Nadal to do it again in Paris

Djokovic has deluded himself into thinking he is to win the French and plow on to the Grand Slam.. 4 in a row would be amazing to see. Just not sure i could stomach it with Novak. I am very confidant that Rafa is going to get his legs back and be ready to dazzle the tennis world with a tenth title on the clay.

What a very original thread

But I will anti Jinx this Jinx thread, as a Rafa fan, and will change this
thread to:

Djokovic will finally beat Nadal in Paris this year.

Sorry but how has Djokovic deluded himself exactly? Have I missed something he's said recently in the press?

Unless you're a Nadal fan(which I gather you are) I'll never understand how anyone can want him to keep winning there every year instead of someone who'd be such a worthy champion and imo deserves at least one. Some things in life truly baffle me.

Not sure where I have seen Djoker make such a prediction, or even his most ardent fans predict it. ( a 2nd multi-Slam year would satisfy most of us).
He is yet to win RG, and even the AO-RG double itself has not been done in 23 years.

I don't think Djoko is that dumb. I think he is well aware that Nadal's perfs at AO are not an indicator of what Nadal does at RG. Actually, of all people, I would expect Djoko to know best after 6 losses to Nadal there... But of course he's a great competitor, so he has to keep hoping. Not much else to do.

When the #1 players in the world win the first grand slam tournament of the year, there is always knee-jerk, overly speculative exuberance that they will win the illustrious, Calendar Year Grand Slam (CYGS). The fact is, it has been done so infrequently in tennis history that there is an immediate aura of "greatest player ever" surrounding the winners.

Serena has a much easier path to her second "Serena Slam" at Wimbledon, followed by a CYGS at US Open, because of her dominance over the top ten, in spite of approaching her mid 30's. She's the current holder of (2) career grand slams. Lord willing and the creek don't rise.

Novak, on the other hand, has never won in Paris and the winningest clay court player in tennis history is defending. Like former number one's Pete Sampras, John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors, Novak will always struggle to win Paris. Some say it is a question of "when". I say it's a question of "if ever".

Oh well, at least Novak will have a more valid excuse for never winning it than Pete, Mac or Jimmy ever had! :)

Nadal always pretends he's the underdog. It's SOP.

I hate that underdog bs he always spews. He could lose every match he plays until the FO and in my eyes he would still be the big favorite at Rolland Garros. Nadal is way ahead of the pack at RG. Nole is a distant second.

I don't think it is fair to call Nadal's underdog talk BS. There are some cultures where being humble and understated is still considered the right thing to do regardless of one's personal feelings about one's own prospects in any given situation.

The great Australians like Emerson, Laver and Rosewall were like that, too, for example. The closest thing to an actual boast you'd hear from them was, "Even with Rocket and Muscles in the draw, I think I'd still have a shot at the title."

I notice the biggest talkers seldom if ever have the titles to back up their talk. Not even Serena or Roger talk or behave like some of the younger players before going out to put another Slam under their belt.

Where did he leave his legs? I thought he only left his appendix?
