I'm trying the premium gut, which was the lower price. Mamba recommends it be strung at lower tensions. I strung it about 55 and was sweating it as I finished up. Finally got it strung, and it seemed to play okay. I've got it in the crosses with a poly main, but am not crazy about how it plays. I've become used to a muted low power feel, so the gut is too lively to suit my taste at this point.

Tried Iontec 1.2 full job 40 m 36 x on a PS85, feels good and it is you can not miss unless ou frame it or have really bad timing too early or late, feel is good
for a poly.
Also tried Iontec 1.25 hybrid 40 m 46 x syngut on a EXO3 100 Graphite, again control is unmatched, power is good.

I just bought couple of sets of Iontec 1.25, I cross my fingers for good results....I'm tired of trying strings

I can agree with you 100% about being tired of trying different strings. I'd LOVE to find about two to three different ones to use ALL THE TIME. That way if one is backordered or out I have one or two more to choose from to use. Keep us posted on how you like the Iontec 1.25 strings.

i love IonTec 17g. it's worked really well in the 2 very different frames i've tried it in which is rare. usually a string that works well in stiff frames doesn't work so well in soft frames. IonTec has worked equally well for me in my Vantage BC20s which are soft and flexy and have worked wonderfully in the latest release of the PS85 which is alot stiffer than the BC20.

what racquet and string do you normally use?
i string my BC20 which is a 95 sq in head at 51.5/49 so i think 52 should work for you.

I'm playing lately with a Yonex RQiS 1 tour with Tecnifibre Pro Red Code (full bed at 52) and planning to try the Iontec on a Yonex RDiS 200 Midplus.

i think 52 should be fine. one of my friends hits w/ a 98 sq in wilson and loves TF red code 16 at 56. i strung his stick w/ IonTec 17 at 56 and he's loving it.

I tested the penta twisted, poly premium, and the spin monster.
The spin monster was too stiff for me, but did provide nice spin. Poly premium was an all around great string, but the penta twisted was the best out of the three. It offered good tension maintenance, and always had great spin.

Dropped my racquet today to be strung with Iontec, all my prays to this one......I've been so frustrated for the past couple of months with racquets as well as strings. Tired of trying different things, I can't go back to my basis; Kneissl Red Star with pro line II. I sold the racquets and it is very difficult to find couple of them for a reasonable price.

Played last night with Iontec at 52/50 in my Yonex RDiS 200, by now all I can say that these strings and set up fell very stiff even at that tension (kind of low).
I don't wanna throw any premature opinion, I'll wait to see how that works in the next couple of hours.
I warm up with one guy singles for about 40 minutes, then I played two sets in doubles, it seems to me that after couple of hours did not drop any tension at all.
What I like is the fact that they don't look cheap as many other brands that I played before in that range of price. Also even being that stiff they did not cause any pain in my arm......its vibration level is very low.

I bought their blackspin, ionentec hexa, thunder strings and twisted gear. All of them are great strings and at really good prices. The customer service is great! I really liked the iontec hexa, 6sided string for bite and has a good feel to it. They also sell some natural gut at good prices.

it's still a co-poly so it's stiff vs a multi or gut. i've found it maintains tension extremely well. definitely doesn't lose as much tension as Red Code. if it feels stiff, you may want to try it a few lbs lower. it's a great control string and i agree that it's friendly on the arm.

Dog, I've been playing with full poly for the past 5 o 6 years.....I understand what you said about poly stiffness vs multi or gut softness, but there are different level of stiffness of polys.
Iontec is in my opinion a very stiff poly, comparing to SSPP, Pro line II, or some others.
Definitely I'll go lower next time. No sore after hitting last night for about 3 hours.

