T Fight 315?

Wanted to add the key bullet points for this racquet that over time I have found to be true :

- Weight. Already gone over this but you need the stick at a minimum of ~340- 345 depending on balance preferences (weight at 12 plus weight in tail for 345) to really have it optimized. So if you are cool with those specs then this is a great demo.

- Strings. You can string low. Anyone that likes full poly in the low 40s will love this racquet. I play a hybrid that comes off the stringer at 56#s then drops to around 50# after the first hit. From there it settles at 45 before breaking.

When the tension is at 45#s this racquet is lethal for me. I could see stringing full poly at 45#s and having the same effect.

Just a few things to take note of if you are demoing or thinking about buying this frame.

Ok so I have finally gotten my Tec 315's and I am really happy with how they feel compared to pt 57a's that I have. I have weighted and balanced them the same as the 57a's I have. they have the same feel with a little more pop. These Tecs actually feel closer to the 57'as I have then some other 57a I bought earlier in the year that I had to sell off cause I did not like them at all. I can get these tecs for basically a third of the price for new pt's. this is what I will be doing from now on and I am really really happy with the purchase considering I did not demo I simply went on forum advice that it felt similar to what I was using. Thnks TW forum posters you have steered me in the right direction.

You are talking about which version of 315, 18x20?
And what is your setup?

PP -
after all this time, are there any new conclusions about your stick? you've gone back to it after the Tour g, no?
any fresh input will be nice to hear.

i'm considering finding this stick at the bay or something.
but your using the 18X20? what about the 16X19?

i'm still not sure about the weight though.
i think that 330 is around my limit.

I use the 16x19.

I find the racquet ineffective at 330 grams

New conclusions - i still really love the frame, and will never sell it.

thanks.
so - if i have a weight limit that prevents me from utilizing the Ltd,
could you maybe recommend the best similar stick i can try (perhaps a platform)?

i fear that 335 and above might cause me fatigue after a set.

I have no idea. Im going to try the Volkl super G 295 to see how I play with such a light frame. That could be a good candidate.

I don't know what you are looking for though.

i really dig the more classic frames.
as you know, i tried the Ai98 and the modern feel was a big turn off.
also, i didn't connect to that frame.
i went back to my trusty (modiefied) dunlop 3hundred.
but i still wanna get me something around that feel, something that will be a sort of an upgrade. you told me you used the Dunlop, so you know what i mean.
the Ai98 was a huge mistake - too speedy through the air, couldn't adjust, shots got loopy, etc..

it felt to me like the Ltd will give me something similar to the Dunlop with a better feel.
surprised you wanna try Volkl - i think you said you hated the grip ;)

I did, but I was using 3/8ths. Since I have dropped to 1/4 grips on all frames I can get along with about anything.

You are right about the Tec. It will do all those things. It just doesn't have any power so it needs weight to play well.

i know it's a bit of a long shot,
but would it be worth trying the Youtek Prestige s?
i know it's not such a highly praised frame,
but since it's so cheap atm..
did you demo it ?

FWIW I used the same logic and picked one up last week. Haven't been able to hit with it so no feedback yet. If interested I'll post my thoughts in a couple weeks after I've played with it. Can't beat the price:)

Ive never tried it. The newer one may be a bit better from what I have heard. A lot of this stuff is just personal opinion and all I can do is post my own.

As I read through every pages of this awesome thread, I believe I will eventually buy this stick since everything seems to scream what I love about the Youtek Prestige MP but more powerful, better control, feel, ball pocketing, etc...

I like the Youtek Prestige MP but I wish I could control my forehands DTL and something a little more forgiving and a tad more powerful.

What absolutely surprised me is even those who used the IG Prestige MP, PT57A/PT630/PT280 I figured the 18 Mains would win and it turns out to be the complete opposite.

So based on the TFight 315 16 Mains vs IG Prestige MP, it does everything better except I might lose a touch on Control but gain on everything else?

Tough call. The tec is still an advanced frame like the prestige, and that is the only negative i can find or id own 5 of them. The 16 mains is verdascos actual frame when he was with tec. So if you watch him play, it hits that trajectory of shot if you know what you are doing. No one will ever have that amzing forehand but you will at least taste what its like, and thats pretty cool.

Serving is easier to me with this frame though. It is the best frame i have served with. Nothing can top it there, except the fatigue, as this frame seems meant to be set up like verdasco preferred. Higher static weight with a lower swingweight. You will not be able to polarize the frame and crank the sw up unless you want a head heavy frame that weighs 345 grams or you want a 365 gram frame basically how his was set up.

If you like the prestige mp, i think you will like this frame though. It has some magic to it if you add lead tape and are cool with using a frame that is weighted to at least 345 grams. If not, you will not like this racquet, as it simply does not perform the same at a 330 gram weight.

Thanks for the reply Power Player.

Oh believe me Verdasco is one of my favorite players and his monster forehand vs Nadal via Australian Open 2009 was a thing of magic that I wish I could replicate if my life depended on it (IMO the best forehand ever along with Federer's).

I'm seriously interested in this stick. I don't mind tampering with lead. I was thinking buying a Yonex Overgrap, probably do a nat gut/poly hybrid high 40's most likely, power pads and experiment with lead tape as I play along.

