Berankis is in a slump. Congratulations to the TTW darling and best of luck in Q3.
Greetings TW, Thanks so much for those who have wished support to our team. What a great experience and so much fun for my first backstage credentialed experience.
Totally agree that the immaturity/inexperience showed (I remember back to when I was 18 and just laugh a bit). But so encouraged by the physical capability shown by straight setting ATP 170 and an opening set 2 break beating of former ATP 67, before the meltdown. Who know what could've been if the pressure was kept in check and momentum progressed. The qualifer in the section won 1st round today!
I do agree on potentially being decent in college, especially after last weeks performance and beating both the current and former NCAA champs in recent practice matches (bummer on SJ's retirement just now), however as far as not being a very good prospect, i disagree.
Thanks again to all those with encouraging thoughts as we learn from our mistakes, address shortcomings and plow onward. I look forward to supporting all USA players, young and less young to increasing success in the near future.
Age and maturity are not necessarily the same thing, a person can age and not mature. Playing as junior in the pros is easy, playing as a pro in the pros not so much, we'll see how it goes.Greetings TW, Thanks so much for those who have wished support to our team. And what is the counter-argument?
The counter argument is what business is it of anyone to tell another person who they don't know what to do. Who gives a **** what someone does who we don't even know?

Well, if I were in Collin's personal presence and told him what he should do, then that would be different than discussing it on a message board, wouldn't it? A message board discussion is for the purposes of clarifying in our own minds what is best for American tennis. No one here is "telling anyone what to do."
what? what kind of response is that?
Giron actually lost to a lot of college guys last year and was far from the best, he just happened to win NCAAs, which we all know is a diluted field at best. I would put a lot of guys well ahead of Giron, imo.

how is he get his most of his time in Virginia in academics ? with going there for only 1/2 of the year starting in January? sounds like not a serious commitment to academics to me............
next we need to see Peter Smith pull the rabbit out of the hat... maybe the rabbit's name is Alexios and/or Dieton ...
If he accepted prize money he is ineligible for NCAA D1 schools.
I am not sure how that works, based on the wording it almost seems like you can only accept money from Open tournaments or as expenses from pro tournaments.
Noah Rubin earned $48,000 for his appearance in the US Open and discusses the NCAA rules in this interesting piece. http://www.wralsportsfan.com/ncaa-a...lege-standouts-forfeiting-thousands/14196754/
he's been pro more than a year,so maybe?
Baughman officially turned pro in February so he can't play college tennis now, even if he wanted to (except at the NAIA level;
But since he's only made about $5k in prize money in 2014, doesn't that mean that he is still under the $10k limit so could still go to college?
"Officially turned pro" is a meaningless statement. He is certainly eligible to play NCAA tennis as far as amateur status. I doubt he is prepared academically, I think school has never been in his plans.

False. If he signed with an agent, he can't play D1 sports.
