I imagine testing like this goes on quite a bit. I can remember Roman Prokes saying at a conference I once attended that Agassi used to try out every major rivals racquet because he wanted to know what he felt so that he knew how to hurt him on court. Verdasco is obviously not doing this but looking for a new frame himself. I think he should go home to Tecni, his best results were with them and he was definitely comfortable, even if he has to takes pay cut... Back yourself in and get the results.

Didn't he try switching to a Yonex a few years back? I think he played a couple of tournaments with the RDiS 200, then went back to his old frames.

Yeah, here we go, back in 2010:
I watched him playing good with rdis200, and win some tournament.
Maybe $$ matter put him away from it.

Who was hitting with verdasco in that pic?
Probably Nadal??? They practiced together at French open and there is a pic of nadal holding a verdasco's racket. Possibly verdasco was just hitting with some of nadal's or his team's babolat racket to feel.
Yep. It was funny that verdasco won tournament with Yonex then switches to dunlop. After he went dunlop, his name is almost forgotten.
Can't blame that pros follow $$$ instead of right equipment.
I think I saw verdasco practiced with head rackets a few week or months ago....

True, a test without his own string is worth nothing. You think it's possible he just borrowed a frame from Nadal and let the RG string team string it with a BB orignal?

Doubtful. I was only speculating. I would be more inclined to believe that he tried one that was modified to the specs of his current racket to do a direct comparison.

Yes I would think so as well, Nadals' frame is tweaked to his demands and this probably won't suit Verdasco.
So I guess he did acquire a frame from Babolat for testing then. Maybe he's already done with Dunlop? I think it's strange that almost only Spanish players use them btw.

His last switch from Tecnifibre to Dunlop was a disaster. Took him a very long time to get the dunlop right. Even after that I never thought he was the same. He should have never switched in the first place. Some players seem more sensitive to their sticks and strings and he seems to be one of them. Other than the sponsorship paycheck, I can't see this going well for his game.

I'm watching Verdasco play Lopez on Tennis Channel right now and Verdasco is definitely using a Babolat. Looks like it might be an APD through all the fog, but what do I know about Babolat racquets?

Hey, I'm watching Verdasco play Benneteau right this second and while it's on serve early in the first, Fernando is definitely striking the ball very well with the APD. I've always thought that particular racquet would serve him well (no pun), my question obviously is what exactly is he playing with? I couldn't imagine he would run with Cortex and he's no doubt had it weighted. Anybody know anything? I know there are people on here capable of pulling some magic out of the spec bag and any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes and he just hit a 97 mph forehand with 3700 rpm (info from hawk eye) in the tie break against Benneteau. He won the tie break 7-1, so I think this stick suits him.

He played some seriously impressive tennis today. It was not the easiest match for him and those first two breakers were key, he controlled them and kept the pressure on Benneteau all the way. The APD fits his game perfectly, I think I would be right in saying he has moved up a few square inches in headsize too in making the transition to that stick? If he can keep this level up (and that is of course dependent on his mental standpoint) he will not be easy to beat. Look for him to face Murray in the Quarters if he makes it. That could be a blinder a la Australian Open 2009.

I dont know why he didn't switch to this racquet sooner. He hits a similar ball to nadal with slightly less topspin and hits a nasty kick serve. This is a good match for him. However, he needs to get rid of that awful haircut lol
