Djokovic is still the 1st favorite to win Wimbledon according to bookmakers

So Djokovic defeats Nadal one time at W and all of a sudden he is the superior grass court player? Their records on grass speak for themselves, no need to get angry about it, it is what it is. And nobody is comparing Djokovic's form right now to the badly declining Federer's form, but it cannot be denied that Djokovic has not shown the same brilliant form he did in 2011 and early 2012. Both he and Nadal have the same number of slams so far this year and I don't get the impression that Nadal is going to back down in his fight against Djokovic.

Did you actually watch the last non-clay slam they played at the AO 2012? That match could have gone either way. That is why I am saying I personally do not see that Djokovic is going to dominate Nadal in all off clay slams the way he did in 2011. I would honestly be shocked if that happens. I think they will split some wins moving forward and then you may have Murray in there too if he can regain some form.

I'm not the least bit angry, dunno where yo got that. "That match could have gone either way." is applicable in other areas, too: if Nole doesn't get cheated on a crucial break point where the hapless porker umpiring the match gets the call wrong, or he doesn't lose a crucial point while up a break in the 5th because of hitting the net-a call I've not seen 10 times in all the time I've watched tennis-would you still talking about Nole not dominating BP off dirt(and, again, it WAS on dirt)? And, sorry, I don't think BP's one win edge in Wimbledon titles-far more distant than Nole's, btw-denotes any edge for him, particularly when he loses to the likes of Rosol, a subject I see you are avoiding as if it's radioactive.

2010 is ancient history - dinosaurs roamed the earth - 2011 is not.

Since AO 2012, Djoker is 1-4 vs. Nadal. Basically, 2011 is the only thing you have to hang your hat on.

They haven't PLAYED five times since AO 2012, so, so much for THAT argument, and trying to sweep 7 straight losses under the rug as a minor impediment is also clueless.

Yes they have, albeit all on clay.

Forgot the 3rd one in 2012, but, you answered your own "question:" all on dirt, ignoring 8 wins on 3 surfaces and fastening in on 5 on dirt isn't exactly dripping in logic-especially when we are, thankfully, DONE with dirt for the year. Why do all the NNN ignore that Rosol result, btw?

Dafinch, have you seen the stats of the Nadal/Djokovic FO SF? Nadal was outplaying Djokovic for most of the match, look at the UE/winner ratio, where Nadal had a lot more winners to UE's than Djokovic did. Don't be a sore-loser and use the bad calls as an excuse. The bottom line is Djokovic could not handle the pressure as well as Nadal in that match and as a result Djokovic lost. Deal with it.

I think the fact that Nadal is a much better grass court player overall than Djokovic is is significant. For me grass is Djokovic's worst surface and Nadal is second to Federer on grass in this generation.

Re the Rosol thing, are you serious? That was a one-off incident, let's get real. I will be shocked if Nadal loses early at W this year.

If Nole had won, despite your avalanche of stats, I would say to YOU, don't be a sore loser, if you win all your games at love and I win all mine after 3 deuces, the stats will favor you, but if you lose 3 tiebreakers, that doesn't really matter, now, does it? But I contend that getting broken on a clearly bad call is significant, and if you have to depend on winning a crucial point on touching the net, that is extremely unusual. You say you'll be surprised repeatedly, and I'm sure you WILL be. As for Rosol, that's YOUR opinion, nothing more, personally, I think the exact same thing would happen, Rosol won't take any of BP's crap, and not being intimidated is a big step towards beating him. You have no way of knowing what would happen in a rematch, so stop pretending as if you do. We DO know what DID happen, which was, BP got his *** kicked.

All five of those recent meetings have been on clay. Just as he once did with Federer, Nadal is getting to clay finals but disappearing when other tournaments come around.

Until he beats Djokovic on grass/hard, he can't really claim to have healed the scars of 2011 and early 2012.

I would not be a sore loser, I am not an irrational fan. Nadal choked in the AO 2012 against Djokovic and Djokovic handled the pressure better but at the FO SF Nadal handled the pressure better and outplayed Djokovic in the fifth set.

Re Rosol, it is sad that you have to depend on one irrelevant guy to place your faith in to beat Nadal. If you think he would beat him again in a rematch on the big stages for me it is wishful thinking. I don't think we will see it again, so it really is a moot point. The only players who can stop Nadal at W may be Djokovic or perhaps Murray (but I doubt it with Murray given their past h2h.) For me Nadal and Murray both have better chances to win the W title than Djokovic does but that can change based on the draw.
We will soon find out what will happen in the continuing Djokovic/Nadal saga.

Prepare for the semi-final of the ages, if Nadal is drawn in the same half as Djokovic this year!

