Murray Underarmour shoes for Wimbledon

nice... I get employee discount adidas though (though Im not an employee) so I just cant beat those deals. Still, I'm curious as to what Andy wears for the USO series. Wimby is always so bland with all the white but I like the tradition... A little color like Mac's original Sergio Tachini gear is nice though... has wimby clamped down on that little bit of color even?

Where is the shoes on sale now ?? I heard chshioning really suck on these though

I hate that I always seem to he the guy sticking up for UA in these threads but have you tried on or own a pair of UA shoes made in the last few years (cause I'll agree there first generation of shoes went that great). If you have you'll know there cushioning they use which is called Micro G is a great foam based cushion system. With different version for different sports and different needs. For example in there Gemini series running shoes there one of the industry leaders. (Link: www.runnersworld.com/shoe/under-armour-speedform-gemini-mens).

So give Murray shoe a chance don't just write it off or pass along some second hand info cause it isn't a Nike, Adidas, etc shoe. Mark my words while it won't be for everyone it'll be a performance beast.

you live in Nor Cal so I would assume English is your native language ?? if it has better cushioning than Yonex Stan shoes, I would buy it for sure.... does it ?

Tennis shoes aren't exactly rocket science, especially if you take durability out of the equation as that seems hard to achieve for most manufacturers.

It is actually second to Italian, if you must know. But I do apologize for the grammatical errors, written on my phone whIle working. I do take it you were able to get the point I was making were you not?

I own both the new Curry shoe, as well as the ClutchFit Drive, the basketball shoe that Murray's new shoe is modeled after, and they're both incredible. Cushioning is great too, way better than any tennis shoes, so I would think if most of the same technology is used in Murray's shoes, they should be pretty well cushioned and supportive.

I wonder if they essentially reverse engineered the Barricade 8. If so, I would not be interested. But if a new model, I could be tempted. Given Under Armour tends to put Murray in boring colors, there probably won't be a loud enough version for me.

Marray will probably be rather loud for USO series. Especially if he wins Wimbeldon.

Okay that outsole and heel cushioning is STRAIGHT Barricade 8. Minus the claw pieces. But even the claw idea at the toe is still there. A FAR cry from the "under armour" shoes he was using at Madrid

This is accurate. He is basically wearing a UA version of the B8, with a clutchfit upper piece that seems to be Under Armour's work. Sad that UA couldn't be more innovative. Maybe they're just trying to slowly pry Andy from the adidas look/feel

I dont think it is a bad thing since I found the B8's to be incredibly stable (best Ive experienced), they just lacked comfort and the heel had some funny stuff. UA can't develop a completely innovative shoe for murray as his game is so barricade conditioned... so an incremental approach works.

Besides, Ive rarely seen a fully innovative shoe that wasnt massively flawed.

I know you can patent technology in a shoe even specific material but not sure you could do so with an outsole and while it does share a lot of the same look it is different enough. If it didn't have the "claw" I don't think it would look like it at all.

I find it hard to believe that UA won't be under some legal trouble if they try and release this shoe with a barricade last. That seems SO illegal

Why would they even want to copy the Barricade 8 ??? That is the worst shoes ever created in history of tennis

Good point..... I actually own a pair of clutch fit drive basketball shoes (the original UA shoe Andy tested), and I heavily prefer that shoe to the B8 in every way. I mean every way. Traction, full-length micro g cushion, heel lockdown.. Luckily UA has convinced Andy to roll with the clutch fit upper, that's a good start.

Show me another brand's imitation of that Nike shoe which is as egregious as the UA copy of the Barricade.

I can't think of a single one this blatant. One could argue that the Adidas Adizero Feather 2 was completely ripped off by HEAD Tennis with the successive production of the HEAD Sprint Pro shoes. Everything seems identical, even down to the outsole traction, last, cushion, upper shape/material, and even the color schemes.

How do you feel about Andy opting to use a different cushion tech over micro G???

Looks like in the new B8 version, that they did away with micro G, and perhaps added charged foam or a different EVA midsole compound...

Will be wild to try the Murray signatures out when they finally get that through production/marketing/distribution/etc...

