T Fight 315?

Alexjc1,

Still loving it after about 7 hrs of hitting. The feel is just so much better than my Bio 200G's. Groundstrokes are solid and it is easy to generate racquet head speed. The feel is dampened but not in a muted or bad way. It just makes shots feel clean and solid, even if off center. The more head light balance makes this thing handle really slick at the net. I find it easy to get to reflex volleys as well as being able to put volleys away.

Serving took me a bit of adjusting. I think it was because I had to put more effort into swinging the Dunlops. When I first started serving with this one, I think I was swinging too hard. As soon as I started focusing on a smooth, relaxed motion, I started putting the ball in reliably and with good pop. It also has easy access to spin for slice and kick serves.

I couldn't be happier with my switch to these (misprinted frame and all). Does everything as good if not better than my Dunlops and is a much more comfortable racquet. Definitely worth a try for anybody using Dunlop 200G or 300 series racquets I think.

Wowzers!!!

First outing with the 315 Ltd. 18 M today was fantastic! It came strung from TW with Volkl Cyclone Tour at 48lbs. I loved almost everything about how it played today. Groundstrokes were fantastic. Plenty of power to be had if you put some effort into it. I took a few lazy backhands where I didn't put my body into it and they fizzled into the net. The control was great. The best part was that for the first time I really felt that I could swing out and consistently keep the ball in the court. Slices were nasty! Return of serve had been a weakness of mine. I hit nothing but solid returns with the 315 today. My slice serves were on par with my Donnay P1 and BB London. The one thing I struggled with were my flat 1st serves. Could not get them dialed in. Again TW lists the swing weight at 309. Maybe the Shock Absorber/extra grommets make the swing weight heavier than listed spec? I'm going to have to break out the tape measure and swing weight calculator because this thing swings heavier than my Pro 1's. Not ready to make a switch but a great start! lightyears better then my outing with the Dunlop F3.0 Tour.

Hey Roll, have to say you're extremely positive review has my interest peaked on this one. We seem to gravitate towards the same rackets so when I read your review, naturally I was extremely interested. Glad to hear the swing weight is much higher than specs say, that was one of my initial worries. How is the plow through? The only other concern I had was the very thin beam and very flexible stiffness rating. Does it play very flaxseed and absorb a lot of pace without giving much back? Does the very thin beam make it hard to use in any way or more of a players racket? What do you think is the minimum player level for this racket?

You really should demo this one (18 mains). The swing weight perplexes me. I'm not sure if I got one that is way off spec or if its like the Pro 1 meaning the listed specs are off from the actual specs. I forgot to mention how comfortable it is. Felt really plush. More so than my P1 & BB London's. plow through was good. Not as meaty as the Pro 1. More so than the London. TW lists the Prestige MP under similar racquets. I have not played with a Prestige in a looong time so i can't make that comparison. The reason I had issues with my first serve was because of the heft. Next week I'll weigh it to see what the static weight is. I've grown to like thin beams so I like it. I honestly think a 3.5 level player would do well with this racquet as long as its not too heavy. 4.0 and above should do really well with it. Another thing I forgot to mention was that the sweet spot felt ample and the touch at net was superb. I want to give it more time before I pass final judgement. Hope it's just not a honeymoon!!

I would try the 16 mains model myself.

Thank you mlocke1322.

It is great to hear so many positive things. Sounds like these racquets are the real deal, and will be a great addition to the Tecnifibre line.

Hmmm the specs in racquetfinder are different from the website. Stiffness is way low at 61 and 59 respectively. Interesting if the metallic ping of the Tfights make an appearance.

Swingweight is so low too. I thought it'll be close to around 5-6 pts HL strung since the unstrung balance at the website was at 8 HL

No metallic ping!! at least not the one I've got.

Hi all, the T-fight 315 ltd. uses TK82 pallets so I decided to show some pictures of what is underneath. Enjoy!

Sorry, I hope this works. I replaced the original TK82 pallets with the TK82S. The odd thing is that one of the original pallet weighed in at 15 grams and the other weighed 8 grams.

did the original had residual glue all over it?

either way, that can easily be adjusted with lead tape or putty
inside the handle.

