have to say, that cute little hem, that fitted waist, that billowy skirt . . . that is a terrific little dress.

Okay, maybe this is getting a bit up close and personal, but you might feel better having your tailor/seamstress tack some soft cups to the make-believe built in bra. Not Victoria's Secret type molded things, but some soft removable liners that you see in bathing suits. Modesty can be dealt with. Needing support is a different story.

I wish I could get away with using the flimsy built in bra, but alas...ample cleavage.

Gorgeous dress!

Errr...Ummmm....

Nice dresses! :) I rarely see players here playing in them, given our extreme temperatures!

Now if I could only convince my girlfriend to start playing in them....

Sometimes the easiest solution is right under your nose.

I modeled the Nike dress for my daughter. She loved the back. She was a little queasy about the Commando problem. I wasn't filling it up, and it was too sheer. Curses!

Then I remembered that I have a bra I regularly wear that is similar to my skin color. Conventional straps. I put it on under the dress and it was perfect. The straps work under the dress straps, and the bra cup fills up the Nike Non-Cup. Huzzah!! Now I need to wear it once to verify that the length works. It feels a little long, so I may want to hem it,

As for the KSwiss, daughter loved the top, but she didn't like the pleating on the bottom. Thought it was too heavy. It feels heavy when I wear it, so I will send it back.

I think I will debut the new white Nike on Saturday!!

Oh no, here we go again! I am out with an injury for another month and a half at least, until my high school season and have been out for over a month and a half already... so unfortunately for my bank account buying tennis clothes in hopes of wearing them is the only way I feel into the game.
I'm thinking about getting the Nike that Cindy just reviewed, but in blue. It's SO cute! The fitted-ness under the bust looks like it would actually work nicely.

Hey, thanks!! I get a lot of compliments on it.

Now I'm playing senior mixed and ladies seniors. I wear dresses a lot for seniors. Because I can!

I am new to this discussion. Which websites do you purchase most of your tennis apparel?

I buy things here. TW has the best selection. There is no brick and mortar store that carries a selection of dresses in my area.

Anywho . . .

I am head over heels in love with Serena's US Open Dresses.

Did I mention that I have a new policy that whenever I advance to Districts/Sectionals/Nationals, I get to buy a new outfit? Yep, that's the rule.

In honor of playing senior sectionals, I have ordered this:

NWASHCD-1.jpg

My concern about it is the side view. See how it fits like a sausage casing and then shoots off the hips? I'm not sure I could leave the house looking like that. What I might need is to have it shortened at the waist, as there is a seam below the breasts. Then it would fit me about the way it fit Serena:

What a disappointment!

This dress isn't "Scarlet Flame" or whatever they call it. The thing is pink.

I don't want a pink dress. I want a screaming red dress.

I'm sending it back.

i never see girls with dresses where i hit. i dont pay attention though

Hi zapvor. Most girls in our area have sweats and t-shirts when playing. But wow, they are serious about tennis though. I think someone will do well opening up a tennis fashion shop in washington dc.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I've been playing tennis for a few years now and recently started wearing tennis dresses as opposed to a tank top and a skirt. Just wondering - do you guys have problems with the length of a tennis dress as compared to a tennis skirt? I've bought a few Nike dresses and a Reebok one, and I have an Adidas one that someone gave me a couple of years ago. They're ALL slightly longer than my skirts. I know this because the dresses end below the tanline that I've gotten from my skirts. Is it just me? I'm wondering if it's because I'm Asian and thus shorter than the average...non-Asian? (even though I'm taller than most women.)

In the end I altered one of my Nike dresses (Sharapova's blue dress from earlier this season - she wore it in Miami).

Bump. Searching for something "tennis" to put on the Christmas list because the Crew is so used to buying me some tennis outfit. Sadly, and how can this be, my tennis clothing bin runneth over. With things I love! Even playing 3+ days a week, I still couldn't wear them all in a month's time. Ok, well, mostly because the washing machine works daily around here and stuff gets clean quick!

Thought I had an older style Maria Lawn dress on that auction site but, while titled correctly, it's a newer model.

Still, it was nice to reminisce about some of the dresses of the season.

Here's hoping Santa brings each and every one of you something nice.

Bump! I absolutely do not need more tennis dresses... but this one went on sale, so I tried it.

I got it in a medium, but it was way too big. The shorts fit and the bottom was ok, but the top was a sack. Also, the contrasting shorts were adorable, but the white bra was just kind of sad and too loose. Le sigh.

OK, TW (and Adidas)...where's the female version (dress, top or skort) of THIS....

