I am a Wizards fan and we don't look half bad now that John Wall is back. Bradley Beal is also much better than I expected. Maybe there is a HOPE! Still miss those days when Jamison, Butler, & Agent 0 would drop 70 points between themselves.

More real estate for marketing and endorsement. Like back in the 80's and 90's, some of the pro tennis players' shirt looked like the bumper of an overly-proud parent/community activist.

well
first it started with the warmups gear
the ones they used before were awesome, not like the actual adidas bs

just compare

This year's lottery pick possibilities just took a hit with UK's Noel going down with a gruesome knee injury in a game vs the Gators. I wish him luck in recovering.

Its aklot easier to deal with ego when you three peat every 5 years.

I dont want to come off as being anti Phil Jackson. He is the man, but I still think Pops gets more out of his players top to bottom than any other coach in my lifetime. Si I cant really commment on Aurbach and thos old dudes. But part of me thinks that Celtics dynasty had to do witht he leadership and defensive abilty of one Bill Russell than any specifi skill that Aurbach possesed. But All great coaches have had great players as well.

I guess its like a catch 22

all are great coaches and all had help from two hall of famers or more on each roster but can't knock them still.

"Greatest Magic season in a long time"???

We're only a few seasons removed from an NBA Finals appearance, so I have to disagree. I can symphasize with the notion we're headed in the right direction by jettisoning D12, his enormously selfish ego and huge contract. Other than that, I gain no confidence from the "progress" made this year. I fear a culture of defeatism could spring forth from these losing binges...losing begets an expectation that something will always go wrong. It's happening this year...look at the huge rash of injuries as the first example of things going from bad to worse.

All great teams are driven by at least one "straw that stirs the drink". Right now, we've got a lot of drink but no straw. It's gonna be a fine line management and the coaches will walk to keep "the plan" on track if and when we import through the draft or free agency the necessary straw. Until that happens, I expect a lot more losing than winning. Unfortunately, there are a lot more "Dwights" out there than there are "Tims.

I dont see it that way at all. Even with that finals team we had no real plan. It was chuck 3s and rely on Dwight. Now we are building the right way. We have a really great coach in Vaughn. He can keep everyone focused and positive during the losing. We are not going to sign any overpriced FAs and handcuff our salary again. The inuries to guys like Hedo and other vets are fine. They just open up PT for the young guys.

I hope Noel is ok. That guy next to Vuc would be scary. Develop that in 2013 and draft more studs in 14.

I blame the coaching staff for that. Defensively, yeah he gets it done. But you can't rely on him offensively. If anything, he's a liability offensively. Especially back in the Orlando Magic days where he had no moves (he doesn't have much now, but more than before for sure). It was catching the ball way outside the key, not establishing position, then bumrush and mow somebody down. And hope the refs won't call a charge.

Yes but if you run it like that he gets mad and pouts. That is the problem. He wants the ball all the time. Orlando catered to this because they expected to see him develop his offensive game each year. They overcatered to him by running a college spread pick and roll offense that would have worked better if he had athletes on the wings who could create off the dribble.

IMO, the best offense would have been balanced more like our 95 team was. That was the best Magic season of all time. We had a PF (Horace Grant)who made the open free throw line J, a 3 point specialist in D Scott, a classic SG who could dribble and drive or shoot 3s in Nick Anderson, and a complete stud at PG in Penny who could do anything. It was a perfect compliment to Shaq.

But the team was built without a good plan around Dwight. Hedo leaves? Lets panic and get Vince Carter. Bad move. Rashard is off PEDs? Thats ok, let's continue to play him down low anyway. It was just a poorly built team with zero roster flexibility.

Its a shame Dwight left, but I watch Nick Vuc and think he could become a better all around C anyway. He will never be an athletic freak who can block everything, but his post moves are super smooth and he can shoot as well. He already set our franchise rebounding record which to me is very impressive.

It is just a really exciting time because we are not going to cater to clowns like Dwight anymore. Let LA deal with it. We want young guys who can be developed by this new staff to stay humble and focused on the team concept. Not everyone will stick, but I think our rep for losing star players will end finally.

Yes but if you run it like that he gets mad and pouts.

He pouts everytime he doesn't score with the ball. And he looks to the refs with that disgusted look. Whether or not he gets hit, stop complaining, and get back on D.

I'm just saying, if an oversized forward like LeBron James can check you (a starting center), then you're not potent. An aged Kevin Garnett can outplay you, then it's wrap.

It sucks man. Enjoy it out there..lol. I am honestly glad he is gone. Total team killer.

It is sad since he is the best C in the game, yet is detoriating quickly due to injury and attitude.

He's the best of the current bunch, but I don't think he's even on the list when NBA used to be dominated by centers.

That's like saying Federer is the best volleyer. Currently yes, but that's because he one of the few that still does it. I wouldn't put him up there with the Rafters/Sampras/McEnroe.

Agree. I'm just saying he is the best in the game currently, not of all time.

I was crushed when we lost Shaq. That really hurt. This did not.

Hedo just suspended for 20 games for steroid use. Much more PT for the young uns!

Noel is done for the year...torn ACL. While he is a great talent, I'm remembering Grant Hill arriving on crutches to sign his Magic contract. Would the new regime take that kind of risk on a lottery pick?

