fwiw, the feeling of capped rad is not for everyone. I much preferred the feel of lead for customization. surprised by how stiff the grommet feel compared with lead feel.also it is useless adding weight to the lower hoop. the latest head graphene racquets even tries to reduce weight in the throat and lower hoop

Bud do you know the number of that dremal bit? I'm getting ready to cap 4 MicroGel Radicals and am getting all the pieces in place and I don't appear to have a bit like that

Thanks in advance

To join this request, as I'm about to cap for the first time as well (2 LM Rads, 1 MG Rad): Is it really the dremel bit shown in the pic? I looked for it on the web and it says diametre 3.2 mm (sorry, I'm from Europe and I don't know how this translates into in...). I think the tie-off holes in the Prestige / MG Rad frame are bigger, more like 4.0 mm. So if I center the dremel bit, I won't gain much, or will I?
- Again sorry, this time for asking a question that may sound stupid to some, but I am also what another poster in this thread wrote: Mechanically challenged... Will be the first time I *try* to perform such an operation :)
So thanks for any help!

So I got myself a Dremel and did as recommended - worked perfectly well. At first I had some doubts I could perform this operation myself, but it really was easy. Now all the grommets do snap right into place, sometimes with the guidance from an awl, and I didn't even have to heat them because there was no need stretching any part when going from hole to hole.
However, I am not sure if my final result is actually acceptable, as the grommets don't come out fully in the throat area. My question therefore is: Does stringing the racket take care of this by pulling the grommets tighter to the racket, or should I take them out and install them again?
Here are some pictures of "the situation" right now:

I started installing the grommets at the top and then went down each shoulder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I really would like to have them strung as soon as possible.

Oh, and for gear enthusiasts: Right now the weight of both rackets is 313 g, in addition to the CAP grommets, they both feature a Gamma leather grip and a Völkl V-Tac overgrip. In comparison to my MG Prestige MPs, the weight difference is 20 g (unstrung Prestige has Head Leather Tour and Gripsy Classic overgrip).

Has anyone actually tried to cap a Wilson rok? I know the prestige mid is 89, but when I bought my rok I held them together and I could swear they looked exactly the same headwise, the same shape. I didn't pay attention to the drilling pattern, though, and it might have been just a wrong impression, but can anybody confirm this? I know by experience the rok has pallets and head ones WILL fit just right, so I'm wondering if they would also accept cap grommets somehow.

I want to cap my pt280 and I have a few questions:
1) how much do standard pt280 grommets weight?
2) LM Prestige MP cap weights 33g. MG and IG about 28. Is this correct?
3) Has anybody capped a pt280 with IG cap? Any pics?

I need to cap a Flexpoint Prestige MP but I cant find the cap here in South America.
In a local shop, I was told that the red (graphene) cap does not fit.
Does anybody know if Microgel or Youtek/Youtek ig could fit in my flexpoint???

Older post, but let me add:
- yes, the IG CAPs would fit
- MG CAPs add 10g over the PT280 non-cap grommets

The red will fit, it's just at those flexpoint holes you would need to cut it to look neat.

They showed me that the red cap did not fit because of the distance between the holes (i mean the many tiny holes in which you insert the cap)

they told me to cut the cap in many small pieces but i dont want to buy it and do that
You don't cut CAP grommets to fit Flexpoint Prestuge Midplus. The Microgel prestige mp and youtek fit perfectly. I have put those on my Flexpoint prestige mp.

The 18x20 red cap grommets will fit also. Same exact drill pattern.

How many grams will increase the weight of my Radical Liquidmetal MP if i change the standard for a cap grommet Microgel Prestige MP? considering an overgrip is 5/6 gr., the balance will be similar to play without overgrip? Does the Swing weight increase very much?

It'll add about 10g total weight so with 1 OG will shift the balance slightly towards the head. Also expect a large bump in swingweight. I just CAP'ed an old I.radical MP that I found in a yard sale, and with no lead the SW is up from ~300 to 329.

You ordered MID grommets for a MP? That's your problem right there.

Should get Liquidmetal Prestige MP grommets (Microgel also works).

How do the LM Prestige Mid+ tk57 caps fit on an i.Radical mp ? I have them on my pt630 / 280's and the fit is beautiful, looking to cap an I.radical now...

I did this exact thing a few months ago, and the answer is not great. I had no problems in the throat of the racquet or on the shoulders, but the last 4-5 grommet barrels just seemed way too large to fit through the frame. I ended up stringing the racquet with 3 grommets not protruding from the frame at all - but it worked okay since they were the top 3 and the string passes straight through rather than diagonally where it risks getting cut by contacting the frame.

To improve the fit you could try heating the grommet barrels and squishing them, or reaming out the holes in the frame, both of which are pretty annoying options though.

It's with the stringers, from what I have researched it seems to be an ok fit, some even say perfect.. I shall see what the stringers say.. If not I will search for some other full length caps...

What would be the coolest if we could get a mid head cap 18x20 grommets in the new flouro red like the new prestige ! I have a ton of blacked out head team and club pros I would love to do that with:)

I am thinking of capping an IG Youtek Radical MP. I searched through this thread but still have a couple of questions.

1. I believe that the clear IG Prestige MP cap will fit. Will the black Youtek Prestige MP cap fit?

2. How much weight will the cap grommet add compared to the stock IG Radical MP grommet?

Thanks in advance.
Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you had any idea if you could put the Youtek prestige MP grommets on the new Head Youtek IG Radical MP. I think you might be able to but i realize that the prestige has a 21mm beam width and the new radical has a beam width of 22mm. Any of you guys know if this would work and i could get them capped? Any info is appreciated. Best regards.

HY

Did either of you have luck capping an IG Radical MP? I just picked one up and am looking at buying grommets. Thanks in advance for replying with your experience.

Dropping off my Head Lady Pro to be CAPPED and strung tonight. I gave a little preliminary attempt and I think it will be ok. Probably as good as my Comp Pro turned out. Though I just figured out that this racquet is from the Pro Series, which is neither the Graphite Pro mold or the Prestige mold, so we'll see.

No, not CAP system grommets. The LM Radical MP use traditional grommets.
My problem is when I go to the TW website to order grommets, the list is by racquet name. I'm not familiar enough with the range of products to know which were CAP and which were traditional. Anyhow, I'm trying to get black or clear CAPs for a Lite Tour. Thanks

If you would like to put the C.A.P. System grommet on the Lite Tour 630 them you would like to use Microgel or Youtek Prestige MP grommets. If you want regular grommets I would suggest Microgel Radical MP grommets.

How hard is it to switch cap grommets on a i. prestige MP?

I find MG cap grommets to look way cooler, so I'm about to buy those to replace the original (doesn't cover the racquet's head fully). Is it the better choice or is there any other cap grommets that would fit better?

I want this:

Instead of this (original grommets):

oh yeah... items used to pull this off...

straight awl - making sure grommets guide into the holes

small flat head screw driver - help press the grommet into place through the narrow CAP slit

vasoline - helped with some of the nasty grommets, especially with the tie off (larger ones)

grinder awl (file or sand paper) - cleared the way of any burs or hole defects

microwave - to heat up CAP, made more pliable

(i did not need these items, but just in case i have used some scrap string to loop through two holes and pull the grommet through, then hold the loop in place with my speed clamp, keeping pressure down on the bumper/grommet)

and also needed, brute strength. again, my fingers are killing me, but definitely worth it and not difficult to do... just have to take your time... grommets can bend and break easy.

for the MG Radical MP i used the CAP for a MG Prestige MP... the CAP size/spacing (besides the beam width) is very, very close.

How long did you hit it with the waves?