Without the edge of his home surface, Nadal will be handicapped. But Djokovic will also be handicapped by his recent loss to Nadal.

Well, trying to pretend that winning 9-7 in the 5th on dirt-which gave BP a whopping 4-3 edge in their last 7 dirt encounters-is gonna negate all the mental baggage that BP carried after those 7 straight losses, and the attempt to pretend that the fact that BP, in 2 of his last 3 matches at Wimbledon, BP suffered bad losses, means nothing-well, that sounds VERY irrational to me, so, on THAT point, we are gonna have to agree to disagree. Btw, ask the USSR 1980 Olympic Hockey Team, Mike Tyson, and Juicetine Henin how "irrelevant" the 1980 USA Olympic Hockey team, Buster Douglas, and Bartoli, respectively, are. You can ignore it all you like, it ain't going away...

Talk about selective stats! What is it in the last 3 MOST RECENT off dirt Slam meetings?

Yes, I know this but that does not mean it will continue on that way. It does not look like a McEnroe/Lendl situation where McEnroe was too unmotivated or burnt out to continue to beat Lendl at the slams after 1984. Nadal does not look unmotivated or burnt out to me and their rivalry has always been a tight one.

I have to ask, why do you care so much? Why can't they split some slam wins?

Don't quit your day job, your forays into online Head Shrinker are not impressive. Besides, methinks you doth protest too much in saying you don't live, breath and sleep on what BP does. Not true. I am a Federer fan who tries to look at things in a balanced way and to me it is not so clear cut who will win all of their off clay slam meetings in the future. It could go either way. Are you prepared to deal with it if it does not go exactly your way? Doesn't seem like it.

Come on, don't try and insult even semi-intelligent posters on here by trying to claim you don't irrationally hate Nadal. Just admit it, it is more than obvious. Magnus is a huge Nadal hater for example and he admits it, why can't you?

What I don't understand is why do you care so much about a player you claim to dislike so much? I don't like Berdych and I don't follow anything he does except when I happen to see something written about him in the media or on a tennis site. I would not care if he quit tomorrow. I don't watch or follow players I dislike so much, what they do or do not do is irrelevant to me.

No, it's not. If you can't understand that, it's not my concern. Hating a tennis player I don't know is utterly ridiculous. About the only person I can say that I hated who was alive during my lifetime is Bin Laden. If I had been alive while Hitler was, I'd throw him on there, too.

I would put Murray as number 2 and Djokovic as number 3 based on natural grass court abilities but the only question will be Murray's form.

I understand that. I've got Nadal at #1. I say, if he comes out on fire in the first week, watch out Djokovic and anyone else. I just see Djokovic as a bigger threat to Nadal at Wimbledon and elsewhere right now compared to Murray. Murray has definitely stepped up his play at the majors, but with his recent injury, his form is a slight question mark for me. Anyway you slice it, I do think the top three favorites are very close. If we see Federer come out red hot in week one, he may have a shot as well again this year, but for now I do see him at #4. It seems strange but that's my opinion.

That is the bottom line and then whether Federer can play great tennis for two weeks is the question mark.

Also a good point! Federer does do that a lot doesn't he? Yet, at Wimbledon, especially if we see the roof closed, I think he may be more likely to maintain that form into the second week and against the top guys.

Let's put it this way: after the FO, I believe any psychological advantage Djoker may have had is gone. The psychological advantage might now be Nadal's. To put it simply: it's no longer 2011. Could Djoker beat Nadal? Sure, he could. Might Nadal beat Djoker? He might. I suppose we'll see. That said, with the way he's been playing this year, it feels like Nadal is the favorite.

When people start talking about random intangibles like mental strength and psychological advantage, there's literally NO discussion to be had.

How can you measure something like this? You can't but you can make assumptions.

Wasn't the AO 2012 supposed to be the nail in the coffin for Hafa? Wasn't he supposed to be permanently scarred after losing in a 6 hour battle?

Doesn't look like he's been affected at all. He pulled tight shots in that semi last Friday.

Don't worry, he's gonna bust him up soon enough. There's less and less things for people to grab onto to put Rafa down. You better start nailing things to the walls and hoping they stick when he demolishes your house.

I'm not confident, just logical. Djoker is not at 2011 level and got beaten by Delpo and Haas in his last HC matches. Nadal is more than capable of beating him off clay, and it's silly to think that he never will again. Will Djokovic win the majority of them? Maybe..... probably... maybe not. Nothing is set in stone.

I wouldn't say he barely won. The stats tell a different story. He really should have won in 4 sets. Granted he didn't, he still outplayed Novak for most of the match.
