Head HydroSorb Tour weight

Do you guys know the weight of Head HydroSorb Tourt grip? I put it on on a Microgel Prestige MP and it's way too soft so I was thinking to replace it with a leather grip but I need to know first the weight so I don't change that much the balance.

thanks

because....the weight of the grip will throw the balance off that much to cost you a match......

Even though you're on my ignore list, curiosity occasionally gets the better of me and despite knowing better, I occasionally click on the 'show post' tab to see what dumb, misinformed thing you've posted this time.

Yet again, I fail to be anything but disappointed by what you post.

Now go steal some racquets from classified/e.Bay sellers and stop offering advice on things you don't have any understanding of.

Do you guys know the weight of Head HydroSorb Tourt grip?

The stock HydroSorb Tour grip straight off the handle of a Youtek Prestige MP is 14.6g. Despite being thick/cushy, its noticeably lighter than equivalent replacement grips.

If you're replacing with leather, you're looking at a noticeable increase in tail weighting, unless of course you OG with the Hydrosorb but not with the leather.

I have measured a range of 17-20g over multiple samples.

Presumably you're talking about grips from retail packets prior to trimming?

I've pulled the grips off three stock Prestige MPs and they're all c14.5g - I've never seen as much as a 3g variance between them. It's a light grip.

Actually, no. 18-20g is the range from three grips taken off stock IG Prestige Mids. The 17-20g range includes one or two grips from retail packs that I put on non-Head frames (all measurements are after installation).

Based on other grips I have measured, it is actually a heavier synthetic in my book. Most are around 14-15g. Sorry, I'm not sure why our readings are so different. Perhaps the Prestige Mid handle is longer than the Prestige MP or the installation process is slightly different in the factory for the two lines.

Btw, I measure the frame, take the grip out including any double-sided tape residue as well as the staple at the butt end. Then I measure again. It is possible the difference is due to the tape and staple...

Thanks Torres for the replay. So if I'm correct a new grip hydrosorb tour weights more than the one that comes in stock....correct?
Since you guys know more than me about grip, is there anything similar in weight just not that soft?

Another clown post. Good work.

Now type LOL again and continue to devalue yourself here.

The hydrasorb lowered my weight on a prestige pro from 12.3 to 11.9 (leather was on before) if I remember correctly.

I'm not sure either. The Youtek Prestige MPs I have, I've regripped (with Wilson TruFeel + Xtremesoft OG) for the sole purpose of adding a set amount of weight to the handle to balance the few grams of lead I was adding in the hoop.

When I weighed the stock Hydrosorb Tour, all I did was pull it it off the handle, removing the black finishing tape as well. There's a clear plastic film over the pallet which I removed as well, but I threw that away. I just coiled the grip (minus stapel, minus finishing tape, minus clear plastic film) and put it on some electronic scales. I was surprised how light it was because the likes of Wilson TrueFeel and Babolat SkinFeel come in at around 17g or so after trimming.

I'm wondering whether the handle is shorter on the MP compared to the Prestige Mid resulting in slightly less grip is being used. Or maybe they just changed the forumulation slightly with the IGs (I weighed the grips that came with the Youtek versions).

is there anything similar in weight just not that soft?

I'm struggling to think of anything to be honest. Even something like SkinFeel is heavier IMO and that's noticeably thinner, so you'd be lowering the grip size if you're not using an OG. You could try some badminton or squash grips provided they're of sufficient length, but its not something I'm familar with.

what a joke. you must have went up to 5.0 now that your prestige pro is 11.9oz. why dont you post some video of you hitting with the new grip

For the sake of completeness and also if anyone should stumble across this thread in future, I pulled the stock grip off the IG Prestige MP

- it says Hydrosorb on the grip (not Hydrosorb Tour)
- it's one of those slightly ripply/bumpy grips (not completely flat like Babolat Skin Feel or Wilson TrueGrip for example)
- it weighs 16g

I broke various grips from the retail packets and weighed them....100% stock without trimming, or removing the backing tape, finishing tape, clear plastic etc.

2012 Wilson Pro-Hybrid (White) - 25.9g (grip is less ribbed than pre 2012 versions of the Pro-Hybrid)

Prince ResiPro - 18.4g

Head Hydrosorb - 22.4g

Head Hydrosorb Tour - 22.1g

why don't you come down and hit with me instead? I'm sure you are a real cool guy.

I've already posted video anyway.

Grow up..you made a stupid post and got called on it. Quit being a tool.

Good stuff torres..most normal people know a grip change can change the weight and balance of a stick rather severely sometimes.

That's true he is a racquet thief with a mouth and apparently he plays tennis in jean shorts. Sounds like a guy who is beating women off with a stick. LOL.

The grip weight threads are awesome, especially the long one about leather weights.

LOL your opinion is i made a stupid post. its double funny that you fail to see you are teh stupid one going on about grips....because it really doesnt make a difference. i am sure federer sits down and does the math on grip weight so make sure his frames are on spec.
hahahahhahahahha

and EVEN if grip did change the balance i am sure it would just throw off your 5.5 game. i mean how can it not?????? LISTEN UP EVERYONE ACCORDING TO POWER PLAYER HERE:

BETTER TAKE OFF YOUR GRIP AND WEIGH IT AND MAKE SURE THEY ALL ARE THE SAME BALANCE AND WEIGHT OR YOUR FRAME WILL BE WAY OFF AND MESS UP YOUR GAME!

@ zapvor - when you're not stealing racquets from teenage kids, and trying to steal racquets from another forum member and having the whole forum calling you out on it - lowering your already low reputation even futher - you just make yourself look stupid every time you post.

If you're too stupid to realise that a small amount of additional weight in the handle makes a noticeable difference to how the racquet feels and swings, just ask yourself why there's a trap door in the butt cap of most racquets? Then ask yourself why there's a significant difference between a polarized and non-polarized racquet, why there are a range of difference balances between racquets, why you have silicone injection into handles, why there are different distributions of mass between racquets, why when someone like Nadal adds 2g to his racquet it actually makes the news, why you have custom molded handles, why you have different pallet shapes and pallet lengths, why some pros insist on having grip half sizes, and why companies P1 and **** exist. Even your low levels intelligence might be enough to realise that there's a reason for all of that....

Zapvor is simply a clown. A guy who will post that he is a "pro stringer" one day and then acts like half an ounce of weight is no big deal.

Imagine giving this guy your racquet to string or mod. I couldn't even imagine it. I'd love to find out what shop he works at so people in that area can get a heads up on how unprofessional and lame this guy is.

Once again, he plays tennis in jean shorts and we have seen his vids. He blows. But yet he is a "pro stringer" and jumps in here and runs his mouth belittling other posters for no reason at all.

Wow, interesting comment, I'm pretty sure Federer would find the weight of his grips so important that he actually employs a professional to do the maths on every racket matching them to an exact spec varying for every condition.

In fact whenever you see Federer he always has the same thinly wrapped overwrap over a leather presumably.

He is a professional player that does things so precisely that he even switches rackets the game before he serves just to get the feel before his service...

So to conclude I imagine he certainly does care and by us amateurs taking an interest I would say we our doing our best to have serious racket set-ups, I found this thread pretty useful on the whole and of course a good laugh thanks to your great input!

I know this is an old thread but before this became an internet battle there was some good info on grips in here.

Has anyone weighed the Head Hydrosorb Pro yet to compare it to the tour?

Thanks!
