First it was Murray and how terrible he was and how he would never win a slam. Then it was how the Olympic Gold was rubbish. Then it was how he would never win a 2nd slam.

Then it was the end of Nadal when he got beaten by Rosol, how he would never be back and never win anything again because of his knee.

Now its multiple negative threads about Federer.

Maybe he'll won't win an 18th. Maybe he will. Isn't it more interesting to wait and see? People were writing off Sampras before his final USO.

Way too much negativity and trolling from certani posters on this forum.

It's really a plague, people need to hate the rivals of their favorite. I can't understand it. I was thinking yesterday at who are the players I dislike and couldn't really find any, apart Gasquet, and I don't even really dislike him.

People are as well extremely aggressive. It's impossible to discuss normally with Monfed or the order. Give an argument they disagree with, they will jump at your throat, use explanation marks everywhere, and congratulate themselves for how clever they are.

Sorry but I found your posts and hater comments extremely aggressive and negative. Why did you behave like that? Did you congratulate yourself how clever you were?

Unfortunately, far too many people on here seem to think that in order to support the player of their choice then they must denigrate, ridicule and put down anybody else who may be a possible rival!

Nadal gets it in the neck from Fed fans, Nadal fans reply in kind by sneering at Fed's poor record against their man, Djokovic gets it in the neck from both Fed and Nadal fans for intruding into their patch, Murray gets it in the neck particularly from Fed fans (how dare he presume to have a positive H2H against him) and also from Djokovic fans for daring to challenge their man!

But it's my impression that Nadal and Murray are, by far, the most abused and disrespected players on here. The number of constantly negative threads posted about them by 'fans' of rival players is truly staggering and eye-opening!

People who hate and try to denigrate other players just because they can't handle them beating their idols are simply immature and too emotionally unstable to engage in rational conversation. Having wasted too much time on here trying to reason with them, I speak from bitter experience!

Hewitt and Roddick are the players who are the most disrespected. Most attacks against Nadal, Murray, Djokovic or Federer are trolling, provocation to fight infinite boredom. Any fan of one of these four would praise the other three as soon as we compare them with any other era. Federer becomes a great clay courter as soon as we compare the level of clay competition with other era. Nadal becomes a great grass courter as soon as we compare Fed with Sampras. In a few years, people will praise how Murray was stronger challenger for the top guys than Becker.
But Roddick and Hewitt, it's painful how much they are despised. Old timer despise them because they want to claim that his era was weak. New timer despise them because the want to claim that his era was weak. They are the two most despised players on this board, by far.

I doubt it really matters who the player is, it's just that these guys are the same as that kid in every school who whacks the head of the kid in front of them with a ruler, every time the teacher's back is turned.

Ignore them and they'll up the ante for a while but eventually get bored, tell them to bog off and the mod/teacher will tell the victim off, and the culprit gets so excited with themselves that this happens:

9N9gW.gif

And the same tedious exercise keeps going and going and going and going...

Federer fans get it from Nadal "fans," Nadal fans get it from Federer "fans," Djokovic gets it from Nadal and Federer "fans," and Murray gets it from "fans" of everyone else.

How do you know Djokovic gets the worst treatment?
Have you done a statistical survey?
The hate stands out for you because you are a keen follower and defender of anything Djokovic.
Try being a Murray supporter over the years then you'll know all about it.
Of course as he accumulates slams the hate will subside as the bandwagoners start to hop on with egg on their faces just the way they've done for Djokovic.

We'll see how civilised you are when Murray is 6-8 slams or even 10 slams(if JMac is proven right). Right now he's not part of any GOAT debate so it's easy to be his fan as the comparisons haven't even started. Just like when Fed won his first 2-3 slams.(though unlike Murray, Fed became #1,still wasn't hated as much as he is now.)

BTW you're wrong about Fed being less hated than Ralph and Murray. He gets scorn from the nadal,Sampras, sometimes Murray fans and dinosaur era players too(Rosewall,Laver),something Ralph doesn't get at all. So basically Fed is hated by multiple fanbases, Ralph gets scorn only from one as is the case with Murray. But yes Fed fans outnumber your rather meagre population and rightly so, the best player ever with the most beautiful game ever(an added bonus) has the most fans makes perfect sense.

If you do statistical analysis I am sure you will see that Djokovic is the most abused.

Anyway, even if I am wrong and he isn't, he is still abused at least as much as some of the other in top 4, so my question to the OP is still valid. Why did he so obviously skipped Djokovic in his post? Why?

It's the whole internet thing, I think it should be taken down.

BTW - people are not really putting the 'players' down. They are putting the 'fans of said players' down, thereby riling up fanboys/girls who live vicariously through their idols. This leads to tit-for-tat babble as you know.

I don't believe you think that players read TW forums or do you?

As I've said to you previously, when nole has a thread devoted solely to laughing at him when he loses that goes back several years - then we can talk. When nole attracts posters to the site who only ever post troll comments about him (baws, buckethead, passive aggresive et al )then we can talk. When there are murray fans with signatures saying "I hate novak djokovic deal with it" then we can talk.

I saw similar to these and worse directed towards Djokovic. Just look at what that sad Clarky21 poster and his/hers/its army of hating trolls do all over the place.

Anyway, to repeat once more my question. The OP mentioned Murray (and Nadal and Federer) but skipped Djokovic, why? Would you or someone else care to explain. Why he omitted Djokovic?

I see your point but let's not forget the amount of scorn Novak gets esp from a certain poster who shall remain anonymous calling Djokovic names in almost every thread he's brought up in. That is in some ways worse than Murray as there are threads to specifically to put him down which you can just skip.

