Serena has done this a lot. Someone posted a video of her playing Mauresmo at the FO a long time ago and apparently Mauresmo said something Serena didn't like and when they played their match, Serena was playing with this angry frown her face the whole match.

It looked really stupid.

That was the turning point in their rivalry. Maria never regained the mental edge (she actually won the two meetings between them leading up to that match if I remember correctly).

I love the clip where maria hits an overhead close to being at serena and in the slowmo you can see serena mouth "b!tch". No love lost between those two.

Anyway I'd say the most emotional match ever would be the Hingis Graf '99 FO final

Serena is the only female player who could intimidate me in a match, I think (of course every top 500 WTA player would throw a double bagel on me but that's not the point). If a Sharapova or an Azarenka shouted a "come on" in my face and threw a fist pump I'd be like "LOL you don't scare me b////"

Mauresmo said a williams-williams final is boring. Serena and Venus were in 4 consecutive major finals. This is what Queen Serena did to her at the FO.

Still Serena's first defeat in 34 Grand Slam matches :). And it wasn't the FO final or WB final. She routed Clijsters in the FO final and Serena beat Venus in the WB final.

I'm convinced that if these ladies put half of that typical emotional energy toward their fundamental tennis, we'd probably have some half-decent action going on.

Instead, we've got this bizarre puree of batting practice, screams of child birth, and boo-boo lip posturing worthy of afternoon soaps.

Jesus, this vid should come with an audio warning. Sharapova made my ears bleed, in several points she sounds like she is getting stabbed.

And the scream on a volley was hilarious.

Looking at this vid, I have to laugh at those that belive that all grunters are the same. Even the worst ATP grunter isn't half as annoying as a Shriekapova/Azarenka.

Thankfully that DeBrito chick is so low in the rankings that we don't get to see a lot of her in the later stages of important tournies.

Imagine the SF of a tourney consisting of Sharapova/Azarenka/DeBrito/some poor schmuck. You would have to hand out earplugs to all the unfortunate souls in the crowd.

Sharapova definitely took the grunting beyond over the top here. I would also say though that this is the turning point in their rivalry, and Serena was lucky to escape those 3 match points. Winning must have been so sweet.

I think Maria might get her on red clay.

It's tough because Maria embarrassed her in the first Wimbledon encounter, then edged her at the year-end finals and nearly beat her here. So, as much as she hates Maria, she does respect her game and comes out to fight every time they play.

It's kind of annoying to see everyone trash one or the other player. Doesn't anyone like them both? I think they're both great. Probably their best match along with the year-end final.

Crazy dramatic. Unfortunately the original link I posted was deleted from youtube. It had all the glares and stares they gave each other, but Sharapova's screaming is of course in tact.

Incredible match--a tennis clinic and shutting down the vitriol spewed my Mauresmo against the Williams sisters. Beyond excellent court sense by Serena.
