Disrespectful Roommate (HELP)

So I'm in a new boarding school since my family moved to Kansas and I live with a guy who doesn't give me respect and yells vulgarities at me when I don't give him his way

The thing is, I don't want to retaliate because I will be kicked out of the hostel.

What should I do?

He's 2 years younger than me

Change roomates.
Kick his butt a few times, ready for his parent's intervention.
Ignore him, get yourself punished for nothing
Some would say...."talk to this moron".
I say, get each other in a headlock, the winner decides what to do.

kick his *** nothing shows your dominance as alpha male in the pack like a friendly knee to the gut and an uppercut to the jaw.

While I generally agree with LS here, I think the perp here is a spoiled brat, and as such, always get's the intervention from his parents or authority on his side. Just punching him out might be the caveman way to do the right thing, but modern lawsuits and wotnot seem to intervene at the worst times.

Why have you been in boarding schools wherever your family happens to be? What sort of boarding school? Is it a school for people with behavior issues? Seems odd that the school would have kids room together with a two year age difference.

Definitely you need to change your roommate. You need to go to school counselor or someone in charge of assigning domitory rooms and tell him/her your situation.
I was lucky when I lived in school domitory. I had nice roommates for 2 years.

So, interesting school. He can do it and get away with it, but you can't. I say screw it because your school sucks and shoot him multiple times with a 12ga.

I agree that a solid "stand up for yourself beat down" usully does the trick, not with today's litigation era of wimps, I say get psyhco on him. You know, act bizzarre, if yells out to project his feeling onto you. Acknowldege his immature behavior and suggest he'll grow out of it in a few years. Or invite him to skin your deer kill of the season with you, while you explain in-detail what actually killed the deer (round hit 3rd left rib and traveled through arotic arch and landed in internal carotid).

Okay, really steal his girl,errrrrr.....I mean calmly seek the adult who is in charge of room assignments and request a change or #1 will happen:shock:

Question: Can you beat him up ?

Confront him, even if it means getting a good beating. At least you will get some shots at him. Otherwise he will treat you like this as long as you will stay with him. Plus, he will tell others about how he treats you and they will also think that it is okay not to respect you.

Being nice is a good thing but when someone crosses the line and does not hear to reason, then your gloves should come off ! Tell him that next time he abuses you, you will fight him.

I also agree that you must change the roommate BUT do that after confronting him. If you do not confront him and just change the room, everyone around you will think you are a big coward. And cowardice is a very unattractive quality.

Do NOT act psycho ! in schools news spreads like wildfire and you do not want to be remembered as the psycho.

To live one day like a lion is better than a 100 years like a sheep =)

The last guy that was complaining about a roommate in 'Odds and Ends' told us that he just beat him up.

We haven't heard from him since

Question: Can you beat him up ?

Lets see,

His screen name is a japanese biscuit dipped in chocolate. Although its good it would be like being called tootsie or something. So I doubt he is able to beat this kid up.

If he could beat him up more than likely the kid wouldnt do what he is doing.

I say you should still try to beat him up. Either you can actually beat him up and he will leave you alone or he will retaliate and do something more extreme.

Its probably better to just let him beat you up. Then he will leave you alone and the room switch will happen. If people like you they will label that guy a doosh. If they dont like you then you probably deserved it anyway.

My, what a violent bunch you all are.

OP, back in the day we settled conflicts with our fists and no one looked twice, but you should know that these days students get expelled/arrested for violence, no matter who started what. Just tell the authorities your roomate is a pr!ck..

I studied in a boarding school for 13 years from age 5 to 18. I was among the "lucky" ones who lived with my parents since the school was in my city but some of my friends lived the hostel. From their and my experience, I can say that the only way out is to confront the bully otherwise, more students will be abusive and consider you an easy target.

To the OP; fight him if he does not stop. Even if he is stronger then you, try to get a few got hits on him. The next time he will think twice before insulting you.

Tell Datacipher your room-mate suggested an alternative viewpoint regarding Federer's slightly low elbow position during his serve.

That's often not the case. I've seen numerous times how big and strong people are genuinely nice and non-aggressive while little twerbs are acting like jerks, like they are trying to compensate for something.

OP, if I were you I'd 1) confront him and give him some of his own medicine (I bet he won't see it coming since you seem to be on the defense here), and 2) try to find a new room/roommate.

I could always let him walk in on you while your punching the clown. That would probably weird him out to the point where he leaves you alone.

Whatever you do, do it NOW. You need to show him right from the beginning that he can't treat you like that. One of the worst mistakes is letting him get away with it for too long, it will just make it harder to do something about it.