I honestly it at all. The amount of hate is uncalled for and childish. It makes me never want to use these boards, which is a shame because there is also some great insight here. The top 4 are 4 of the greatest to ever play the game and I am just happy to be able to watch them play each other. All four are admirable guys an I just don't get the hate. Don't get it at all.

Chico: "statistical analysis?!" LMAO!..what fanboy or fanboy activity is worth "statistical analysis?" Why, fanboys are to be mocked at every opportunity, plain & simple. This is what they were put on earth for. (wink!)

As for "most abused Pro" that really is relative, meaning you'd have to be referring to a specific time period since 'rivals' come and go. Historically, it began with the Fed fanboys directing their hate towards Roddick and later then when Fed was approaching Sampras' GS record, they then directed it towards Sampras. You even see it here today on occassion with these repeatedly....repeatedly posted "Who's better, Roger or Sampras?" threads which are really just invitations to join in a Fedfanboy circle jerk of sorts with them all taking turns bashing/ridiculing Sampras. They're like those miserable lil' emo boys who sit around backbiting about "other" emo bands that they don't like. Yes, there were loony Petetards as well but they were not as "emo-boy" crazed overall as the fedfanboys. Then the Rafa Topspin Monkey brigade followed and from there on, each pro's had their fanboy pillowbitters.

Well you know saying what people wanna hear rather than how things are to appear "fair" or "balanced". Guys like Steve0904, Flash o groove, Towser,pc1 to name a few. Not saying they're wrong but they lose credibility when they point fingers at more forthright guys who don't care about what others think of them. Neither type is "good" or "bad", some people prefer guys who like to call a spade a spade(in that regard I don't mind reading your posts even if they're scornful towards Fed most of the time.) some people prefer it sugarcoated.

And really the "X fanbase is worse than Y" is a matter of one's perception. For me this forum really goes in the pits when Ralph wins a slam/M1000(Fed hate threads are all over the board, Ralph is GOAT, Ralph H2H with Fed etc pop up) and when Fed loses(retirement threads, Fed is a weak era clown,Fed can't be GOAT anymore etc). When Ralph loses I dont see a lot of threads popping up but yea there are the obligatory troll posts.

Anyway, I think we should just stick to the tennis.

Quoted for truth. The telling part of it all is if the Federer Fringe was as sure as they claim about RF's records, they would not need to attack older players/eras. They say Sampras has been surpassed in almost every checkbox by Federer, so why attack Sampras at all?

The truth is in their need to attack.

I was just wondering the same. The General Pro Player Discussion forum is becoming a kind of cesspool. Who can insult whose favorite player(s) the coyest? Too many people all at once want to be "The Town Wit;" but too few of them really have the mental firepower needed to pull off this role effectively, in my view. What results from these wannabes is so called dialog that sprints headlong towards trying to shock others into paying one attention for the sake of seeing how long they will let him play the antagonist before they finally tune him out. Moderators could well censor one's tone as well as his content, but doing so would likely depress traffic numbers, I imagine, because part of what drives some one to post in forums like this is the anonymity factor which enables him to get away with saying what he probably wouldn't say around his parents nor to a stranger with whom he were in public and standing face to face. We could argue for there being some therapeutic value in letting folks pretend to be someone online which they are not in real life, and from a business standpoint it does not make sense to weed out those posters whose purpose around here, they seem to believe, is to goad other posters--by attacking their cherished symbols--into "examining their own values," which needling, by the way, has always been an effective way of inciting highly emotional responses in others, and that may be somehow related to the in-group versus out-group, or religious, rhetoric behind real wars, not just flame wars...though it's the same principle. When people are suddenly aroused emotionally, they tend to linger near or revisit what it was or who it was caused them to feel so, as opposed to quitting that thing and seeking out solitude. I think this concept may be a cousin to that known as the Stockholm syndrome. Either way, people tend to buy from TW more often when they're already at the website, reading through its forums...

Lol are you for real? There were 10, 11 single line threads in the first hour or so after the match with the first post being "LOL", and four within the first 30 minutes after the match. Some never got deleted.

When Federer lost, I counted four the whole day. They all go deleted. Hell, even zagor noted that the abuse Federer got at Wimbledon was far less than what Nadal got, and that it was a good thing to see.

So what's this about Nadal not getting enough flak?

I couldn't help but defend Murray with all the hatred during Wimbledon...because I felt it was the right thing to do as xenophobia creeped in. People calling Hewitt a racist bugged me also as I've met him and he's a standup bloke, who's proud to be an Aussie which is fair enough when it's not jingoistic right?

I like Federer, Djokovic and Nadal but even insinuating they've doped or tanked is slanderous without concrete proof. This issue revolves around these 4 players mainly on this site.

Agreed.

The notion of Federer getting as much criticism as Nadal is the height of BS from the usual suspects. You are correct--even as it was clear Nadal was losing the Wimbledon match, the usual suspects (Federer fans above all else) attacked, laughing at his result, laughing at his knee issues, predicting he would never win another major, mocking his personal habits--you name it, and the usual suspects were behind it. Not just the day of the loss, but up to this day about all things Nadal--most incredibly negative.

There's an easy answer. Those who cannot do teach. Those who cannot teach teach gym. Those who cannot teach gym become internet trolls and use words such as, "owned", "pwned", "weakling", "crybaby", and so on about players they would wet themselves over if they ever got a chance to catch their sweaty towel after a real professional match. I would imagine it's a way of shoring up some massive feelings of inadequacy in themselves.

We're all tough guys on the internet.
