This is the best possible place for Murray to face Federer.

It's a semi-final. It's a hard court. It's a Masters.

I think Federer will win this match if he really wants it (or really wants to end the year on a high note) but Murray won't be easy to beat. All in all, as a Fed fan I don't have high expectations. Cool if he wins, go on if he loses.

Surprised if it's in straight sets to either. I'll pick Fed but a very slight margin. Form of the day decides!

Federer is not even close to the form he needs to beat murray! either murray plays bad or Fed plays much much better for Fed to win.

Both guys haven`t played that well so far and who will take the chances will win. It`s an even matchup and form on the day will decide it

Didn't Murray play a terrible match today? Oh wait, most TTWers have the memory of a goldfish and do not remember more than the last match they watched. (and yes, I know that goldfish don't forget sh*t all the time)

Both are not in topform, if Murray gets healthier til tomorrow, I think he will win. However I don't see one of them win the tournament!

I really don't even think Federer played that poorly, to be honest. Had some brain farts when serving, but his form off the ground looked pretty good, honestly. His returning mindset was exceptional.

Terrible play but still wins: huh... if he's feeling better tomorrow (physically), what do you expect from his performance?

Does Federer even have a chance against Murray ? He is so old, he might need a walker to play the match. and andy matches up really well and he is on hot streak.

Federer needs to win Shanghai if he wants a shot at year-end no. 1. His remaining three tournaments are all in consecutive weeks, so it'll be more difficult to win those or even reach the later rounds perhaps. If he loses here, he puts himself in a position where he can't slip up.

2010 Shanghai Final:
[4] Andy Murray (GBR) def. [3] Roger Federer (SUI)
6-3, 6-2

That was after Federer had dismissed the likes of Isner, Soderling and Djokovic without the loss of a set.

No matter how well Federer's playing, Murray has his number, especially at a hard court Masters 1000. Murray to deliver his best performance of the week, thrashing Federer in 2 comfortable sets. 6-2, 6-4.

but that's usually what makes him tensed and lose :(

Right. This could be a boring semi with domination. If Roger doesn't win anymore than 4 games, ticket holders should ask for their money back.

I'm not at all convinced about Murray's form at the moment. He struggled a bit too much putting away Stepanek for my liking. As usual with him, its a case of 'Which Murray is going to show up?"

If he's on form, he has a good chance, if he plays like today...not so good!

Remember what happened in that Gold medal match. It was not fun. Andy seem to really like playing roger and when andy is moving well, Roger doesnt' seem to be able to hurt him and Over-hits. and starts to miss like crazy.

The only reason Murray does have a chance is that it's not a major. Federer is so much better in the big tournaments, even at 40 I'd favor him against Murray. Well at least if he's not after a 5 hour match like at the Olympics.

Federer owns Murray a** when it matters.

so then why did he get blown out in Gold medal match ? Roger said he wanted the gold medal in singles as much as he wanted any slam title in the interview. and yet he got blown out.

He's 31 and didn't recover in time (he would if he were younger). You'll understand when you get older.

Btw I wonder how a 31-year old Murray would do against peak Federer. Cause we already know that a fairly fresh ******* owned him in the Wimbledon final.

I don't care who wins. As long as Fed is playing, it's enjoyable. If he wins, even better!
Ontopic: Fed in 3

Oh now Roger has age excuse built in. so from now on, everytime he loses, it is his age, not that other guy was better.

I can't wait to see Murray at 31, then. He can use all the excuses he needs. Right now he can keep holding his back faking injury if he can't use the age card yet.

That is right. His back is pretty bad right now. and his knees, his neck and his ankle which he twicked in US open. oh and his wrist too when he landed on it few matches back.

The gap with both of them is increasing. Murray getting better Fed getting worse

Absolutely. Which is probably why Federer won 6 of their last 9 matches, and 3 of the last 4... ;)

Could go either way tomorrow, and so could the other semi, to be honest (I don't feel that Djokovic has such a margin over Berdych as he had before, but I might be wrong, we'll see).

The interesting thing will be to see whether Federer and Djokovic suddenly raise their level when they need to with year-end #1 on the line (not that Federer would need to raise anything should today's Murray show up, but better count on him playing (much) better tomorrow).

Turning it into a joke isn't gonna help you.

For all the predictions which you got right, if Federer wins tomorrow I'm gonna make you eat your own c**p. Maybe that will teach you a lesson before writing idiotic statements.