Yes, it had clear double sided tape all around the bare handle. It was fairly easy to remove the pallets and residue.

Great post and thanks for the information finnster!

Hmmm, I wonder if all new Tecnifibre frames also have this feature. It would be fantastic if so.

TK82 pallet?! the t-fight is screaming cap grommets! now I really can't wait to get my hands on it now to test the cap grommets

Hidious-

The graphic card that comes with the racquet appears to show silicone as part of the layup of the handle as opposed to something injected into it. I haven't investigated as I don't have the courage to take mine apart right now but Tecnifibre's info says they are using fiber silicone and the image diagrams it as a layer in the layup of the handle.

I did the same thing as finnster -- replaced the original TK82 pallets with the TK82S -- no problems.
My racket also shows PT965 code on it.
The CAP Grommets will NOT fit. The hole spacing is not the same.

There is no silicone as part of layup -- it is injected in the handle, but deeper in. Not sure what the amount is.

Will hit with it tomorrow

OK, so far, I am really liking the stick, so, I ordered me another one, just to make sure they don't run out of them.
It is stable, just the amount of power I like, great control, decent spin.
There is no metallic/pinging sound without the dampener.
Feels nice, not too soft, definitely not stiff.
It is strung with Solinco Tour Bite at 58/55.
I replaced the pallets and put the TK82S. Put some lead in the hoop. It is 345g strung, now.

FH is OK, need to work a little bit on my depth.
Backhands are awesome.
SLices are great, too.
Decent maneuverablility on the net. Probably better for those who do not put any lead in the hoop and like it more HL.

My serves are good with this stick. It took only about 10 serves to get it tuned in. 2nd has a decent kick for this closed pattern.

Will continue tomorrow...

Where do you get the TK82S pallets?

I got the pallets from the racquet depot UK. THey are priced fair, shipping is cheap and they arrived in 10 days.

Finnster:
I am not sure about the weight, however, the original pallets on my TF315 were (Head) TK82, so, there should be no weight difference.

I placed about 10g of lead from 4 to 8 o'clock

dr325i: oh okay, my original tk82 pallets weighed 23 gram. One pallet weighed 15 gram and the other was 8 gram. My tk82s both weighed equally about 8 or 9 grams each.

I know very few people have this frame in hand at this point but I am very curious about the mold. Can anybody say if it looks like the old pre-vo2 T-fight 325 mold or more like pre-vo2 T-Fight 320 which is essentially a 300 tour mold. This one is quite easy to recognize when you see it, it has a very characteristic oblong shape.

Thanks in advance.

Can you measure the distance from the butcapp, where the silicone is located ?

Thank's

ART^2:
Mine has the cotton patch or something on the bottom of it. So, I assume the silicone is right after that. If so, it is about an inch to inch and a half from the buttcap.

Wow, thanks for the replies about the mold.
So... thin beam, flexible, good feel, siliconed, customizable, inter-changeable pallets, available in 2 string patterns ????

I am so buying this frame .

I can confirm all that after about 4 hours of hitting with it. WIll continue playing with it this week before going on vacation next week....

My strokes are solid and seem much more fluid and easier than with the Speed. They are still shorter than I would like them to be and than where they were falling with the Speed.

SLices are great and easy to do.
Volleying is great and the soft feel adds to it.

Control is great with the stick, not only directional but also the power control.

The power is less than Speed MP, but more than, for example, Prestige MP (not by much though, right where I like it).

My serves are pretty much back to where they were with the Speeds, and I like it. I can control where I put the ball without sacrifising the speed. Still working on the 2nd kick improvement since the string spacing is very tight.

However, although the string spacing is tight, the spin access is plenty (kind of like with the G-Speed Pro) and the sweet spot is generous.

Will update more at the end of the week when I should have about 15 hours on it.

dr325i, are you familiar with the TF 325 (thus the name)? can you compare the 315 to that one? thats my main stick now and i am thinking about getting a 18x20 315, was going to get a second 325 but may just pick up the 315 and lead it up.

i don't know what people are talking about with the 'metallic ping' in the 325, but i did find it to be a pretty stiff racket. so i'm curious to try something a little more flaxible (tho i don't have arm troubles).

also, can someone clue me in on the advantage of interchangeable pallets? i've never messed with this before. i do find the 325 gripshape, for example, to be a little muted or rounded and would much prefer a more chiselled wilson-type shape. is that the main attraction to having a pallet you can change out?