completely agree. having read your posts, i know you have a lot of experience w/ different strings. i find it to play pretty crisp but very comfortable. i don't find it to be anywhere near as stiff as Tour Bite or BBO, but it's not soft and mushy feeling like Sonic Pro or B5E. at the same tension, TB just feels really stiff until it's been in the racquet for a week and settled in (ie lost some tension). BBO at the same tension doesn't feel really stiff, but my wrist starts to complain very quickly. to me, IT is soft in the sense that there's very little harshness and as you said no pain from hitting like i get w/ other stiff polys. i get great feel and ball pocketing from it as well, which is something i never get w/ other stiff polys. those just feel like i'm hitting w/ a wood plank. definitely experiment with tension. you may want to try dropping the crosses more since the yonex has a rectangular face. Ray also mentioned that IT works best at lower tensions. i'm generally in the mid to high 40s and i string my own sticks so i have more control over my stringing process, too. if you feel it's too stiff, check w/ Ray. he's a great guy and is always willing to offer suggestions and help. also at the end of the day, it's possible IonTec isn't the string for you.

I can't afford to produce couple of great shots and right after that, go to visit a doctor because of the pain produced by this miracle string
No doubt that I am going to drop couple of pounds next time, I fell I have a lot of room to go down and still have control while gaining in ball pocketing.

So I am hearing the Iontec is a an awesome string. Im about to buy a reel of Tourbite, but I'm wondering if iontec could be a good string for my backup stick since it is supposed to last a long time.

hey PP, can't hurt to give it a try. it's only $7/set. if u find u like it, u can order a reel which is only $69.99. that works out to ~$4-5/string job so alot less than TB. i'm using 1.25 which is the equivalent of 17g which i love so much that i just ordered the 1.20 or 17L this time. according to Ray, the lighter gauge offers even more feel and still has the same stable tension maintenance.

Just strung up a couple of racquets with BBO at 50/42 in a prestige pro, you're scaring me, need to know what tension caused these ailments and also which racquet was strung so i know the head size and string pattern.

BBO is a 1st gen poly and Iontec is a modern co poly. Huge difference in terms of comfort, stiffness and playability. BBO is a string you cut out after 4 hours of hitting or you are headed to a bad wrist/elbow.

The appeal of a string like Iontec to me is that I can hopefully keep it in a stick for over 12 hours and retain playability and get heavy spin and comfort. If that happens, then we have something because as much as I love Tourbite, I can not string it on all my sticks fresh every week.

PP, this is why i'm so in love (in JGads words
and he's right) with Iontec. it plays very consistent from the 1st hour until i cut it out around 20-24 hrs. even when i cut it out, it's still playing ok, just not quite as much spin and control as a fresh bed. granted i get marginally better spin from TB from hours 2-6 than Iontec. but i get much better feel and touch from Iontec period. plus Iontec holds tension WAY better especially now that i'm stringing mini JET/JayCee method. it never dropped that much prior to stringing mini JET/JayCee, but it's definitely even better now. there's no huge performance dropoff and it performs optimally for alot longer than TB. and to top it all off, Iontec is SO affordable especially since like you, i string my own sticks so i just get a reel of it.

I played with Iontec tonight again, a singles match. According to the score 6-0 6-0 I should say this is my string but not yet.......
Of course this guy plays way under my level but is always a challenge because He runs after every ball and he passes everything back no matter how back into my side.
Iontec felt better than my first hitting session, after losing some tension played much better. A little bit more spin, more ball pocketing, better fell.....not yet convinced this is the string for my game.
I will keep posting my experience with it.

glad it's feeling better. maybe lower the tension 2-3 lbs next time and see how that works out. i am getting really great feel & ball pocketing in my BC20 at 51/49 and in my PS85 at 47.5/46.

Definitely I have to go couple of pounds lower. In case at that tension (52) was the opposite of your experience; no good feel, a little harsh, no pocketing.....
As I said last night after couple of days being strung played much better.
By the way what is it BC20?

I always play with the cheapest or any racquet in the market, I've never heard of that one. I think strings make the difference.

i hurt my rotator cuff in my younger days and it's been complaining in my old age. now my wrist acts up from time to time. i have no pain when i hit with the super duper soft rossi f200, but alas, the head size is too small and with a swingweight close to that of a 100' redwood tree, i could hit for 10 mins before i start hitting every ball late.
i searched for a soft 95" racquet and stumbled across the BC20. in my case, the racquet and the strings make all the difference in the world.
