Extended autograph session with...

Anyone get to experience an extended autograph session with their favorite tennis player? Not like the quick "scribble scribble", then the player is gone, but actually a bit of conversation, pictures, autographs, etc.

Let me start off with mine: Roger Federer at Indian Wells 2012

When Federer is barely available during the entire week leading up to this point, how else can I get his autograph?
  1. You can't get his autograph before or after a match unless you have tickets to the seats right next to the entrance. The security guards block anyone from walking down and waiting
  2. Federer barely practiced at all at the Indian Wells tennis courts. He would come in for a half hour then leave the back way due to his sickness. Barely anyone had a chance to get his autograph at all after practices.
  3. After all his matches, he wouldn't walk out to the IW practice courts like any other player (Nadal, Djokovic, etc.). He would just go out to this parking lot and leave.
And finally, you are really quite rude to assume something even before you know the entire story. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

You stalker!

If you want to talk extensively to the top 8 and get everything autographed/signed + a few photos with them, then the best place is London.

For the World Tour Finals, specfically. All the players travel by boat to and from the O2. So if you keep your wits about amongst all the huge hustle and bustle of tourists taking photos in front of the London eye and Houses of Parliament you'll see Federer freely walking by, bags free, with security following with some distance behind - travelling from the boat 'station' to the hotel which is riverside.

Got a great chance to see all the players (and doubles)

If only I had that chance. But alas, IW was the first opportunity in my life to get an autograph. I have never been to any professional tennis event before.

Great video! :). I admire you guys who hunt down the players. You are so brave.

Meh, wait around in the right place and the right time - bingo.

At the end of the day, they're human beings and wanna keep their fans happy. Even Rafa said he liked my scarf when I got his autograph

That's nice, you got to see Rafa and get his autograph. I have lost my chance to see Rafa as he has retired.

Funny! :). I fear he has retired, just binding his time. He should just get it over and done with.

Interesting theory. Hard to say because Tony is always so cagey with the truth whenever Rafa is not playing, so we'll know when we know. I really never thought he would end his career with a whimper like that, but life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.

The phrase is actually "biding time" not binding time. :)

Yeah, I never though Rafa would end on that Rosol match either! But, it is so strange how he hasn't played since then. It's getting hard for me to believe he will be back. I suppose I am getting prepared for it. I hope I am wrong and my imagination has taken over! Plus Team Nadal make up stories galore!

He might be back but that does mean he will play well,or be as good as he used to be. When he starts having Roddick like losses,he will definitely call it a career.

Went to Cincy this year, for autographs you could wait by the entrance to the players lounge and if you do it quickly, get a quick picture with Roger. I also managed to get some by waiting by the Broadcasting Booth and the entrance to the practice courts.

I got Serena's autograph at Indian Wells this year right after her semi-final match. She was so nice and patient. I bet we talked for over an hour.

I heard that's her favorite tournament. She loves the crowd there.
