Baricade toe jaming

Ok I know this has been a problem with the B7-8 and my toes are starting to hurt more from it not less. So officially I think I'm done with b8 s after this pair.

So the question is how do the B5 re release feel concerning this issue?

Any other input on b5 would be greatly appreciated. Still looking for my cb4.3 replacement.

Thanks in advance.

The Barricade 5 Classic is an IMPROVED Barricade 5 over the original in terms of fit and comfort in my opinion. My feet feel locked in, no toe jamming, and super comfortable.

How would you compare the new B5 classic with the B8? I've been using Barricade 8s for a while now and need a new pair. I'm wondering if I should stick with the B8, try the B5 classic, or I'm also thinking about trying the Nike Zoom Vapor Tour 9.5?

I used to swear by the Barricades... That is until I got sick and tired of the shoes killing my feet... Switched over to the Babolat Propulse line and love them so much I haven't looked back... The Propulse I think provides far superior comfort and stability... The shoes may wear a little quicker by that's a fine trade off for saving my feet

Wow, complete opposite experience with me.

I used to wear propulses all of the time. I would wear the Propulse 3 on and off and I wore the Propulse 4 for a short time, I didn't really like it all that much. They were decently comfortable, but my feet didn't really feel locked in with them and there were on the heavier side as well. Not nearly as much as the Barricade 8, hands down the best shoe I've ever worn for feeling REALLY locked in, as in these things will not slip off of your feet....which is pretty awesome.

I'm surprised you found that the Propulses saved your feet instead of a lighter shoe like say a Nike Vapor 9.5, or Adidas Feather III. Also I don't get why everyone says the Barricade line is uncomfortable. Takes a little breaking in, yeah. But after that they are great.

is toe jamming a shoe related problem? i thought it was a size problem

size and whimpiness problem...
Had B1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
No toe jamming.
Just need to learn how to fit the shoes and how to tie them properly.

Had B1,2,3,4,5,6,7 & 8.
No toe jamming on any until the B8.
There is not enough volume in the toe box (height of inside of shoe between the insole and inside of toe box) in the B8, hence the B8 does rub my big toes. None of the other Barricades have done it.

Slight adjustment to the shoe I did and have had no more toe jamming surprises. I had one the first time I wore them and thought this was going to be an issue. I figured out the issue was a lacing/fit problem because I set them up like I did the 7s. Slight change and I can still lace up somewhat loosely (i.e. be able to slip the shoes On/Off without untying them), which is how I wore my 7s and had no issues. Once I figured this out, no more problems. The toe box in the 8s seems to be a bit wider for the front foot so that it doesn't mush your toes together anymore from the sides. Because of this, some people slide forward inside the shoe and bang their big toe.

I kinda do what you do and so far it hasn't been a problem, at least on clay....

Big Mistake..........

One of the biggest mistakes players make when buying tennis shoes is thinking that their tennis shoe size is the same as their dress shoe size. If you are hammering your toes when playing you have the wrong size tennis shoe. You need 1/4 to 1/2in of space in the toe area when the tennis shoes are laced properly. You also have to make sure you have the proper width for your foot type. There are three basic foot types, pronated, supinated, and neutral. Find out what your foot type is and avoid long term injury issues. Forget about what the pros wear and find the shoe that works for your feet and needs.

Cheers, TennezSport

I think it's more among the lines here, the shoe is not too small for my size, but it allows for too much movement/forward slide:

I can agree the b8 toejaming issues are partly because they run large possibly a half size. Above and beyond that I wear the leading / outside edge of my shoes far quicker than any other part and I am starting to feel like an anckle roll will soon come from this and that is why I wont be buying anymore of them. The way cb4.3 protrudes off the outside results in far more stability than barricades stabilizer for me personally. I'm starting to miss my cb4.3s even though they are pleagued by defects.

I wish I knew that B8 run large possibly half a size...I still have some black blisters on my toes (luckily no black nails) from the first time I've played in them in only one pair of socks (doesn't seem too bad now with 2 pairs though). I usem them on clay, so I hope that I won't wear out the outside edge like you do (and me on the hard courts)...

Yeah CBs 4.3 were the best, the main defect being the flimsy shoe laces though.

The lace loops didn't really bother me if only 1 popped but if 2 or more go the shoe doesn't really support well enough after that. The air Max in the heel blowing was the bigger issue for me they are finished as soon as this happens.

That's true and I would either sue the lace back or replace the shoes, b/c by that time they would start to give in support wise anyhow...

I never had an air bubble pop myself, in the many pairs of CB.s 4.3 I owned.

Another minor thing: I don't think that the sole was as durable as before (in 2.3).

I popped 3 the first 2 I was already through to the midsole. The last was 8 weeks in and I only got about 10-12 out of them but I was given a brand new replacement with warenty so I wound up with almost 9 months play from 1 purchase. The 2 colorways I remember it happened in were the black volt and white navy volt. I wore cb4.3. From ao 12 until ao 2014 only trying amc through the period. Just worn through my b8s lbs on the way ill redeem my adidas credit on a pair of b5s see if I like them. Hopefully lunar court balistec cb outsole lunar cushioning adaptive fit lacing and some better looking upper than the lb will come ao 15 but we were stuck with defective Cb for 2 years so I imagine it will be the same here

This may be oversimplifying...but I think it is a lacing issue

I've only been playing seriously for a couple of years and I used to have some of the same issues.

The bottom line that I've found worked for me is simple: you have to lace up your shoes tighter and keep them that way. I saw the comment where you want to take your shoes off without untying them??!! To me that suggests you aren't tying them nearly tight enough to stop your feet from moving inside the shoe and hammering the toenail against the shoe no matter how big the shoe is.

Another key is that IMHO you need to re-tie them about every set to keep them locked in. The final point I'll make is that the bottom laces need to be tight too. Too often only the top is tied tight and eventually the slack from the bottom eyelets will work its way up and make your feet start sliding in your shoe again.

Again sorry if this is oversimplifying things but then again I wonder if you are making this more complex than it needs to be...at least from my experience. Good luck!

Will lace them tighter, although my feet usually don't like that (after a while). Playing with two pairs of socks helps as well, but it's not ideal.
At least I've never once lost my footing with B8 on har thru with their clay court pattern (interrupted at the arch, but that probably doesn't matter much). Granted I'm moving a tad cautious after a knee injury a couple of weeks ago.

I've found that the bottom laces on Adidas shoes can be a lot harder to cinch than other brands, but it doesn't cause my toe to jam.