Just tell him you're not taking no ****. Don't fight him, just tell him straight that you're not happy with him, and sort everything out. If not, you should go with everyone else. A few punches directly in the face, a couple of uppercuts, and a roundhouse up his ass should solve this problem. You could try this, other my other tip, or just annoy him. Find out what little things he really hates, and annoy him all the time. Has he got OCD? **** him off with that. Basically, annoy him so hard, he just wants to kill himself. <3

This problem sounds ********, but anyway.

Does this guy have a girlfriend? Doubtful, if he is living with you. So, onto the next...

Is there a particular girl this guy likes? Considering he is probably a jealous ***** of a guy. Find this girl, and hook up with her. Tell him, you want to move her in, and want his monkey ass out of the picture. My guess, he would move out before you had to ask.

Dude Id be in stitches if I got to see that play out first hand lol
And I guess to the op giving the guy a warning would be more gentlemanly, but me personally, Id just go in make eye contact and then just beat the holy hell out of him. Guys messing with you, he should know a fights coming.

Thanks everyone for their responses.

I have an athletic built but he's taller than me. This is a point I considered amongst others such as being expelled and physically hurt and being a better person than just to use violence.

I'm in boarding because my parents want me to learn the importance of independence. Apparently not going too well.

He doesn't have OCD because he's messing things up and getting me to clean up with him when the warden comes in.

I'm not exactly the type to hook up for another motive. The girl could get hurt.

I think it would work. I've seen how some guys react when someone simply spills the beans to the girl they like before they can tell her. I saw some guy storm out of a party because some dummy sold him out. He was a bully type. Always talking some kind of competitive smack with me. Apparently, someone else didn't like his ways and got him where it hurt.

I'm not that kind, either. About her getting hurt, not always true. This chick could be a real party girl, and could despise him.

Only ways to sort this, is show a staff member some evidence of what he's doing, or just stick up for yourself, and give him a good warning. Should do the trick.

Oh yeah dude, for sure it'll work. I had a pretty good friend back in high school who liked the same chick as me... Difference is I went after her and we've been together ever since, the ex-friend hasn't talked or hung out with me since and was salty as hell when he found out I just asked her out. This is a guy that was my friend, the op's roommate doesn't even like him so he'll probably gtfo real quick. Also op it could be to late, if he sees you as a b***h already it's gonna be hard to change that view unless you whip his ass or full on punk him. But seriously, op if he starts messing with you in front of other people you gotta do something. Go for his nose, break it or pop it hard, guys eyes will water up and you can just throw some surgical strikes to put him down. Don't underestimate the body shot either, knock the wind outta him and he won't be able to do crap.

Yeah, people are bitter. I went club hopping in HS with a good friend. Really good looking girl comes along, he takes a shot, but eventually wore out his welcome with her (I thought he had it. I was happy for him), and she comes over to me, eventually. She was wondering to me if he was always this crazy. He was a bit drunk, in his defense. I even put in a good word on him to her. He sees me and her and comes over and starts talking more stupidity, and she bolts just to get out of his company. Everyone went home empty handed. LOL I asked him why he did that, things were going good. He is like, forget it, more fish in the sea. I'm thinking, you weren't saying that about her before you just struck out. It is funny to me, now, but for a week or two I was annoyed.

Pocky have you slept with him yet?

oh yes, there is another side to it as well. He might like you, and what you think as rudeness might be his way of flirting and teasing you.

You should have an open discussion with him and get to the bottom of this ....

If he starts acting like a prat then just explode, you seem to be a quiet guy I read it somewhere or watched it in a film cant really remember but there are 2 types of people in this world

I think it went like this
Imagine working in a supermarket at the checkouts and you would get customers complaining for reasons I don't know and they start raising there voices then with reply you start yelling back blah blah blah - This is not you

Then you would have another type of person at the checkout who would get shouted at, customers complaining arguing etc etc and then you can only take it for so long and then one day out comes the shotgun and bang bang you dead - I think you might be this kind of guy,

I'll watch out on the news just let me know where in the US your from or whatever.

The quickest result in my opinion would be show him the hand gesture kick him in the nuts and give him a stone cold stunner :)

I sleep in the same room as him but not in the same bed as him.

He's definitely not gay, the type that is popular in school.

Yes, I'm more of the quiet type and explodes eventually.

Guys, there's a lot of violence in your advice, but it's not going to do anything besides getting me thrown out.

He seems intimidating, talking about wanting to beat others up and stuff.
