Reissue of Dunlop HM 300G and MW 200G?

I saw on another online store that they are selling the Hotmelt 300G and Muscle Weave 200G. The reissued racquets are sold in the Big 5 fashion (pre strung with Dunlop syn gut). Does anyone know if this reissue is something that Dunlop is doing for everyone? Would anyone buy one or two? I'm close to buying 2 HM 300g and 1 MW 200G

I just looked at it and there's an issue with how they have listed the items. They have pictures of the HM 300G for the product description and video for the MW 200G. That's a pretty big mix up when it's not just the photo for the description but also a video as well. It's very odd.

I asked them about that...said they should have it remedied by the end of the day, but how do you screw that up in the first place?

I saw the mixup too. That said, from the looks of things, having looked not only at that site, but a few other TW competitors, many of them seem to have both the 200G MW and the 300G Hotmelt re-issue for sale so it wouldn't surprise me if they eventually came to TW. The interesting thing is that the listed specs on these various sites are off a bit off (i.e. stiffness rating on one site is 60, whereas on another its 67).

Having previously played with the MW200g, if its the same racket as before, it should be closer to 60. It was a great racket, although a bit underpowered compared to the PT280 and so I ended up selling mine a while back. But it was probably the sweetest feeling 95 I've ever hit with. I wouldn't mind if they made this reissue slight more stiff (i.e. in the 62-63 range) although I'm sure the MW200g purists out there would disagree.

While the MW 200g & HM 300g are excellent rackets. They don't come anywhere close to beating the HM 200g in feel or control. Ive played with all 3 variations and the HM 200g has an amazing buttery feel that i cannot find in any other racket. Needless to say, if you haven't played a HM 300g or MW 200g, they are definitely worth the try!

I think most will say the opposite as far as which is more buttery and etc...

He uses HM 300G.
But a much, much heavier version I'm sure. I liked the HM300G except that it was too light so there was not enough mass for me to pull my 1HBHs crosscourt. It was great for hitting DTL backhands, though. But that was the only backhand I could hit with it so I sold it. You need a lot more mass to hit those 1HBHs that Almagro hits.

BTW, I absolutely loved the black and orange rubberized paintjob of the HM300G! :)

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!

Is this for real? MW 200G 95 is one of Dunlops best 95s.

Both are great frames.

Breakpoint- I agree. At the time the HM 300g was originally released it was the perfect racquet for me. Since then though I've moved to heavier frames so I'm not sure how the 300gwould hold up. Ido have fond memories of the racquet.

I wonder how the public will receive these new re releases. Hands down they are 2 of dunlops best racquets they ever made but not sure if they could compete with babolats aero pros and pure drives.

Just customized with lead and silicone.........

Warning: the HM 300g was notorious for breaking/ weak frame. If Dunlop is producing the frame like the original I imagine the reissue will be the same

Just customize weight, balance, and swing weight to something that is better for you. That is what Almagro does.

MW 200G 95 is a great frame.
I also used the MW 200G 95 on and off for a number of years. Nice soft feel but since I was transitioning from the Max200G, it just didn't quite match up to it in the plush, solid, vibration-free departments. I also felt the 18x20 string pattern took away some of the bite and feel, as well as some of the power.

Most sites don't match up (especially the manufacturer website and retailers like TW and TE). To compensate for this I look for the spec on a racquet that I have experience with (on the website in question) and compare the specifications to the racquet that I don't have experience with. For example, I look at the specs of a six one 95 18x20 (on the SAME website) and compare them to the Dunlop 300g and decide if the 300g is stiffer or softer.

For some reason I'm not enjoying the 300G. I don't like how it feels and was actually considering getting rid of it.

Anyone with string suggestions for another trial?

I wonder why Dunlop is reissuing the 300G in the HM PJ and the 200G in the MW cosmetic. Why not one or the other?

It will be interesting to read future threads and reviews of these rackets, in particular the MW200.

Is there potential for the hype on the reissued MW200 to match the TF 315 Ltds? #PT630-ish #Butter

Wow and at only $120 too - bargain?

MW 200G was tremendously successful when it was released.

Then the HM line was released and the HM200G was not as popular as the MW version (that's only because the MW200G absolutely killed it!). Meanwhile, the then-newly introduced 300G filled a nice niche of 10.5-11.5oz range of players' frames.

I walked across London to get my MW200g being sold cheap off the film lot. They were filming clothes models in tennis gear and the MW200g was a prop. The racquet felt famous already...

One thing to look forward to seeing again is the svelte slim beam of the MW.
Every other Dunlop 200 iteration from the M-Fils onward looked and swung thicker because they seemed to be afflicted with beam creep. It just felt like it was the slightly thicker paint coatings?

Because both the MW200G and the HM300G were very popular when they were on the market so it makes sense to re-issue those two models with their familiar paintjobs.

The Bio versions are better frames IMHO. The 300G was ok... but not without lots of mods. I would not pay $120.00 for either of them.

I bet there is some influence here from the Prince Original Graphite.

Prince brings a POG comeback, so Dunlop brings a MW200G comeback.

Next thing you know, you will be able to get a Pro Staff 95 in original colors.

Seems like racquet brands are going two directions.
1. Back to the roots. Prince went way back. They are going with the original graphite and calling it new. Head has always been producing re releases that you find at big 5 ( ti s6, mg radical etc)

2. Turn "Babolat". Evidence: graphene radicals and wilson six ones. The graphene radicals are thicker, lighter and more hollow. Wilson is implementing "parallel drilling". Babolat's racquets have had parallel grommets since the start. Seems like brands are still trying to figure out what makes babolat racquets so popular.

As for the Dunlops, the mw and 300g have to be 2 of Dunlops best frames of the modern era. I'm glad they are releasing them. I hope people who have never tried the racquets, get a chance to appreciate these two great frames.

I'm not much of a player who changes sticks often, but I did play with the MW 200g for about 5 years until they gave finally gave out. They were absolutely the best feeling stick that I have ever played with. The reason I play with my Old Rebels is that it's the closest that I can get to that buttery feeling of my old ***.

I see in the description that the bridge has been beefed up from the original model. If this changes the feel then it will be a 'no go' for me, but if the sticks feel like the originals then I may have to finally retire my Rebels.

Beware of the re-issues ...

Beware of the re-issues. Just because they painted it the same, does not mean it will be the same racquet. I've been burned by this.

I've had re-issues of the Revelation. They were nothing like the originals. Their specs were different to boot. This might be a clue.

What do you mean by that?

If you're referring to the kevlar in the bridge than you're wrong because that's nothing new. It was present in the old version.

Please elaborate.

You are correct. On a competitors site, they merged the new description with the old making it sound like they beefed up the bridge from the original version. With that being said, I've never played with a reissue that felt like the original.

Yep, the Wilson PS85 RI didn't, the older Prince POG didn't, but the new Prince POG reisusses do. At least to me. It's a crapshoot. There are some good experts here who will verify that when they come out though.

If you elbow is your friend (no TE that is) then can I humbly suggest low poly in it.

I recall having Lux BB, 16, at about 45lbs and it was just insane fun.

I had lead in the trapdoor, and maybe some just above the grip.

Failing that get your regular stringjob in it so you can make a comparison based on the overtly familiar in order to make a direct and true comparison.

happy hitting

TW re-issue PS 6.0 85 is more flexible than the olden days releases. Good or bad is up to the individual player. I, for one, like the more flexible re-issue. :)
