Pretty nice video. Check out Andy high fiving employees at the facility.

Good for him for winning his 2nd Miami title.

Murray has won 3/4 north american masters events twice; 2X Miami Champ, 2X Cincy champ, 2X Canada champ, and 0 IWs.

Also, Murray is physically wrecked after the final. He was having difficulty posing for the camera because both his legs were cramped up and he was walking like Andre Agassi when he was at the beach.

Thought he was supposed to be tired during the match. Or was he just trying to mow another opponent to sleep?

I couldn't watch the match, dude. I heard it was extremely physical.

Murray definitely outplayed Gasquet in the SF match though. He ended with 36 winners and 25 UEs. It was solid stuff. Idk if he was pushing today.

I watched some of it, and up until CBS cut us off for some kids.

Andy Murray on:

Losing a point: "Oh god! I can't walk anymore! Someone shot me in the legs!"

Winning a point: "Fist pump time!"

Andy Murray on:

Losing a point: "Oh god! I can't walk anymore! Someone shot me in the legs!"

I think add to that the usual expletive-filled invective that forms the majority of his on-court vocabulary, like:

"Oh my f3$%g god! I can't walk anymore! $%&# Someone shot me in the ^$@!#@ legs!"

He has a new one recently:

Whenever he dumps his 1st serve into the net. He grabs his wrist like and let his arm hang like he dislocated a shoulder.

It's funny watching hobble around like that to all the press and media obligations. That match was painful for me, can't imagine what it was like to play it.

Apparently the conditions were brutal, we could see it was windy, but I imagine it was pretty humid too.

Ferrer seemed to be worse off at the end, he cramped up half way through the tie break. I think Murray and Ferrer are possibly the two fittest players on the tour, they can run all day. To have them both be exhausted after 3 sets says alot.

A 9th super lucky Murray Master's title.
That man is one lucky mother.
And of course he would also have been lucky if he'd converted one of those 4 match points against Djokovic to hold a 10th at the last Shanghai final.
Such a lucky player.

All players have been lucky on multiple occasions and unlucky on multiple occasions. It comes with the territory. However, you can't luck your way to 9 Masters titles.

Any player who thought they could have won in the final should have made sure they got to the final in the first place.

That's a nice video. You can tell players like Andy feel a bit silly doing all of the posing for cameras, but that's part of the charm of a behind the scenes video, as it captures some of the more relaxed, spontaneous moments. It's good to see he has a nice, relaxed relationship with the staff there too.

What sarcastic?!!
I'm not being sarcastic.
Murray is obviously the luckiest player on the planet.
Djokovic totally meant to blast that winner clean on the line facing two match points vs Federer in the USO'11 semi and also meant that skillful net chord versus Murray at the Rome'11 semi when Murray was serving for the match.
If that had been Murray it would have been total luck.
Sarcastic huh!!

Murray was not unlucky at all in any of those 5 slam finals he lost and wasn't tired, injured or had bad draws and scheduling.

In my opinion Murray has been luckier than guys like Haas/Safin/Guga/JMDP and others, not just on court but in terms of injuries etc Murray has been fortunate (except for an injury in 2007 when he was a non-threat anyway) . Now you can disagree with me all you want. You make it seem that I've said something really insulting and stupid when really it's hard to deny in theory.

You misunderstand, my Murray hating friend. Saying that those guys are unlucky with injury is fair enough. Saying they were unluckier with injury than Murray is also fair enough - but they were also unluckier than Federer, Djokovic, Roddick, and a hundred others I could name.

I just thought I'd point that out before you make the quantum leap from 'Murray is luckier than Tommy Hass with respect to injuries to 'QED Murray's accomplishments are more due to luck than others' - because we both know that that's where your logical incontinence was taking you.

Why have you singled Murray out as being lucky with injury in comparison to those guys rather than 101 others who are also lucky in comparison?

Incorrect; from 2008 onwards, especially in 2010 with the shoulder and the mono glandular fever, Roddick experienced a lot of problems with his cuff in 2008, and minor injuries in 2011. 2012 was basically his ghostly remains of a pusher with fitness problems.

Oh, and here's another fact, seeing as you love them so much; At no point in this thread, did I ever mention Murray's achievements were down to luck. I've stated Murray faced easy opponents and a sub-par Djokovic at the US Open (again, this isn't even open for debate because most people tend to agree Djokovic was pretty lame until the third) but I've never said Murray has won 'xyz' due to luck.

*I know you will post 'please stop presenting facts as opinions' in regards to the Murray v Djokovic match at the US Open. Oh, so that's how we win arguments, now - we say something preposterous, and then claim 'it's not even open to debate'?

