I think this is just the match Rafa needed. Maybe not what he wanted. But certainly, one he needed.

ehh i don't think nadal declined that much zeballos played his heart out in the tb i expect nadal to take the set 6-2 or 6-1

Rafa lost sets on clay in the past: to Ferrer, mugro, even Gulbis. As long as he doesn't lose matches, who cares?

Yeah he needs this, it's an indicator of things to come and he needs to be prepared for a a big challenge the next few months.

And now Rafa is able to bring his champion qualities into the match, by breaking a player who had the momentum to love. This match is a blessing for Rafa. He's needs all facets of his game, both mental and physical tested.
