US Open, Delpo's Return ?

Although not looking as a favorite coming into the tournament, is it really reasonable to completely count him out of the tournament with him being a former champion.

Hypothetically, if Delpo manages to win, he'll definitely get back into the Top 10 after I checked the current rankings. Will we witness the return of the Delpo ?

He has a shot, but since he will have to beat Djokovic in the final,it's not looking good for him. I think he can definitely make the second week though.

We're looking at a Djokovic-Delpo final OR a Djokovic- Murray final.

In both cases, Djokovic likely wins, but Delpo does have a shot, purely based on his champion traits and mental strength..

He has 0% of winning another major.

That's an impossible percentage for anyone who has or is participating in a of slam. It's theoretically impossible to have 0% chance of winning a slam if your participating it. The percentage may be extremely low, but it's still there.

Forget about percentage, I am saying he will not win another major.

Del Potro has done very little to suggest that he'll make it deep into his draw let alone win the entire thing.

Low first serve percentages and inconsistency make a Del Po win look incredibly slim. He gets to the 4th round max where he'll probably face one of the top four guys and lose.

The answer to these questions are yes and then no.

It's possible, more likely next year if he stays healthy, with Fed on the decline, and even when Nadal is on, Delpo spanks him on HC, so that leaves Djoker as his main threat, if he stays healthy I see him winning more for sure.

I dont see it. Going into the 09 USO Delpo had shown great improvement throughout the year, including nearly beating Fed at the FO and a very good summer HC series.

This year...he hasnt shown much.
Again, his movement is not what it was in 09.

Probably not for this Open but he is still young and has some devastating weapons. He hasn't fully recovered from his wrist surgery and long time off. Its definitely possible for him to win some more majors.

Being a former champion has nothing to do with his odds this year.
That's like saying "Oh yeah, John Isner's won on a hard court similar to the US Open before, so we can't count him out."

He isn't playing anywhere near how he was before, and that slam was a fluke anyway.

I thought DelPo had a sleeper's chance after Wimby. But this summer has been not so good. The straight set losses to Gulbis and Cilic where just poor for what he's capable of doing. He's been struggling to find his game, so I don't see him with a real chance to win this USO.

I do think he'll win another slam at least before he's all done though. And lol at someone claiming he'll never win one ever then trying to end a bet on that in 2012.
