To beat Azarenka.

Well, I know she is American, but I am not a fan of her at all and mostly because of his behavior on and off court, I like her attacking game tho.

Anyone else pulling against Aza? She's just way too cocky imo

Rooting for Serena because Azarenka is too cocky is like rooting for Karlovic because Isner is too tall...

I like how people like to put forward fake motives for hating the Williams sisters. Why not just come out and say it?

You're a disgrace.

Here we go again!

Mr. Pinhead Analyst plays the "hate" card. You dont like a player personality? You must be a hater! You dont like a bully? You are a hater! You dont like cheaters? You are a hater!

And O.M.G. I am a disgrace now too!

The problem with you, Mr. Analyst, is that you are here because of your personal issues. Whenever you post anything it has to show how superior or smart you are and that makes you a fool.
:)
Have a good day!

gold star analogy...

However, i guess some may feel that Serena's cockiness is more appropiate given her acomplishments.

I don't think that is completely accurate. I happen to like Venus (although I think Serena's game is much more technically sound), although I never cared for Serena's personality.
I guess I am only a half-racist.

I wish Venus's career would have followed Serena's career trajectory because she's far classier.

That said, I am rooting for Serena because she is the only true champion left in the game that has a chance against the vile pigs like Azarenka and Sharapova. Their shrieking is a disgrace, and Sharapova's whole playing for Russia thing really grates on me for some reason (even though I generally don't root based on nationality and really couldn't care less most of the time... her shtick just angers me for some reason).

Azarenka is a scream queen. Serena at least keeps her decibel level reasonable while on court. Watching Azarenka is positively painful, cannot bear watching more than five minutes of her at a time. The phrase Small doses comes to mind.

I can't bear watching her for any amount of time. If SNL or another comedy show did a skit inspired by Seles or Sharapova (i.e., 2 of the most prolific and obnoxious shriekers of all time), I can imagine Tina Fey out there howling Azarenka as a parody. Unfortunately for the fans, this is no joke, and Azarenka's shrieks are real. They really should be regulated. It's embarrassing and it's not a way for a decidedly minor sport (in terms of fans/viewership) to endear itself to the masses.

Agree with this 100%.

Azarenka is so bad she outclasses Neve Campbell in the Scream queen stakes.

When Steffi retired I all but stopped watching women's tennis, apart from the odd occasion watching and following first Martina Hingis and then Venus and Serena. The outrageous shrieking that has become the bane of womens pro tennis is scandalous; and what's even more scandalous is that nothing has been done to keep this practice in check. Now unfortunately it appears to have been condoned for so long that it will be difficult for the powers that be to bring it under control. That's if they actually had the guts to do so. This is why I will always pull for a champion like Serena (even though I preferred watching her sister to her) because she appears to be the only one that can shut these screamers up regardless of how loud they shriek. These 'ladies' (I use the term loosely) that perpetrate and perpetuate this practice for future up and coming young players to mimic, are doing a great disservice to women's tennis.

Possibly, because others have done enough of that in the past to raise reasonable suspicions by creating Serena hate threads like clockwork.

No, not neccesarily. But if you use constant gorilla, beast, or other such vulgar analogies you just might...

Serena is showing these girls how it's done after all these years and im loving it. Wish Venus was healthy enough to do the same, even though she's sick she still is too really, just not to the same degree as Serena. I have to say though, I don't think i've ever seen Serena this dedicated and motivated about tennis. It's awesome to see!

Oh god that match against Wozniacki today was just sad. I really doubt Azarenka will have anything for Serena if Serena serves well. Azarenka also is far less formidable than she was back earlier this year when she was on the winning streak. Serena is just far too consistent and has too good of a serve.

Yes, how dare the American media talk a lot about a duo of American girls who have won a combined 21 Grand Slam singles titles on American television.

Also, not liking a player and stating the reason as "I can't stand the American media's hysteria" is just stupid. She doesn't tell them to cover all her matches...the ratings and directors dictate that.

Yep, I can't stand her. Out of the remaining players left the only one I really dislike is Azarenka. With the others, whatever happens is fine with me.

Exactly. I am not a huge Williams sisters fan but they are the US's tennis royalty and they deserve all of the praise they receive from the media. Serena, love her or hate her, is on a whole different level from the rest of the players. When she is on her game, nobody can beat her. You have to respect her for what she has achieved in the game, especially considering where she came from.

I typically root for underdogs and abhor Serena's attitude the last couple of years. But since her return, unless she is playing one of my favorites (which she did in the Wimby final), I end up silently rooting for her. I mean.....when it's right, it's right. She is still THAT much better than the rest of the field.

I know people are hesitant to use the GOAT label in reference to her underachieving career. But I think she deserves to be in the conversation.

And NOTHING pleases me more than seeing her beat down Sharapova.

I wouldn't cheer for Serena if Chastity Bono was on the other side of the net.
You're obviously referring to Chaz Salvatore Bono (born: Chastity Bono) who had her hoo-hoo replaced by a pee-pee in 2008.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world does not give a crap about your hatred of the Williams family, or your poor choices in tennis players. In your case, the choices are only based on skin color, so you're done here.

Then again, your poor choices based on hatred should come as no surprise, since you were the guy with that regressive, slobbering moron Rick Perry as your avatar several months ago...until he shamed himself on the national stage.

Serena has plenty of negatives but she's an extraordinary player and one who I find wonderful to watch.
I will be hoping she beats Azarenka but that's partly because I hope everyone beats Azarenka.
She defines arrogance.
I remember her treating the ball kids at a tournament in Asia a couple of years ago as her personal slaves with total rudeness.
Then there's that infernal shriek that comes from deep within.
She's arrogant about that too and any attempts to stamp it out.
I hope Serena double bagels her.

No, that is not ok but Azarenka is a lot ruder to ball girls/boys and other personnel related to tennis tournaments on a daily basis than Serena is. Check out Azarenka during a match and how she must have the balls given to her from a certain side of the court and if not, watch how she reacts. The cameras often do not pick it up but if you go to tournaments you can see it for yourself live.

Azarenka is the worst example of how a number one player should act as a role model that we have had in a while. Wozniacki as number one did not win a slam that is true, but her behavior as a number one representing the sport was a lot more professional and respectable than Azarenka's.

It was a beautiful sight how Serena Williams pummelled Azarenka today, just pure joy. ;)
