Hybrid advice

Hi guys currently using rpm blast with prince syngut crosses. Its my first hybrid and fancy something else to compare to, therefore when I restring I want something different.

Have been looking around, Dunlop black widow caught my eye, and maybe babolat Xcel crosses?

I have a head youtek radical pro, any advice appreciated!

I've not rated myself but I have a big swing with not much topspin, all court player. (Sorry not much to go on!)

Thanks

I'm glad you're not going to spend too much time on a poly setup. A lot of people make the mistake of playing them past expiration. If you want to see whether you would prefer a hybrid setup or a full bed, I'd recommend trying a full set of RPM Blast next, at a little lower tension. From there, you will be able to narrow down on the stringbed configuration that you like. Or if you want to abandon the idea of a poly hybrid, try a full set of a poly vs. a full set of a multi or a synth gut. Do you have two racquets? You may want to keep notes.

I find my current setup too stiff for my liking, I struggle with volleys as a result especially.

A softer setup needed I think?

This is definitely a very good combination and the price is not too expensive.

I live in the UK and cant seem to find anywhere here that sells it! No way am I paying £10 delivery with a 4-6 week wait haha.

Maybe try RPM team if blast is too stiff? or drop the tension

Looks OK to me, was also thinking yonex tour pro maybe? Not sure what to cross it with though.

Just switch them around ;)
You'll be surprised how different it would be.

I like TB regular or soft on the mains and Prince Premiere LT on crosses then.
Please don't od full bed poly, just hybrid unless your racquet is very flexible.
Thanks, Mikeler I will try the your combo as I have a racquet like you have.

I have a youtek radical pro which is pretty flexible, but I don't think I'm at a level where a full bed of poly is feasible.

Whatever combo I go for I want to make sure I get the right gauge, so with my 98 inch 16x19 string pattern would 17 gauge be about right?

I noticed the prince syngut I have now is 15L :/ no wonder its so thick!

Just purchased same strings as yourself to try :)

Tensions for my rad pro?

I'd start with 52/56 like I do. That is on a lockout BTW. Go a little lower if your machine is constant pull.

OK thanks. I get my racquets strung locally at a shop so I will ask them what they use :) thanks buddy.

P.s sorry to be stupid but I assume that's Black5Edge @ 52 and thunderblast @ 56 ?

Thanks

Mikeler have you tried tour bite or silverstring with the thunderblast? Out of interest, thanks :)

Dude,

You asked for a tension recommendation and when he answered you, you said you were going to ask at the pro shop. That's really poor form. I wouldn't expect Mikeler to reply on this thread again, so don't hold your breath waiting.

Actually, I meant I will ask them what machine they use, not what tension. So mikeler if you thought the same as Muppet then apologies but I did not mean that, thanks.

As mikeler said some tension adjustments may need to be made depending on the stringing machine, that's what I meant I will ask at the shop.

That is correct. I recently tried 56/60 and I do like it better but it puts more strain on my arm so I don't plan on sticking with it.

I've tried Tour Bite Soft with Babolat N.Vy crosses but not Silverstring.

No worries.

Yes, if they have a constant pull machine then you may want to try something like 48/52.

Received the thunderblast today :)

Love that nice gluey smell out of the package. :)

In the end with what you said about 56/60 feeling better than 52/56 I thought I'd go somewhere in the middle 54/58. Let's see how long this setup lasts!

Keep in mind that is lockout tension. If you have a constant pull machine, the string bed will be tighter. 56/60 is just on the verge of being too stressful for my arm, so I'll stay with 52/56.

Yes it was a constant pull, luckily I had wrote down to use 50/54 if he used his constant pull machine, as he wasn't there when I arrived so I left a note with his wife. I'm hoping that's correct? I put down 54/58 if it was a lockout machine.
