Had a feeling Isner was the biggest dipper on tour. He probably goes through a tin a day

He would have sores everyday and his teeth would look like crap

Eh....Isner is a carolina boy.

its a southern thang.

Its actually pretty common here in parts of Canada too. A lot of hockey players do it. One guy on my beer league team a few years back actually put some of the tobacco in his skates and under his armpits and stuff. Pretty gross.

You realize that there is something called "Tobacco Road" in NC

runs from raleigh, to durham, to greensboro to winston salem

winstom salem/greensboro are where many cigarette companies are headquartered, or at least, used to be

rjr nabisco for one.

Is this for real? He has a tobacco addiction because he's from north Carolina? That's ridiculous. He's no different from a smoker. And chewing tobacco is popular all over the USA.

Unlike Sir Charles Barkley, Isner is a role model. Will the next generation of players dip and spit?

I can attest to this. A lot of Canadians at my school (most recruited for hockey) and almost all of them use chewing tobacco. I was quite surprised. Otherwise I don't think it is that popular in the north east, it is a lot more of a southern thing, hoever it is not exclusive to the south.

how about this...its a very common habit in NC, does that work for you???

are you even from the states?

I lived in north caroline for 12 years, will that suffice for you??

Dipping is a filthy habit. It will rot your mouth pretty fast. I'd rather smoke cigarettes than dip. I think dippers are even more likely than cigarette smokers to get cancer (mouth and esophageal cancers).

I'm surprised more players don't use nicotine. It has been shown to increase concentration.

I'm waiting for a player to use those electronic cigarettes during changeovers.

thats really surprising because that stuff slows you down and relaxes you more than acting as a stimulant. i tried it once when i went to visit the family in the country and i got so dizzy and high it was ridiculous, nicotine city.

+1. I remember sitting close enough to someone who was spitting into a cup at the movies - nasty - had to move.

Not sure if they keep stats but wouldn't be surprised. Remember seeing some pics of young guys - under 30 - who had to have part of their jaw removed.

Can't wait for Big John to swallow some after getting hit by a comebacker. Watching his face turn green will be awesome.

I have an aversion to tobacco chew also. When I was in my teens the septic tank broke and we had this repair guy come in. Worse mouth ever. The guy had rotten teeth and couldn't stop chewing tobacco. Never seen something like that.

John Isner spitting tobacco!!

Yeah he was def spitting tobacco throught the Roddick match. I saw it up close and personal. I was sitting behind him during that match. My mum thought he was spitting out sweets, lol (oh mother). It was nasty to look at. I also think he left the bottle there too. yuck. He kept on eyeing up the Serbian team too and talking to that other serbian player Troicki, seemed a little tense at times. But with the spitting, i mean really, theres a time and a place for that, doing that on centre court at wimbledon is neither the time or place to do it!!! Still love him though, lol
got a pic of him when sitting behind him, didnt wanna take too many, didnt want him to think im sort of pervey weirdo, lol

yeah, i didnt realise he was doing it, cos he started of drinking a lot of water, then he started to spit crap in a bottle, i was thinking what the hell is he doing. It wasn't until i got back home that i clocked onto what that spitting was about. So would've taken a picture of him doing it, but him spitting brown crap in a bottle isn't really the best pic, lol

Dipping really expedites the risk of getting oral cancer. That and your teeth tend to rot and decay, your gums look like dirt. Dipping is probably one of the worst things you can do to your body voluntarily. I can't see the enjoyment out of stuffing your mouth full of a toxic plant. I never really understood how people could get into something like that.
