Lightweight Prestige MP ???

When I had the 4D300Tour, I thought the MGPMP played very similarly. Maybe you can try it or the new BM300Tour. The performance is similar, but in a lighter package.

The new Prestige S sounds intriguing. Also, the specs for the Dunlop 300 Tour are exactly what I had in mind. Both of these seem like good options. As for the radical MP, I've had a hit with my sons LM version and was not blowin' away by it. It felt a hollow. Anymore suggestions?

I own the blx 90, ks88, dunlop 300hundred tour, prestige MP. IMO the prestige is a better stick than the 300hundred. It also cost 2x as much. I guess bang for the buck the 300 tour is best. But the prestige is slightly more stable on volleys and touch shots so I love it for that.

I put 2 sticks of hot glue into the end of a FP Prestige MP and it swings and feels lighter than the unmodified YT Prestige MP despite weighing 12.3 ounces.

I love my Prestige MP but there are times (like 3rd set) that I wish it were 0.5 oz. lighter. Any recommendations for rackets to try?

If you like to use this frame so much - why don't you modify the frame and make it lighter?
The Prestige racquets has a long caps/grommet which wraps around the frame.... You could trim some of it off to lighten your frame. I've done it to my Prestige MP and you don't have to search for a different frame.

Not WIDE open. You can get an unmodified TGK 238.4 in very good condition for around $200 a frame. Not too much more than a retail one.

More like $250 from what I have seen, also pretty hard to find unmodified, or at least it is for me, and yes on stringforum.

So, you're saying that Radical MP plays just like a lighter version of the Prestige MP???
IMO, not at all...

I have to agree, when I went full on modtastic on a YTKRad mp I had high hopes but was very disappointed and promptly traded it away.

AverageJoe is selling two unmodified 238.4s on SF for $400.

I was just about to try this. What was your approach and how different were the results from PS?

I'm also thinking along these lines, but I'd suggest a less permanent tuning that's easier to reverse if you don't like it.

I've added lead tape to the handles of a few of my racquets - placed under the replacement grip or simply under the overgrip - to get the frame's balance at least a couple more points head-light. That typically gives me better handling without reducing the frame's stability at contact, since I didn't lighten the hoop. Even though this makes the racquet heavier overall, the added weight only a fraction of an ounce that you're essentially holding in your hand. Since it make the frame's balance more head-light, it can often produce a feeling of a lighter, easier maneuvering version of the original layout.

Before you get into the potential trial-and-error headache of shopping for a different racquet, you might solve your problems by noodling with a pack of lead tape that only sets you back a few bucks.

I put 20gs of silicone in the handle, full CAPs, TK82S pallets, and I think a little lead at 12, ended up at 360gs and 8pts HL. It seemed that no matter what I did or strings I used it retained that hollow feeling, and kind of a buzzing feeling much like the Rebel, it had at stock weight, but the biggest factor for me was the beam shape, I simply hated it.

I was looking for something to replicate the feel of my heavily moded iPrestiges without having to go exceed 8 or 9pts HL, but the Rad failed miserably and I realized the balance was relative to the 370g weight of my Prestiges and it really didn't matter because it worked for me.

My next project, which I'm rather excited about is the peculiar Gamma 340X Team that seems spec'ed out specifically for modification more than any other retail frame I have seen. And it will be my first racquet painting experience as the PJ is hideous.

I thought that you were trying to replicate an existing 260.2. I think that a lot of lead at 3/9 will get rid of the hollow feeling but getting to 8 points HL might be hard. I'm looking for comparisons of the tgk260.2 to the stock frame with the same setup to see if there is the YouTek in there.

It seems that you like a racquet with flex in the 63/64 area. Definitely different from the YouTek Radical which is a lot softer. I'm the other way around.

So it looks like I should go ahead with my experiment.