AMSAC-RD-1.jpg

I'm tired of pink and blue and white.

I'm like Cindy. I want screaming red and blazing orange.

This is somewhat of the same color family...but c'mon. Boring lines across the chest and a bland wide border at the bottom. And the bold orange is just washed out by the main "peach" body.

It's actually more of a complaint thread for me. (Warm-up) Pants without pockets, ill-fitting tops (for the very small or very large), horizontal lines in the Wrong place. Boring plain colors or weird combinations. I have to wonder if the people who design this stuff ever wear it or, better yet, play in it.

Sorry, 'Nox. Were that it as easy for us as the guys. Pair of shorts & any old t-shirt will do. Believe me, there are days when I've played that way...and maybe I should just go back to it. Be my own form of Protest for the Year. Tennis dress, be dammed!

I understand.

I secretly dream about one day striding out on court in my extremely comfy and perfectly patterned Peter Alexander pajamas with added sponge bob boxer shorts.

One day my friends, everyone including africa children will wear pajamas to school and work. Everyone will be much happier and contented with life.

Here's another complaint. What's up with the flimsy shorts in most of the tennis skorts? Has anyone else noticed? They are called compression shorts, but they sure don't compress anything. The material is so flimsy that you can't even hold a tennis ball in your shorts leg. Maybe this is specific to Adidas and Nike?

Yes, i noticed that. I have to learn it from Cindy to cut the flimsy shorts and wear my own compression shorts.

I've done that to a couple of skirts too, but the skirts end up sliding around on me. I wish the clothing manufacturers would use more substantial fabric in their skirts.

Same here. Bought xs for my sister, and M for myself - both were huge! When I returned them TW said they heard that a lot about taut particular Adidas line... Too bad, very nice product otherwise.....

OK, gals. I need some kind of suggestion.

Unlike catfish and crystal_clear, I don't need heavy-duty compression anything. If anything, I need loosey-goosey. Can't exact go commando under a tennis dress. Anyone know of any breathable shorts...WITH POCKETS!?!? Anyone ever thought of wear a swim short on the court?

When they opened golf&tennis store in my area, i bought a pair of "In-Between" brand shorts (not sure if I can post link to their website, but I am sure you can google it). It was the cheapest off brand pair of shorts I have ever had (I think i paid under $10), but till this day they are the best - nicely stay on, don't roll, pockets hold well!.

Thanks for the suggestions, Tiffani and tennis-player...but those still strike me as way too tight. Remember, I'm looking for a really airy mesh liner-like thing.

Let's see if this image works:

Haven't had the chance to play in my boy swimsuit (with said mesh liner)...but I'm gonna. Will report back.

Angle Queen, if you're small, the Nike girls' running shorts I bought about 5 years ago have pockets -- I wear them almost every day in the summer (around the house and for tennis), and they've held up well. They don't have a mesh insert, but they're airy.

Ah, I'm sorry! I misunderstood. Finding women's tennis specific shorts with pockets is tough these days... I know the Nike Pacer short has a built-in mesh brief like you're talking about, but there are no pockets. There are some men's shorts that have pockets and an inner brief. The shorts from Lotto are like that. They're longer than women's shorts with about a 7" inseam.

I did find a pair of shorts at our sister company Running Warehouse that might be something you'd like. It has pockets and a "crepe liner." I'll have to check with our running apparel experts to make sure it's the meshy inner brief, though.

Thanks, ladies for the suggestions.

I am open to just about any kind of pocketed "shorts," regardless of what sport they're "designed" for. The 7" inseam is probably just a bit too long and, from what I remember, most running short are, ahem, a bit too much on the short side.

FWIW, I did try playing in the TYR swim short my dearest bought for me after I complained the women's swimwear "picked" when you sat on the concrete side of the pool. And...that experiment went quite well. Breezy, and a different sensation for sure....but comfortable, conservative (even by my standards) and something I'm willing to do again. With an entire week of 95F+ temps, I needed it cool and dry.

ew, oh my gosh. I just got those bolle shirts- the material is so thin you can see right through it and it is not looking good! glad returns are free ;)

Bump.

Did anyone get anything nice for Christmas that you want to show off? I specifically said no new tennis clothes, please. My tennis attire drawer runneth over. Skirts of darn near every color and plenty of shirt options too.

Was initially interested in Adidas' Yellow Dress that Ana was wearing:

AWSPAD-YE-thumb.jpg

...when I thought the yellow skirt part was an "overlay" of a white/grey skort. Now that I see it's just part of the fabric print, I'm not as enamored. Still, I thought it was a nice look for Ivanovic.