I finally modified my 16x19 and took it out for a few hits. First impression this is very similar to my 57As, the TF has a little bit more pop but just a tad. The open pattern may be the difference but the feel is almost identical. The extra spin is a nice bonus but will take just a little getting used to. A great frame and a serious candidate to switch to. Will get another 4-6 hours this week and will post my thoughts...

What mods do you do it?

Actual specs?

This 16x19 must be very close to the PT57A with 16x19 pattern...

I hope they will sell it on EU...

Sorry, I haven't tried any TF since the old TF320/335. I believe this mold is very similar to it, although it has been a long time since I used them (2007).

This TF315 is definitely on a soft side. As ae1222 mentioned, it is very close to the PT57A -- it has silicone in it and I can set it the same way -- balance and weight (that is why I loved the PT57A vs. the stock PT630).

So far, after about 6 hours with it, I still like it, however, my FH is not as consistent as with the IG Speed MP 315, and my volleying needs some tuning. THe rest is great. It will take a few more hours before I decide the next step.

One thing is for sure -- my elbow and my wrist love it being a very soft racket, even with my usual, Solinco Tour Bite, setup.

As you mentioned, similarly for me, playing with Head rackets for the most of the last 7 years, I never got used to the Head grip shape (TK82 or TK57 or TK76 pallets). Great thing about Head (and a few other racket manufacturers) is that you can replace the pallets -- to change the grip size or...shape. TK82S pallet came out when the first generation Speed rackets launched and it has more wilson-like shape. I have been using those ever since.

I was really glad to see the pallets on this, TF315, stick.

BTW, search more on how to replace the pallets if you decide to do so. It is not very complex task, however, it is far from trivial.

Also wondering what mods you did to it

First I extended it to 27.5 and put TK82S pallets on it with Wilson shape and size 2.5. I lead mine up to 352g strung and balanced at 31.5 cm. Most of the lead ended up being in the handle, about 8g in the hoop at 6/9 o'clock.

I think it is a close to a PT57a as I have seen in a retail stick. Like dr325i, I am having a few control issues with it but I think it can be worked out. My forehand gets away from me a little so I am debating a little more lead in the hoop. But when I time it right I can really pound the ball and I get noticeably more action on the ball.

Will hit with it a few more times this week and see what happens. Also got a pacific x-force lite that I hit with briefly that felt really good (I played with the Fischer VT Pro 98 in college). Plus I hear these rumors of Prince releasing a new POG mid this summer (played with that for most of junior career). But this TF 315 feels great and does feel better to me than the old TF 325 original (this seems to have the same mold to me).

No when I first experimented with extending frames I tried doing it with just pallets and the bottom .5" was hollow the pallets would crack pretty quickly when you hit with them. I know have two methods: if the handle is already filled with silicone then I put on the extended pallets and then fill in the gap with more silicone. If it isn't like the TF 315, I then cut a spacer out of 1/2" fiberboard the same shape as the raw shaft and then silicone that onto the frame. Once that dries then I put the pallets on and you are good to go.

Hope that helps...

Got mine with black code 17 and its swing weight is 316 according to my ipad swing app.

Finally measured mine and the swing weight came in at 312. Only 3 points higher than listed on TW. Total weight with Solinco overgrip and the dampener that came with it is 12.2 oz.

Hi!
So you putting new grip 28", loading it with silicone and afterwords cutting 0.5". Or you are creating fiberoard as grip shape with 2 'legs' which are into handle and then you are putting palltes. Correct? WHich is better? Safer or easier?

thanks!

That is 345g.
Interesting as that is about 8g over what I expected it to be.
Mine was 332g strung before mods. which is expected from 315g + Poly. OG + Dampener should ad additional 7-8g.

I have it now at 348g (12.3 oz) with 10g of lead in the hoop.
My mods are:
- synthetic grip
- TK82S pallets
- Head buttcap with trap door (for extra silicone if needed)
- Solinco Tour Bite 17g
