95d will not replaced, and the current model is going to go out of production at december 2012. According to yonex 97 tour (in 310/330 grams ) will be the "new" 95d. Unfortunately.

no more no more 95d in 2013.

That would be sad. I know for sure the 98sq in platform has run pretty long in the yonex line. That is pretty much their constant between their production runs.

Just got back from hitting with my 95D. Yonex shouldn't discontinue this racket.

If they do dc it I'm stocking up on four more.

They said that who's playing now with 95D has double chance to upgrade:
97 tour 330 grams
97 tour 310 grams
that's all guys , 95d ,it's over.

What's this double chance?

Sounds improbable that they won't have anything between 89 and 97 for too long.

But then again they used to have nothing between 90 and 98.

I have a strange feeling that Yonex can't sell a racquet under 97" or over 310 grams except outside of Asian markets.

The problem I see so far is that he has 7 posts and most are in this thread alone.

Even if he was told the truth by his rep, it sounds like he's not within the US because the 310 tour was mentioned. I could call the US customer service and I may be told something different.

The 97 tour was a fine stick. I just liked the 95D much more when I was actively demoing the vcore line.

No microcore for the 100?

Not to derail the thread on Vcore95D's, but I recently demoed the Vcore 100S. Now I see the announcement for the new model with the micro core and it's only made my choice more difficult.

Does anyone have experience hitting with a non micro core and a micro core? What are the major differences?

TIA

i have a 95d (w/o mcore) and an 89t (w mcore) and i do find microcore makes the top of the hoop a little more responsive and it doesn't feel so bad when you hit a bit higher up the stringbed. that being said, it's a small difference and one that shouldn't really be a deciding factor.

the biggest change for me is the implementation of Xi in the new lines. do you mind playing with a squarer racquet?

anyway. really bummed there isn't anything 90-97sqi. :(

Thank you for the reply, it is very helpful. Does the mirco core stiffen the feel of the entire frame or does it really only affect the top of the string bed? I thought that the Vcore 100s was definitely more flexible feeling than a PDR, which is very stiff. I don't want something that is that stiff. The head shape may irritate me, lol. I did a quick demo with the xi 100 and it was a rocket launcher. Since I didn't hit with it long due to that I'm not sure if the shape of the head would interfere with my game or not.

Is Xi a material or does it refer to the shape of the head? If they're changing to a more square shaped head, that sounds like a different frame than a different composition/weight/balance.

The only reason it is Xi is because of the Micro Core technology on 10 and 2. Otherwise, the mould is the same. To all the 95D users, you guys better stock up!

XI = eXtra Isometric = squarer shaped head
the 95d is just about as square as i can go. why yonex, why!! why do you always have to keep doing this to us!

wrains, microcore is only on 10 and 2 and shouldn't affect the frame as a whole. you'd have to have very sensitive arms to feel the difference between a racquet with and without microcore (if struck on the sweetspot).

but i'm a 95sqi and under kind of dude..

it's been discussed before, but it's just yonex gains this legion of adoring fans for a particular racquet line and the next moment they totally alienate them and release a totally different line while discontinuing the previous. it's just frustrating.

Totally agree. The last time Yonex did this was wih the RDX500 series of rackets. The mid and MP were both excellent, but available for far too short a period of time.

Awesome, I wondered as I haven't demoed a frame with the micro core. So its confirmed that only the micro core is being added to the new Vcore's and that they are not changing the shape of the heads to the more square Ezone series frames? It seems that everyone enjoys these frames as they are, old motto: Don't fix it, if it's not broken!

what? where did you get that? the new line's called vCore Xi so its extra isometric (squarer head) and has micro core.

lol if only they'd just put microcore into the current vcore lineup i'd be the first to buy one. yonex is really exciting though, you never know what they're gonna come up with next.

This is a really string sensitive racquet (as the TW review correctly points out).

Have tried it with the yellow Yonex PTP string and whilst it suits the racquet pretty well, I find the string rather muted in terms of feedback, for what is already a pretty muted feeling racquet.

Tried BHBR16 - played pretty well, but the string feels really 'thin' and not meaty enough for some reason in this stick. Again, it was only with a change of string that I noticed how muted feeling the racquet is.

Any other suggestions for a meaty, 'full feeling' string?

I'm about to join the club. Will order 3 and I expect them to be delivered until next weekend.

Have been playing with the IG Prestige MP for the past year, and although I really like it, especially when compared to the last Youtek version, it was very underpowered in stock form and I never managed to find the right lead setup to add a bit more power.

After reading all about the 95D in this topic and in others, it seems to be a pretty nice choice: same weight, a bit HLer( which benefits my 1HBH ), and some extra power for groundstrokes and serves. The only thing that I'm not yet convinced is the 16x20 stringbed, 18x20 is my favorite.

Also, how is Yonex QC treating you guys? I know it's pretty good, but have been away from the brand for the couple past years so I'm not sure if the current models are as good as the old ones in this department.

Can't wait to put my hands on them!

It's great, got my 97T from Cali and got one here in Taipei. Both were exactly the same. A friend uses one here too and his is .1 off on the static weight.

But if you haven't demoed the racquet first...well I hope it meets your expectations.

I really liked this racquet because it has great stability even on off center hits yet at the same time it is a very flexible arm-friendly racquet.

Just had a good experience today: hit with the lady's EZONE 100 and although it's very powerful for me( I'm coming from a IG Prestige MP customized ), I did like the feel of the racquet and could hit some pretty nice shots. I did enjoy the hitting session but could surely use more weight and more flexiness. Maneuverablity was excellent, but just couldn't dial my 1HBH in.

After that, borrowed a 98D from a friend knowing that the 95D is much more similar to it than to the EZONE. I could control my shots better and spin production was insane. Also enjoyed the feel, and maneuverability was in an acceptable level, especially for my 1HBH. Power was still a little more than desireable and a little more weight would be welcome. The 16x20 stringbed worked very well and I didn't have any problems with the handle shape.

Given all that, I'm feeling that the 95D will be a nice choice. The only downside is that I'll have to start the search for a new string setup once again, but at least that's supposed to be a funny thing with new frames in hand.

I play it stock at D1. Perfect. I usually prefer a leather grip on all my rackets but I actually have played extremely well with this stock grip so I'm leaving it there haha. I don't think I'll be switching rackets again anytime soon, if ever.
