Djokovic will have 2014 dominance.

Nadal has way too much points to defend and I'm 90% sure that Djokovic will finish solidly as the year end number one. He will win 2-3 grandslams next year and have a 2011-like performance. Nadal will be age 28 and slowly de-priming as his knees decay. Murray will have his problems adjusting to his back surgery and federer will just be invisible. Don't get overwhelmed. Still a long way to go. I wish that this happens. :)

Why do people constantly refer to points to defend? They will both start with 0 in the points race - I couldn't care less about points to win. If Djoko wins more games/tournaments next year then he will dominate - same for Nadal. Defending points doesn't really come into it.

Jesus people are obsessed with points to defend around here.

Nadal is now number 1 in the world because he won so many points this year - nothing to do with Djoko defending anything.

There is one thing for sure, Nadal will remain number 1 until US open 2014 at least.
Remember he didn't play AO and lost R1 in Wimbledon, so expect him to keep his number 1 seat for many more months.

Let's not get carried away, but yes I think 2014 will be quite interesting. I think again a few epic matches will decide the year.

Absolutely. I said that many times already. 2014 will be repeat of 2011. It starts with winning the 2013 DC, just like 2012 DC.

depends on Nadal's health and desire, as usual...

if Nadal is healthy and motivated, he is dominant as has been proven over and over!

I only look forward to bumping this thread a year from now (or less) and laughing at it. Thanks OP for giving us a thread to do that and make fun of you in the future.

I agree. History ALWAYS repeats itself. He who controls the Davis Cup.... controls history. 2014 will be a dominant Djokovic year.

Here is the proof.

Yes. It is clear now that 2104 is shaping to be similar to 2011. Also it is clear that Nadal is incapable or maintaining exceptional form and winning multiple slams for two consecutive seasons.

So here is the pattern:
2009 - After having a great previous year ( 2008 ), Djokovic plays a sub-par season below expectations. Nadal misses big part of the season due to injury.
2012 - After having a great previous year ( 2011 ), Djokovic plays a sub-par season below expectations. Nadal misses big part of the season due to injury.

2010 - Djokovic plays another sub-par season below expectations, but at the end he wins the DC which gives him great confidence. Nadal has exceptional season after coming back from injury, winning everything everywhere.
2013 - Djokovic plays another sub-par season below expectations, but at the end he wins the DC which gives him great confidence. Nadal has exceptional season after coming back from injury, winning everything everywhere.

2011 - Djokovic 2.0 makes an appearance and has GOAT season. Nadal's level drops from previous exceptional season.
2014 - ?????

Be afraid, be very afraid - Djokovic 2.1 is coming to a tennis court near you in 2014.

Could you please stop trying to derail each and every thread about Novak. Thank you.

Quite frankly, you are not one to talk, given your trolling of Nadal and Fedal threads.

By making a prediction that Novak will have a superior 2014 is just that, since we are still in 2013.

One win over Nadal and Djokovic is set to dominate 2014. Interesting. Makes sense, no?

One defeat is all it will take for this prediction to go wrong, no? The guy who's handed Novak 22 defeats in career so far will hand him a few more like always.

Laughable, truly laughable. Considering that you derail close to every thread that you possibly can with your Nadal-hate, you have absolutely no room to talk.

Please stop making false accusations about me, it's quite rude and uncalled for.

Thank you.

Here is the proof.

Chico, none of the commentators referred to Novak's 2010 as a sub par year, it was considered on par with 2009, maybe even slightly better.

Novak may have a superior 2014, or he once again may only win only 1 slam. 2011 was an anomaly, a fantastic anomaly, nonetheless.

Outside of 2011, Novak hasn't won more than 1 slam, has not won GS for the last consecutive 9 years.

11160 > 11120, deal with it!

Yeah they'll never learn. They'll just keep waiting until something like this happens, then they'll come out in full force. But the second Nadal wins and Nadal fans are happy, they act like innocent victims.

2014 will be like 2013 has become post April. Djokovic fans going ballistic over a 500 title as that is the best he will manage. Not only Slams but even Masters proving elusive.

Lol at Nadal fans being showing fear. You should be afraid indeed. Prepare for this in 2014:

LOL you're really a troll. Why should Nadal fans be afraid? Nadal handily defeated Djokovic in most important matches.

FYI, other than 2011, Nadal always dominates Djokovic.

Not necessarily, but, it may be the year of the Argentinian! Or Murray could have a great year.

If Nadal can recover from this:

Djokovic has already taken a the step which Nadal took at MC 12.

Not sure what you mean there.

Oh, are you equating a 500 tournament with a M1000 tournament? If so, then I guess you mean that Novak will miss a huge chunk of 2014.

A win is a win. Nadal could not till MC 12. Djokovic knows to handle players like Rosol and Darcis so no misses in 2014. 8)

Yep, it never fails. I guess they have to have something to troll about since their hero hadn't won a title since April. Too bad for them it's only a 500 event at the end of the season.

2014 is 2 months away, I guess we'll start finding out how everyone is doing then. We'll see if Nadal is on the 2 year plan or not then. We'll see if Novak has a great year, we'll see if Murrey or DelPo step up and have an awesome year. That's the beauty of a new year, you don't know what surprises are around the corner.

No one saw Nadal's 2010, Novak's 2011, or Nadal's 2013 coming.

Who won't we see coming in 2014, only time will tell.

Djokovic's 2014 is my wishful thinking. I hope that it happens. Why so rational??? I may become serious or troll depending upon if I am confronting a troll post or a genuine post. We all know anyhing can happen. Even Delpo can take 3 with 4th one going to a young gun. There are endless feasible possibilities. If we keyboard warriors would have been deciding their fate, the champs would not have been breaking sweat there on tennis courts. :)

LOL you arent satisfied with 2012. As a Federer fan you should be thrilled with something like that, since that is the best you can even dream of at this stage of his career. If you want 2009 or better, well be patient, he is eligible for the Seniors Tour in a few years.

How many points does Nadal have to defend at the Australian Open and Wimbledon? See, that's the problem for Djokovic. The most Djokovic can add at those 2 tournaments is 800 points, whereas Nadal could gain 4000 points.

Wrong.... it's 3990 points! He got 10 points for losing in the first round!

No clue of what you're talking about. I'm expecting a CYGS next year! :)

firstly... I'm giving the Czech's the slight lead at the DC finals... Secondly, Djokovic would need a miracle to have another 2011 type year just like Rafa would need a miracle to have another year like he is having right now.

The fact is Rafa is in form right now, so is Stan who pushed Novak very hard in Australia this year. To say that one of them could NOT knock Novak out is just plain stupid.

Czechs have no chance. Nadal's shameless lapdog is supposedly injured or he just lied and let Nadal win. Also Stepanek has no chance vs Tipsa any more.

Djokovic 2, Tipsa 1 or 2 and doubles are toss up.

So it will be 4-1 or 5-0 for Serbia.

Also dismissing Novak in AO after three consecutive titles and after he just dismantled Nadal on similar surface is what is plain stupid.

I agree! Not, necessarily on DC, I think that's pretty even Steven. It all depends on Berdych's back.

Anyone could have a great year in 2014. It could be Novak, Nadal, Murray, or DelPo. Shoot, Raonic has done better than anyone thought after switching coaches.

There are no guarantees for what 2014 will bring for any player.