I'm most likely gonna buy the 16 main but is the difference basically just a tad better control with the 18 mains but does everything else better?

Yeah. I was really into 18 mains for a long time and the 16 main version of this got me to switch. It is like having a classic head frame with an open pattern in a true 98 with a little more pop. Id suggest 16 for sure.

You will love it on serve. Its special.

Great!

I think you sold me. I will receive demo the ProStaff 97 just to try this one first to give it a shot but if that frame does not sell me, the Tecnifibre definately will.

Thanks for the feedback Power Player. Much appreciated :)

I still use that or the pro staff. They are weighted the same. I just deal with it for now, because heavier frames are what I prefer. I'm going to check out the volkl 295 and see how I play with a light frame.

Ok. Picked myself up a TF135 16M as I'm in search for something more arm friendly. Strung it with Yonex Poly Tour Pro in low tension like how it is with my TF320. Leaded up at 12 a bit to match my TF320 swingweight.
It feels like soggy noodles with this setup being a much softer frame. Horrible really. Definitely more arm friendly though.

This frame is probably best with a stiffer crispier stringbed? Looking for recommendation on what strings and tension to try. Something crisp with decent power. Thanks.

Solinco Tour bite 1.10 @ 46/44 transformed the racquet for me. You can always try a thicker gauge to suit your game.

This - although I'm using Tour Bite 1.15 @ 52#. It comes down to personal preference, but I always like to pair a crisp string with a flexible racquet like this. When I've tried softer strings in this racquet, it's extremely comfortable, but I have a difficult time feeling the ball on the strings.

Can anyone compare the 315 to the graphene pp? Kind of similar specs except for the huge difference in SW. I just switched from the youtek pp to the graphene pp, mainly because the static weight of 12+ ozs was wearing me out after an hour of playing. I've been happy so far with the graph pp, but this 315 sounds really nice. Would love to hear from someone who's hit both.

If you get worn out from the prestige pro, it will just be a little easier with the Tec, but not a lot. The tec needs to be leaded up to 340 grams to really have any power.

Put it like this - the Tec is one of my favorite frames I have bought, if not my favorite. But after 6 months I started looking for an easier version of the frame and it took me another year to find it. The closest I have come is the Volkl 10 295, but it is a different type of frame.

Thanks. Since switching from the youtek to the graph pp the 10g less static weight solved the fatigue problem. So I've zeroed in on the max weight I can handle. 335g approx. The thing I love most about the graph pp is serving. I can really nail my serve with this racket. Will the lower sw be a problem with the tec? I generate a lot of my own power, so thats not a big concerm for me.

Its great frame, so I'd say give it a shot. But if you are struggling with fatigue, it is not the best option. I did not like the frame at 335 personally. It really needs a boost in SW since it is so soft.

Thanks again. I'll probably pick up a used one a fiddle around with it. There's just too many people raving about this stick for me not to give it a try.

Been messing with my TF315 LTD 16x19 further. So far, I can’t seem to find the right string setup. The feel is rather messed up to me as I’m not quite getting the “feel” you all seem to talk about here. It seems to be very string & tension sensitive so I haven’t quite find a good match yet. Solinco TB is next.

Comparing to the TF320, it further validates how much I like the TF320. I don't think you can quite make a TF315 come close to matching the TF320 with customization.

Overlapping the 2, the TF320 actually has a rather larger string area than the TF315. Strange I know given the small 95 sq. in. spec. I also notice the wider frame hoop at the top. Couple that with the additional weight and more open string patterm, The TF320 feels like it has a larger and higher sweetspot.

The TF320 just suits my serves and strokes better as I tend to hit higher in the string pattern. Only issue is it’s just not as elbow friendly as the TF315.

I’ll continue to find ways to soften it up a bit while I tweak the TF315 further.

The Tfight 320 is a total different feeling frame, so it makes sense if you prefer that.

The Tfight 315 has a small sweet spot that rewards hard hitting right in it. That's really where the magic feel comes from.

Personally, I would suggest a hybrid poly main syn gut cross at around 54-56#s.

From what it sounds like, you may be missing the sweetspot a little high, and that is the issue. I would suggest around 4-5 grams of lead at 12 to remedy that.

I noticed that frames with "reinforced" frame hoop at the top tend to punish elbow when hit higher in the stringbed. If top does not flutter, that's not arm friendly.

1. Can anybody confirm that the current 59 flex TF 315 Ltd has a slightly larger head than a 98in Prestige? I know a Prestige MP is closer to 95, and while I've never owned a TF, I've heard the heads on some models are closer to 99.

2. If the 315 Ltd. is slightly larger, is it wider at the sides? or is it deeper near the throat.

Thanks.

I just strung up the newer 315 Tecnifibre rackets. There was one of the test 315 'blacked out' TFight which looked like the pattern was much more open so I compared them and the test racket was 99.5 si. I didn't measure the other but I would assume it is 98 si at the very most. The head on the test racket was wider and longer that the other.

315ltd is exactly the same size as Head prestige MP/pro/pro tour 630 so closer to 95 than 98...i posted a photo overlying the two and the mold is nearly indentical just gromet channels and drill pattern is different

Never ended up buying one of these. I intended to, but huge sales on BLX ProStaff 90 got me pair of them instead.

Also it was not easy to get Techifibre 315 in Canada for some reason.
