To be fair lets tell both sides of the story. At that time Brad was calling us worthless and weak tennis coaches. So the response and predictions were to lean negative.

Boluda never grew, and still was climbing the ranking rapidly until he got injured. He got into the 500s as a pro.

I said Brad's boy would be mid D-1 level at best, in the fog of bashing each other back and forth. Brad thought at the time he had the next Nadal.

Lets talk in a few years about who was further off in their predictions.

Huh, interesting way of admitting you were wrong by making sure to say the other guy is probably still wrong.

I will have to read through this whole thread and see who said what LOL ,how the heck did you find this thread with such a great title ?

Brad, I still don't know how you did it. I saw the kid play when he was at Los Caballeros. And the results speak for themselves.

But to get into the main draw as a junior with that track record. You are good at what you do. Man, no wonder why US junior tennis is going down the drain.

But good luck to the kid though.

I understand where your coming from , for a guy who plays tennis a lot at a 3.5 level and being 5'4 inches tall it called the Napoleon complex and its a rough life you go through but I am there for you if you need to talk or you need help with finding a step- ladder I can help you sore to new heights you never thought were possible .

Hang in there lil guy its all good but don't lash out it will cause and ulcer !

On TCF behalf he was debating his position on what he believes and yes he got ugly but I am ok with it , he must receive credit for helping out many on this board and even DB , he caused our team to re-evaluate all we were doing and that caused us to constantly tweek our game plan and helped us get better and better .

TCF if your in NY next week somehow please feel free to stop by .

As much as you two have gone back and forth I have to commend you Brad on your show of kindness to TCF. Good luck to the boy in NY. We'll be following and pulling for him.

Thanx , even though he has been a tough critique on what we have and are doing he has caused us to constantly check our position and what were doing and has caused improvement and a harder work ethic and I do mean that and I thank him for it .

Were still a long ways off yet so close to our goals , I was shocked they asked him to play the main draw so hopefully the kid makes the best of this opening he has here in the Open .. Thanx again

Brad, don't write about yourself that way. I don't play tennis that much but I like it. BTW, I am impressed that you actually know who Napoleon was. I guess you have to have some brains to work your way around the system.

I don't know what you did, but you sure know how to grease the wheels. I guess the wheel that makes the loudest noise will get the grease, no matter how crappy the wheel is. People will know that the kid didn't get there based on his results. We all know that. That is why the US tennis system is going down the drain. I think kids should get a shot based on his/her results not based on how tight the elbows of the inner circle.

Good job Brad for getting your kid to the junior Open considering he didn't even get to the quarter in solCal event. That's why people say it's who you know to get you what you want. Brad can grease wheels. Were you a part-time mechanic by chance on top of your full-time job being a massage therapist?

TCF you owe me one please explain to tennis bum how DB has the results and the potenial to have been offered a wild card into the USO jrs he doesn't get it

I'll answer for him. It's because he's a pro. If its on the down low that's cool. Congratulations. Seriously. You know I've always wished the best for DB.

See you in Birmingham in Oct. I hope to meet you and DB then if you're there.

does anyone know of a good junior tennis betting site where you can put down everything you own???

is this a cruel joke by the USTA after he got kicked in the head by an unseeded player in the zoo consos? i suspect the players in this draw are going to be slightly better

after cruel joke, my second guess is there's someone at the usta who finds the fights on these boards funny and wanted to see db's dad have something to brag about and stir things up again after his son flopped at the zoo

ps, is the glass man still injured? or not til he gets punched in the mouth in NY?

I bet that the players are a lot better. Brad is good at greasing wheels. Be prepared to face the consequences of your back-door decision Brad. I don't like people using back doors for entry when everyone is waiting in line to get in and competing fairly.

Oh, what the hell am I writing about, Brad is from California. He knows the system quite well with illegal entrance through the back doors.

Good luck to your kid.

The kid will do well. Let him play first.

If the USTA gave him the card it was fair. Likely was not the first WC of its kind by any stretch. Actually quite common.

Been a supporter since all the D2 talk back in the day which I laughed at. The kid had/has much better than D2 strokes which is the base of your game. His tennisinformation.com results suggested he wasn't playing a game just to win, but also a game for development and he has maintained his blue chip status through the last 4 years plus. He had the height at an early age without looking physically developed which gives him big potential on the serve. Very impressive and well deserved for DB. Hope he makes the most of it and gets some good experience on the big stage. Best of luck! :)

TR.net has him as the #3 rising junior. He is young to get the WC, but it's a stretch to say it isn't justifiable.

Agreed its justifiable but not too young to get WC. Kozlov is the one kid that everyone continues to ? as a long term player. At 14 and he had decent showing at Junior Wimbledon and Kalamazoo. He may not be big but he may have the highest tennis IQ of any kid in the world that I've seen play.

