dude i took my racquet to drilling TG and while the prices were obnoxious (i ahd a groupon so it wasn't actually a lot) my racquet was done within 45 minutes of my dropping it off
i'm sure this is not the norm but still, it was awesome.
tennischemist, not sure how long you've been following this thread..
if not very long.. then we should hit
if for a while.. i know it's a leap of faith, but we can hit.. maybe some food
if for a long time.. then we should just drink and buffet
hey downs -- i've moved on and found a new food obsession. it's called lollipop chicken. lots of different takes on it. my favorite is at cava mezze in gaithersburg of all places. fried dark meat chicken in a lollipop shape. walnuts, honey, greek yogurt. it's eff-tastic.
had no idea but it looks like they have another location in arlington? if that's true. go go go.
Elena Bovina? lol I'm sure she appreciates people saying her last name is very cow-like...hahaha
Hey Down and/or Paul...would either of you be interested in playing on a 7.5 mixed combo team? (3.5 + 4.0)

oh.. my fav topic.. how and where can i upload my iphone pics to the interweb to share?..
how do I go about getting an NTRP rating around DC
1. Join USTA
2. Self Rate.
3. Play USTA leagues / tournaments until you get an computer rating.
or
4. Just go on TT and claim you are a 5.0
meaning i would actually like to know my NTRP ranking
i just don't want to pay for the membership

play someone who already has a computer rating in the usta. if you win you are likely AT LEAST at that level. then play someone .5 higher. continue this process til you lose.
even if you lose to a computer rated player - if you win 2,3,4 or 5 games per set - you may still be competitive in that NTRP rating. for example you play a rated 3.5 player. you lose 3-6, 4-6. chances are good that you are a 3.5 player. you play a 4.5 rated player and lose 0-6, 1-6. chances are good that you are not a 4.5 player.
in my experience people who don't play usta leagues or tournaments or college tennis for a team have really inflated sense of their playing level.
Paul, if you change your mind and wanna give it a go, just say the word! We could bring some duct tape for your knee, just in case!

well wait a minute. topaz i may be interested now. i take my greatest joy in playing my brand of awesome seniors level tennis versus the wookie.
where does sandbagging fit into all of this? haha
LOL!
1. Be a high ranked junior or play high-level college tennis
2. Join USTA
3. Don't answer USTA Self Rate Questions honestly
4. Play 1.0-0.5 below level
5. Play leagues. Tank games to make match competitive, but bring the 150 mph serve when needed.
6. Get computer rated.
7. Following season crush all competition 0 and 0 since you can't be DQ'ed
8. Win nationals
9. Profit!
what's the profit part? i didn't realize there was money to be made playing recreational tennis. am i doing something wrong?
Really? Wow!Hahaha! Chris, aren't you on number 8 in a couple of weeks??!?
