Will Dimitrov prove that the single handed backhand is still useful in today's game? Will he show that he can be a future #1 by making on of the biggest upsets ever? Will baby Fed avenge his father? Or will Nadal crush him like he does with pretty much everyone on clay?

I think Grigor is due and will pull off the upset. I have not been impressed with the way Nadal has been playing at all.

It's not the popular opinion but I have faith...
lol just realized I said that, while having a Faith avatar

Can anyone tell me when (US eastern time) this will be played during? I'll be likely at work, but will still be following discussion on the forums.

My apologies to Grigor, just saw him say that he doesn't want to be compared to Federer anymore, which I can understand. It's not easy being compared to the GOAT at 21 when you haven't really won anything yet.

Dimitrov is due for a win over a top 4 player but it won't be here. This tournament is Nadal completely in his element, and it will take someone much better than Dimitrov to stop him.

I am about to vote....gonna go for Dimi in 3.

Man I feel so bad for doing this but I had to go with Nadal in 2.

I don't have much faith in our man tomorrow. :(

Ah well, at least he can go forward from here on.

PS: People need to stop calling him baby Fed. Grigor has said himself (in Bulgarian interviews) that he doesn't like being called a clone. He has his own style.

lol I have a horrible track record of guessing right on polls, like every year who's winning the French, you can guess who I vote for regardless of who the favorite is...I just go with what "I want to happen"

Hopefully Dimitrov's time will come, but i don't see it being here.I will just be pleased if he manages to give Nadal a match. I might watch this one.

Now there's a surprise. I really want to see Nadal play Rosol again so I can see you predict a Nadal win. Erm don't you go on all the time about how over rated Dimitrov is?

Unless he can hit as hard as Rosol/Soderling consistently (which he can't especially off the backhand side) I don't see how he can threaten Nadal.

RELAX, Clarky. :)

Nadal will most likely win in straights, but the cool thing is that it's obvious Dimitrov has a (small) chance. Not many Nadal matches on clay where you can say the other guy has any real chance at all.

Dimitrov won't trouble Nadal at all, Nadal will win easily, something like 6-3,6-2.

When Nadal is playing well I would not worry one bit about Grigor. The problem is Nadal is playing like crap so any decent player has a shot at him playing the way he is.

And when I said Grigor was overrated, I meant that the people predicting him to win multiple slams and reach #1 are stretching it to the limit. That doesn't mean he can't cause an upset if he plays well because he can.

I also do not "go on all the time" about how overrated Grigor is. I think you have total recall of all things imaginary.

Barring accident or injury he will definitely win multiple slams and reach #1. It's bloody obvious.

Has Rafa ever played well? If so, when

Yes he has but he has not played well in MC. Or do you believe his match today was him playing well?

You're a trip lol, everyone that saw it besides you thinks he was. From tennis.com...

"Kohlschreiber produced some soaring moments, but couldn’t match Nadal’s sustained elevation. Nadal broke twice in the opening set and won 20 of 23 points played on his serve in the second to cruise to his 44th consecutive Monte Carlo victory, a tidy, 6-2, 6-4 decision that spanned 80 minutes.

Kohlschreiber can use his bold one-handed backhand and topspin forehand to create angles, but matching the weight of Nadal’s shots was like trying to mute a scream with a murmur. The third-seeded Spaniard did not face a break point in the match and grew stronger on serve, winning three of his final five service games at love."

 What a **** poor match.

can't watch... but i will...

going to be ugly...

i hope mentally, grigor is prepared. has a nice girl he can relax with later, sooth his wounds, not judge him... etc...

will be a beat-down and rafa will want to make a point of it.

So you think Rafa wants to make a statement? He is going to play like IW was just a precursor to things to come.

I don't care what they said. He was making a lot of forehand errors some of them horrible. How about you actually watch the match for yourself and then try to tell me he was playing well. The only thing that was half way decent today was his serve, even though his first serve percentage wasn't great.

Clarky are you still going on about this nonsense? Who cares if Nadal plays well or not, the goal is to win the match and he has been doing that. Give it a rest!
He is going to win this tournament.

Please people, it will very likely be Nadal in straights. Dimitrov has as close to no chance of winning this match as possible.

I wouldn't say that. Grigor has been playing better lately so I think he definitely has a good chance. Especially with that way Nadal is playing.

It doesn't matter, Nadal can play at 20% and still beat everyone apart from Djokovic and maybe Federer. In the last 2 years of playing like a mug, how many players has he lost to on red clay? And Zeb was playing a Nadal who had taken 7 months off, which isn't the case now.

No doubt. If Rafa didn't stand a chance at IW, then it's hard to say he isn't the foregone choice at MC.

Nadal in two sets. I think that Nadal will look to be as efficient as possible over the clay court season, looking to avoid dropping sets. This should be a fun match to watch.

Dimitrov is no Federer and will never become like Federer. There is nothing in his arsenal that youngerer didn't do a million times better.

if dimitrov wins its hardly going to be one of the biggest upsets ever..grigor is ranked 34, losing to rosol ranked at 100 was though.

In the whole planet, you would be the ONLY person who thinks that.

I can bet even my house that Nadal will win today. I am also ready to quit my job if Nadal doesn't win today.

Please let us get real, a 20 something guy is gonna beat Nadal at MC that not even Federer, Djokovic could do..