Great question. I think the answer is yes. We all know that knee will be analyzed to death by every NBA doctor. As long as there is no structural damage, he will be fine. The injury to fear is the back. That can ruin an NBA career.

I have wanted Noel next to Vuc for months now. Imagine that frontcourt. Nasty shotblocking and rebounding. Then you can rotate in Nicholson and Oquinn for a super deep and young frontcourt.

Hedo - lol..Harkless will continue to develop along wth Jones, which is great. This is fun to watch even though our record looks so bad.

It is structural..Noel is insured so I'm guessing a phone call to Dr. Andrews has already been made for the reconstruction.

Every rehab is different...what it does to his exploviseness nobody will know until the 8-12 months rehab normally takes. That will be a big gamble to take straight up...maybe a team that covets another of the top prospects trades up a quality veteran to the Magic and we can snag Noel further down in Round 1.

I meant permanent structual damage that looks like it coud be recurring. The reason i am optimistic is because ACL surgery is an art form now in pro sports. Players recover from ACLs so much faster, look at adrian peterson.

I think he will go top 3 still, but its a gamble for sure. This is not a deep draft though and he was one of the few gamechangers in it. I wont cry if we get mclemore or smart either. Lol.

... **** don't get anymore structural than shredding a stabilizing ligament yo.

Every rehab case is different...Peterson is an anamoly not a template. I'll be curious how Derrick Rose looks in his return if he suits up for the Bulls' end of the season/playoff run. Even if those results are encouraging, taking Noel real high is a crapshoot the franchise can ill afford.

Rondo expected back by training camp. Noel should be on the same timetable. Now the question is - will he leave or come back for a full year at Ky?

Definitley a risky pick..but say the Magic are at spot 4 or 5..Ben Mac and smart are gone and Noel slips to the Magic.

Thats a super tough decision. Obviously the Magic don't want to miss in a draft. But then again, the Magic also know the '14 draft is where they can change the franchise if they can suck bad enough to get Wiggins (potential FSU committ?? :) ).

So if you draft Noel after verifying his health, I feel like it is worth the risk. You put him next to Vuc down low and that becomes one of the best young front courts in the NBA.

Heat manhandling thunder. Thunder look terrible. Westbrook isn't good enough. Not enough supporting pieces. This is what happens when KD has a bad game, nothing else. I know the heat are the best team in the league but this is bad. This is also another example of how lebron is the best player in the nba. Dude is a total stud.

Why does Scottie Pippen never get any love? Dude was the prototype when it comes to point forwards. Minus the vision LeBron's game reminds me of his. Tenacious on D, loves to get to the rack, and can guard any position on the court.

... He does. He gets referenced pretty much every time the conversation of a "perimeter stopper" is brought up...

I still think that's undervaluing his worth. When you hear analysts comparing talking about elite players or comparing draftees to former players I just feel like Pip doesn't get mentioned enough. He was a box score stuffer. He could score, rebound, & pass. His outside jumper improved throughout his career. He was just perennially the league leader in steals & could strap anyone up from the 1-4 position. When MJ retired he also put the Bulls on his back but people still give him stick for sitting out that last play against NY in the playoffs. I guess in the spirit of V-Day I wanted to show one of my all time favorites some love.

This just maybe the weakest draft ever so I wont be surprised if he still goes number 1, even with the torn ACL.

Yep. That is the thing. It is not a tragedy to miss in this year's draft. There will always be a surprise or two, but this draft is not a game changer. Noel, on the other hand, could develop into one.

I don't think he will go ahead of Ben Mac or even Zeller (not a fan), but we shall see what happens.

Yahoo Sports is reporting the Celts are shopping KG to the Clips in return for Bledsoe & D. Jordan. They must first get KG to waive his no-trade clause but his buddy, Billups, and the chance to hang at his own Malibu spread may be enough to get the Big Dipper out of Beantown.

If it goes down, I like this deal for both teams...Boston gains some youth and a bit of insurance at PG if Rondo's knee isn't 100% next year; The Clips have a better chance to wear some jewelry right away.

Wilt = Big Dipper. KG = Big Ticket. :?

Another crappy dunk contest.

The only good thing was the TNT crew cracking jokes left and right, and on everybody.

The crew on Russell Westbrook's shirt"

Charles: "Hey can y'all read what's written on Russell Westbrook's shirt?"

Kenny: "I don't know, but it should have said "I should have bought a T-shirt instead.""

Whatever pop the 3 pt contest gave the show was gone by the 2nd round of the dunk contest. Put 50 players in a lay-up line and let them dunk one after another. No contest

I bet the Clippers' pre-game warm-up dunk routine would put on a better show than these annual dunk contest.

Seriously, if it weren't for the crew cracking jokes during the dunk contest, I would have turned the TV off.

In the All-Star game, players should get fined for doing the following in the first 3 and a 1/2 quarters:

1) Taking mid-range jump shots. (Chris Bosh and Zach Randolph)

2) Blocking a shot/trying to stop a dunk/lay-up. That's not even a fine, that's an automatic suspension.

3) Dribble the ball for longer than 7 seconds. (Russell Westbrook)

4) Boxing people out.

5) Showcasing better dunks in-game than the crap in the dunk contest.

6) Stopping a fast break with a foul, that's also an automatic suspension. (Russell Westbrook)
