Sampras vs Becker on clay looks awesome :)

From what i can see in this clipping, Becker got burned almost every time he came to the net. Sampras seemed to have stuck around baseline and delivered passing shots when Becker came to net.

Now when Nadal's of the world do it, it is considered bad...

Sampras totally dominated this final against Becker, winning 6-1, 6-2, 6-2. Sampras was coached during the tournament by Vitas Gerulaitis, covering for Tim Gullikson who was on vacation.

Looking at this match one must wonder what Nadal would do to Pete's backhand on clay.

Todays players seem a lot more consistent from the baseline, even Fed who is not extremelly consistent seems like a rock compared to this two playing on clay

Beautiful all-court tennis.

Sampras's ground game and passing-shots were too good for Boris that day.

Boris Becker had a bit of bad luck not winning a clay court title in his whole career.

He lost the MonteCarlo'89 Final against Mancini in five sets, the Hamburg'90 Final against Juan Aguilera (a very fine and stylish, though inconsistent, spanish player who liked parties and life outside tennis a bit too much), the MonteCarlo'91 Final against Bruguera in four gruelling and close sets, this Rome'94 Final against a very inspired Sampras that day, and the MonteCarlo'95 Final against Muster in five sets.

He was semi-finalist in RolandGarros three times (87 losing to Wilander in three sets, 89 losing to Edberg in five sets and his best chance to maybe have won the French Open, and 91 losing to Agassi in four sets).

Edberg won Hamburg'92, Gstaad'86 and Madrid'93 on clay.

Sampras won Rome'94, Kitzbuhel'92 and Atlanta'98 on clay (Atlanta on green clay).

Stich won Stuttgart'91, Hamburg'93 and Munich'94 on clay.

Ivanisevic won Stuttgart'90, Bucharest'93 and Kitzbuhel'94 on clay.

Becker lacked a bit of luck to win a claycourt title.

I like this match cause it has a little of everything, Becker was trying to S&V while Pete was playing from the baseline

Both tried to slug it out and points were not short nor long, passing shots, winners and overall great tennis

You talking bout Fat dave?

I think Juan Aguilera was a more extreme case.

Nalbandian has taken tennis seriously many times in his career, and though many people call him fat, I don't think he lacks endurance and he has a good record in five sets matches. He is just physically strong and wide and he would never look as thin as, say, Djokovic.