Fine - Djokovic lucked his way to win his 1st slam against a choking Tsonga, then was the luckiest player of all time to win the others beating a senile Federer, an AWOL Murray, and a crippled Nadal. That's not even open to debate.

This is ridiculous, I'm not even a Murray fan but you are being absurd. Murray has easily been the most unlucky of the top 4 with regard to opponents in slam finals. Djokovic faced the unseeded newcomer (at the time) TSONGA when he won his first grand slam, Murray has faced Federer and Djokovic. The conditions were the same for both players in USO 2012 and Djokovic was carrying no injury and made it to the FINAL so obviously his form was not that bad. I watched him destroy Del Potro LIVE in the stadium in the quarterfinals and he was playing out his skin.

I never said there was a correlation between Murray's big titles won and luck - far from it. BTW, Djokovic was actually able to beat Federer in straights during his 2008 run at the AO. Murray can't even beat 2013 Federer in a slam in straight sets, Even before 2011 when Djokovic took off, his slam record over the elite players was more impressive/is still more impressive than Murray's record. Please, Murray was never unlucky in slams before his US Open win. He was always fully fit and never had any injury problems outside 2007. The US Open 2012 is open for debate, although it's my opinion Djokovic played average during the tournament, but I'm not arguing that.

If you actually cared to read between the lines, you'd know I was actually arguing that Murray has been fortunate compared to many other players. You can't give Murray the 'unlucky' card just for getting beat by great opponents. He's good enough to beat them, and hyped up enough to beat them. The only really unlucky moment was when they shut the roof at Wimbledon last year against Federer (although his slam record over Federer was poor anyway and would have more than likely lost regardless).

I think Murray's on court antics were an act to make people think he was suffering. The match was an hour shorter than the AO final. And the guy took 5 weeks off the get into peak physical shape for the US HC swing and the clay season. How is he so exhausted playing Ferrer in a match that was an hour shorter than the AO final?

2008 USO final was a beatdown from Federer (although Murray isn't usually allowed the excuse that he had had to play an exhausting 2 day 5 setter against Nadal just a day previously. If it had been the other way round, I have no doubt the Fed fans would never tire of pointing this out). At 2010 AO, Murray was still nervous but had breaks in the 3rd set and lost in a lengthy tie-break that went 13-19. So hardly the beat-down of 2008!

In the next Slam meeting (2012 Wimbledon final), Murray finally took a set off Federer and and in their most recent encounter, finally beat him. He has been consistently getting better and better against Federer in Slams and still owns the overall H2H against him.

So Djokovic is lucky he beat Federer at AO 2008 and Murray is unlucky he got crushed at US Open 2008, AO 2010 and lost in 4 at W12? meanwhile Djokovic has been beating Federer at slams in 2008, pushing him in 2009, beating Federer at US Opens in 2010/2011 etc.

I don't know. Some people think Federer was suffering from Mono at that time. I am not sure. But I'm willing to give Djokovic the benefit of the doubt that he would have beaten Federer anyway.

and Murray is unlucky he got crushed at US Open 2008, AO 2010 and lost in 4 at W12?

Well, people are often quick to point out how tired Federer was prior to the Olympic final and their recent semi at the AO due to long and exhausting matches he had to come through the round before and yet strangely don't want to allow Murray the same excuse when HE had to come through a long and exhausting 2 day semi-final against Nadal, the world #1, just a day before the 2008 USO final, his first ever Slam final. As I've already pointed out, the 2010 AO final was not quite the beatdown of 2008 but you just choose to ignore that as usual. And, given that Djokovic beat Federer in the semis of 2008 AO and then only had to face seedless and first time Slam finalist Tsonga in the final, I'd say he got a bit luckier than Murray who had to go on from the world #1 player to face the world #2 in his first Slam final.

meanwhile Djokovic has been beating Federer at slams in 2008, pushing him in 2009, beating Federer at US Opens in 2010/2011 etc.

Good for him. Murray has often spent the last few years trying to play catch-up with Djokovic. He seems to be getting there slowly but surely (although he may never completely catch up). What is certain, is that very little of it has been down to mere luck as you, and others on here who constantly try to disparage him, like to assert.

You're actually probably the best Murray fan when talking about Murray on this board. Batz and Fedex all though nice posters, do seem to be completely biased and can't accept any criticism of Murray.

With regards to your post; remember Djokovic really could have won their match at the US Open 2007/ Wasn't Djokovic 40-0 up serving for the first set? Can't really remember now but I know Federer won two matches in straight sets he could have easly lost, the other being to Roddick.