UA's remit is to provide a highly bespoke solution to Murray, so if Murray said he likes the soles of B8 then that is what they will provide him. If you look at the press quotes, it's pretty clear Murray has had a lot of input with the shoes.

If they ever have a retail product, be sure it will be nothing like what Murray actually uses.

Pretty much this - it's in UA's interest to get Andy into their own brand as soon as possible, especially with Wimbledon coming up. The easiest way to achieve this seems to have been to basically cannibalise the B8's and slap some logos on them - nothing to say that this will make it to the retail version, but it means their player is at least on brand and happy

Settle down, guys. That outsole isn't all that original, even from Adidas. Nike started it back in the late '80's.

Thank you for saying it. It's true... the fact that Andy is playing well means the ua shoe was going to look a bit like the B8. They can continue to tweak it and his actual signatures will look different as it continues to develop.

Too bad stan has cornered the plaid market. .. perhaps andy is relieved!

I don't actually mind if they're opting for charged cushioning instead of micro G, between the Curry's, which use charged cushioning, and the ClutchFit Drive (which uses micro G), the Curry's are much better cushioned.

What about the charged makes it a step up from Micro G?? I have fallen in love with micro G, while I prefer Nike foam to any other, and I have worn my clutch fit drives frequently for a light hit on the tennis court. While I would love to try the UA SC1, it runs at about $200-300 per pair on the big auction site.

I might go ahead and pull the trigger on the UA SC1 Low, which has charged cushion and a low top ankle collar :

I would definitely buy some Curry's if you have the option, they're amazing. As for the charged cushioning, I find that it starts out firmer than micro G, but eventually softens up to the point of being much gentler on the joints than micro G, but in my experience thus far it has never softened up to the point of not giving a firm responsive foundation. The charged cushioning definitely feels better than Nike shoes in my experience, I used to use my Courtballistecs as basketball shoes until I got the Curry's and ClutchFits and my knees, hips and ankles would all get really sore as a result.
Also, I don't know if they're gonna do this with the Curry 1 Low's, but UA decided to make the Curry's all a limited release, so if you're a big Curry fan, or just want some sweet basketball shoes, I'd suggest pulling the trigger on the Low's at some point.

Glad to hear that the charged cushion softens over time, I had heard a lot of guys say that it was stiffer than MicroG, which scared me off. How many iterations of the CB did you use? My favorite was the 2.3 in terms of cushion, Lunar/Max Air combo is really soft.

I didn't realize UA made all of the SC1's a limited release. That's a bummer. They're trying to match the exclusivity of Nike signatures is a poor call. They would triple revenues if they let people have a chance to buy them, even in just a basic blue/gold colorway.... I'll be sure to post a review of the SC1 low on the tennis court when I snag a pair, the release is next week I believe.

Chezbeeno, how do you feel about the anafoam upper? Would that material translate well onto the tennis court?

Seems a bit soft/delicate just in my observations

I've used every generation of the Ballistecs except the current 1.5's, and the 3.3's and Lunar Ballistecs were my favorites. The Curry's definitely have better cushioning than the 4.3's, which I've used most recently.
The anafoam upper gives amazing support, and I think it would work well for tennis as long as you aren't the kind of player who slides on the sides of your shoes a ton.
The guy I talked to at UA said they're doing the limited release stuff with the Curry's to match the original hype of the first Air Jordans, which seems like a pretty good plan if you ask me. Yeah it's hard to find them right now, but I'm sure it'll make the Curry 2's sell a lot better, and at the very least, UA hasn't upped the price of their limited releases like Nike has, the Curry's have all been $120, which is pretty awesome.

Great to hear that Anafoam is a supportive option. UA seems to be on the right track with the Curry signature series, and the low price points are crucial for athletes that actually use the shoe for performance purposes (as oppossed to collectors). I find it odd that UA opted not to continue with the Anafoam/charged cushion for the Curry 2.

Looks as if they decided to use a plastic/synthetic-fuse material for the upper, and I can't make out what the cushion system might be, decent looking kicks though:

Yeah the Curry 2's don't rub me quite the same way that the 1's do, it is hard to make out what they're made from, but considering the overwhelmingly positive reception of the 1's makes it odd that they would make really serious changes, but whatever, I'm still way more likely to get these and support Steph and UA than get any Nike shoes.