I'm not familiar with DB. Saw him play once for 5 minutes. I have seen many US Open junior matches through the years.
Some of the wildcards seem to make no sense. I have seen them put undersized 15 year olds out there who get mercilessly pounded. From what I've read DB has good size and strength and has made deep runs in some Super Nationals. He is more deserving of a wild card than other past recipients.

Saw him play at Easter Bowl 2 years ago. I was amazed at what he could do given he was undersized and playing up. Stood 8 feet behind the baseline and conterpunched. Great anticpation and shot slection. Never missed the target, even when it was small. Does he still play this way? It's the opposite of what I teach and like. Not a pro style of play, but all credit to him and his family. Amazing talent.

Don't be a jerk using common sense and logic your gonna confuse the rest of the posters OK !

They look at him semi's both super nats rnd 16 at zoo won the local regional in So Cal had a pretty solid year and they ask why he got a wild card , I won't not the education or college thinking on this one .

Seriouly using common sense on here will really confuse everyone so don't do it again !!!

nothing to do with young, like another poster said i'm fine with kozlov's WC, that kid is a bigtime player

regardless, i don't care whether others think this one is "justifiable" - i'm just excited to see him even more over his head in NY than he was at the zoo

the only sad part for me is i won't be able to bait dad into keeping his son in the consos to suffer a hype-deflating loss in this tourney

Not cool... keep it about tennis.

Lets put things in context. Back then Brad was baiting everyone and calling them worthless and horrible, lazy American coaches. So they shot back saying his kid would be a d-2 player. Do you really think anyone cared or thought they were accurately predicting what college level an 11 year old would end up? Of course not. I like Brad a lot, but lets not paint him as the innocent in the back and forth that went on. He also dished out plenty.

I agree . But not much of his thinking has changed !

I watched him and Noah Rubin this past month and was wowed by both of them, although they are both really short.

What impressed me is that Kozlov seems to have excellent anticipation of where the ball is going to land, and I don't know if that is something that anyone can teach.

Noah plays the % higher then any junior out there and that's Kozlovs strength anticipating pretty solid , I would like to see them build him more offensive it would compliment the defense he has .

I like guys like you , you never had these kinda results , your angry cause you wish you could attempt to play on the same court as DB but know you would get squashed and you like most would never have the pebbles in your pockets to say something like you do on here face to face ,,

This shows me your mom raised you and never told you "no" and you have learned in the real world guys like you can only have a big mouth hiding behind a screen name . To this I laugh and entertained by you . Oh yah are you gonna be at the Open ?

nope won't be at the Open this year, and certainly i'll never be there playing

been clear in a previous thread w/ you that i'm not at the level of your son, never won more than one main draw match in an individual supernats, was barely inside the top 200 in the country in 18s - i'm cool with how my life is turning out - enjoying playing on a local 5.0 league and becoming a doctor in a few months (i've heard it's a slightly more stable profession in the long run than attempted professional tennis player) - and it's nice not having a dad who can't spell who pimps me out on the internet as someone who's the future of american tennis and too good for college tennis, all while i get smacked in the head by juniors who aren't even seeds at the zoo

clearly, i like guys like you too

Bingo! Nothing about you has changed. Still blowing hot air again. Let's see what we will hear about after NY. If we don't hear from you, we get it.

Keep going through back doors Brad, I guess that is all you can do. USTA should, but it doesn't, give WCs to those who truly deserve them based on some kind of track records of performance not to a kid who has a loud-mouth dad that does nothing at tourneys but to talks about how many sponsors his son has.

At least you get to see NY Open for the first time in your life. Keep your mouth shut when you are there, New Yorkers don't like blabber mouth like you. I wouldn't want you to get mugged because I still want you to entertain us with you nonsensical back-door logic about tennis.

That's funny, your kid is nothing like you. That's a good thing. I wonder what kind of a student you were when you were in high school. The L word comes to mind but only you can answer that.

the other thing i like about you, brad, is you were dumb enough to make your injured kid play in the consos at the zoo just because some blabber-mouth (yours truly) got under your skin and predicted you would yank him due to fear of a 14yo (kozlov)

is db mad at you for risking his health to try to make a point to me? imagine how that could've appeared to be a solid tourney if he had pulled out after taking redlicki to 3...instead the zoo became a total public failure for your brand...sad...

Duke must be so proud to produce such a fine representative of its prestigious program.

But, isn't it odd to correct someone's spelling with improper capitalization?

perhaps :)

i see a message sent to me in all lowercase and think it's laziness, typed on a phone, etc

i see people mix up your/you're, its/it's, etc - and realize they didn't go to my middle school since they would not have graduated yet

Think about it couldn't make it in tennis and is training to one day do colon checks on men over 40 , trust me I am therapy for children like this .