The AO 2010, all right, not a beatdown, but it was only close until the end and let's not forget many people in the world of tennis had Murray to wn that match. Did you? (I was banned at this point so I didn't really keep up to date with TW).

AO 2008 - well Djokovic did beat the guy who dismantled Nadal in the semi finals and if I'm not mistaken, took out Murray quite early on in that tournament. Djokovic's run in 2008 is at the least as impressive as Murray's US Open 2008 run. Murray froze in the final, Djokovic hung tough. Nadal at that point in tie was no hard court beast (still isn't really) and was certainly beatable on the hard courts. It was only a four setter with Nadal, it wasn't a marathon. JMDP did it, why couldn't Murray?

Thank you. I am a fan but I really only try to defend him against attacks and criticism that I think is unfair or unbalanced. In fairness to Batz and Fedex, they do pretty much the same although often with considerably more wit than I am capable of. You will rarely, if ever, find any of us starting threads with 'Murray is the Greatest This or That' as fanatical fans of other players often do. And all 3 of us have no problems acknowledging fair criticism of Murray (eg. his erratic serving, over-slow starts, all too frequent inability to close out matches at first opportunity, failure to win any clay titles etc.).

With regards to your post; remember Djokovic really could have won their match at the US Open 2007/ Wasn't Djokovic 40-0 up serving for the first set? Can't really remember now but I know Federer won two matches in straight sets he could have easly lost, the other being to Roddick.

I know that the 2007 USO final went to 3 tight sets with 2 of them breakers.
Djokovic was in his first Slam final and I always think allowance for nerves and lack of experience should be given to any player in that position especially when they are facing the world #1 player and veteran Slam-winner. He learned valuable lessons from that experience and went on to win his first Slam just 4 months later at the AO.

The AO 2010, all right, not a beatdown, but it was only close until the end and let's not forget many people in the world of tennis had Murray to wn that match. Did you? (I was banned at this point so I didn't really keep up to date with TW).

The 2010 AO final was closer than a lot of people on here seem to think.Only one break decided the first 2 sets and, as I say, the 3rd was a lot tighter with many breaks of serve, especially from Murray, and a marathon tie-break which Murray could have won (he had several set points). I did think Murray had a good chance because he had been winning a lot of his recent matches with Federer at that point although that was their first Slam encounter since 2008 USO. He just got tight again and Federer, as we know, is always a fiercesome opponent in a Slam final, especially on grass and hardcourt.

AO 2008 - well Djokovic did beat the guy who dismantled Nadal in the semi finals and if I'm not mistaken, took out Murray quite early on in that tournament.

True. Murray lost to Tsonga in the 1st round in a tight 4 setter with the last set going to another close tie-break which Tsonga won 7-5. Interestingly, Murray inflicted a bagel on Tsonga in the 3rd set but couldn't sustain that kind of momentum against him.

Djokovic's run in 2008 is at the least as impressive as Murray's US Open 2008 run. Murray froze in the final, Djokovic hung tough.

Agreed.

Nadal at that point in tie was no hard court beast (still isn't really) and was certainly beatable on the hard courts. It was only a four setter with Nadal, it wasn't a marathon.

Nadal was world #1 at 2008 USO and had just won RG and Wimbledon back-to-back. Hardcourt may not have been his best surface but that didn't mean he was a slouch on it either even back in 2008. That year, he was a finalist in Miami and had won the Canada Masters and the Olympic title, all on hardcourt. The semi-final with Murray had to be played over 2 days because of one of New York's infamous hurricanes (they didn't just start blowing at the 2012 edition) and so it turned into a bit of a marathon on that basis alone.

JMDP did it, why couldn't Murray?

Indeed, he did and all kudos to him for that. IMO, Del Potro's Slam win was more impressive than the first time efforts of any of the other current Slam winners because he had to beat the world's top 2 players back-to-back, something none of the other Slam winners had to do in order to win their maiden Slam titles.

Honestly Anaconda there's no winning with you. A few posts ago I just had a rant about how I hate the Wimbledon roof excuse for Murray and then you say I'm biased.
I'll speak out against absolute obvious trash talk about Murray such as he is lucky, he isn't as good as, and won't achieve as much as, the all time greats such as Federer and Nadal as if it's become an issue, (imaginary only in the hater's paranoid, frightened minds), he's a talentless pusher and so on.
And I can assure you that Batz, although he sometimes responds to equally deserving perceptions with rottweiler like ferocity, is very unbiased and objective and, similar to Mainad, backs it all up with detailed hard facts.
