Assuming this an 18x20 string pattern, your stringer appeared to have tied off your cross string in the wrong grommet. She came up through the main tie off and tied a knot above the main knot? How and why she did that I don't know.

She should have started her crosses at the top, tied off at 6 and then end up on the bottom at the 12th grommet to tie off. It's even labeled "tie off cross." I wouldn't imagine the overall tension holding well at all on the bed, if not snapping first. Not to mention, those knots need a good tail trimming as well.

I wouldn't be happy with this string job and take it back if I were you. Especially for a pro stock! Just my 2 cents.

I don't believe anything will 'feel' different unless the knot actually breaks. Nothing short of that would affect the tension appreciably. Did you get the impression she was drinking before or during the stringing :)...that tie-off is pretty creative!

I'd make sure SHE knows that YOU know and head on out to the courts! I'd let her offer something, but I wouldn't be cutting the new strings out unless she just wants to 'make it right'.

I'm surprised she was able to get 3 strings through the same grommet! It's definitely a sloppy job. Maybe she's new at this and will get better, or maybe she's just not a good stringer. The knot will probably hold up, but let her know you found it. If she doesn't offer up something like a refund or free restringing, I would suggest going somewhere else next time.

I'm subscribing to this theory. :)

From Microgel onwards, Head have made it super-easy by actually writing 'Tie-off Main' and 'Tie-off Cross' on the frame, along with the dots to tell you which grommets are for mains.

yes, it is a 18x20 string pattern...by the way , the tension of Prince Premiere was low (I'd asked for 21)...now it seems to be around 18:shock:! luckly the rest is in good tension:)!

If there are other reasons besides tennis for her to string your racquets, I would suggest you think about getting your own stringing machine. It gives you an excuse to string your own racquets, so now you won't offend her by taking it to someone else.

just since the "my cook" and bimby companies where bought by StringWay, those machines now have a tension machine that can pull tennis/badminton strings and pull spaghetti string to hard boil them at the same time (depending on tension and how long you take to finish a full hybrid string job - you dont want your spaghetti to over cooked!!)

Do you think there is a reason she has two strings tied off there. I mean did she have to splice your strings - six knots?

Rule of thumb, the closer the tie off from the last exit, the better.

In this case its pretty far from the last main. 2 knots on the same string doesn't make much sense and the second to the last main is right there and big enough for cross tie off. Did she give an reason why she did it this way? This looks pretty bad IMO.

I never understood why other Manufacturers have not made this a standard as well. Makes it easier to string and easier to check for someone that just gives their racket to someone else for stringing. Also it should be in the Manufacturers interest to have people use the right tie-off grommets
