Do you have problems wearing different brands of apparel at the same time?

E.g, adidas shirt with nike shorts coupled with NB shoes. I would really love to mix and go (due to practical reasons) but the non uniformity kinda ticks me off.

I think I have a OCD issue here :(

Any ways to fix this?

Yes, it's a bit of OCD. I used to have a similar issue. Most of my apparel is Asics, which was due to basing it around my preferred tennis shoe (Asics Gel Res). Best way to overcome this is to mix in some non-branded apparel or apparel with small or non-visible logos. Also focus more on your game as opposed to your on-court style.

Good luck!

During my teen years, sure. As an adult, not so much.

The only time where brand uniformity was necessary, was when I was running late to a tournament and I walked on with a Nike shoe on my right foot and New Balance on my left. o_O

I have no problem with the mix and match! Even if the colors don't match perfect, I claim that it was intentional!

And I can honestly say that I normally do not even notice what my opponent is wearing, and I am very proud of that.

What kind of Barbie dolls are you guys?

A bit earlier today, I played wearing Fila hat, Adidas shirt, Reebok shorts, Hilfiger socks, Loto shoes and Uniqlo wristband.
All I care is that the colors are not grossly mismatched. Sometimes not even that, if I'm out of enough clean stuff...

Oh, I almost forgot, I had Champion underwear and Maui Jim shades ;)

When I was a teen... Now, I just about put on anything loose and comfortable. I just make sure to buy everything in either white and/or black.

Anything that would not be out of place on a tennis court or clubhouse whether they match or not. Champion, Nike, Asics, Reebok shorts with any clean Tee or polo from Ross or Marshalls. Shoes would be KSwiss, Wilson, NB, Prince, Reebok. But nothing matches, and of that fact, I am inordinately proud. :D

Sounds like you will never get a date with Barbie dressed like that.

Hmm, I married one, 20 years ago. It turned out she didn't have only the Barbie looks, but also the brain of a scientist. Maybe that's why she went for me, in despite of the clothing...

There are couple of things to consider.

1. color match
2. brand match.
3. Brand and color match
4. Wears exactly like pros

4 is extreme case hahaha.
Since I have tons of apparels and shoes, I usually go by 2 or 3.

Yes, unless brand doesn't make good shoes.

Shoes and socks must match though even if you are wearing a different brand shirt and shorts.

I always mix brands. Don't want to look tacky by wearing just one brand.
Right now am wearing a Rolland Garros black Adidas shirt, and a Nike cap, Nike shorts and Adidas shoes with black Nike socks.
Okay, I mix Nike and Adidas mostly because those are the shops I have here, and I don't really care about Puma or Reebok.

I wear Nike shoes, head and\or wilson wrist sweat bands, Babolat head sweat band. Shorts I dont remember the brand and random shirt\polo

Harmony in colors is sometimes an argument. but never brand...

One should excercise reasonably adequate taste in outfits.

Nonos for me:

Guys wearing kits that look like they have been picked up by a blind person.

Guys looking sloppy as though they are coming from the gym.

Exalted guys trying to match everything a pro would currently wear.

Yes to coordination between shirt and shorts (preferably one in neutral colour or complimenting but not exactly matching).

Yes to shoes different than the outfit.

Yes to accessories different than both outfit and shoes, but matching the shoes is nice.

And, for heaven's sake, get a matching bag for your racquets.

I get so much crap for having a Babolat bag and Head racquets.

For any given match I'll be wearing Asics GRs; Wilson, Champion, Adidas or Fila shorts, whatever is under $20; Champion, Fila, cheap Adidas, Nike RF (a gift) or UA shirts, the latter I spent a bunch on but they have my school's logo (and still cost less than Nike RF); playing with Prince racquets that I pull out of a Pacific bag. Shoes matter, the rest of what I wear doesn't.

Wearing one brand only makes you tacky now? Lol I'm so glad I didn't grow up in the 50s.

Prefer brands that don't make shoes in general. But only nike shoes with nike clothes. OCD, and reflective of my nike whoredom growing up.

All the people saying yes are those hackers you see at your courts wearing Roger Federer's full outfit. You look like a dolt being a walking billboard if you aren't a professional player.

I have one rule, never wear Adidas with Nike.

But then Adidas is garbage so it's no burden to stay away from their gear.

I couldn't care less about matching the brands I wear. I do care about color matching and even that is not to perfection. However, I can't stand wearing any nike or adidas logo on my apparel. Nowadays it seems that everybody and their mothers wear nike!

Why not ? I mix A and N all the time.

About Adidas being garbage, actually in my city Adidas has very conservative, classic designs which I find easy to wear. Nike has freaked out designs with pinks and purples and oranges and what not. Although, different Nike outlets here have different offerings, but the closest to me was quite outlandish. I'm 50, and i really cant wear a rainbow of colours.

I don't mind subtle/small logos. But those t-shirts or bags that have large screaming logos are an eyesore.

That said, I really crave an RF t-shirt.

To me they just don't go together …nike just looks wrong with the 3 stripes.

Adidas is garbage to me though because of their products…last 3-4 pairs of their shoes I purchased were awful, even got PF from a pair of barricades.

Nike & Asics have never given me a single problem.

+1 for mixing matching.

Typically I wear Adidas or Asics shoes Nike 1/2 cushioned training socks and any combination of Nike and Adidas shorts. Shirts are exclusivly Uniqlo or Under Armour moisture wicking fabrics and hats when im inclined is Nike.

All that said colors usually match as most of my athletic clothes are black, grey, or navy with the shoes usually being loud. Haha.

For me, Adidas shoes are good quality, they last, but I get Achilles problems from them, for some reason... maybe that pronounced sole overhang beyond the heel...
Nike shoes are garbage, uncomfortable and dont last. One Nike shirt I've got is great, though.

Interesting thread. It really highlights the ever encroaching consumerism and power of branding.

I bet you 15-20 years ago no man would have given a flying ****. Also all of the clothes would have been white 20 years ago.

Even sexy lady's show designers such as Louboutin have men's collections these days. It's a crazy old world!

i never used to care.. but i have become a nike only guy due to two factors.. the nike warranty on shoes, and the $10 gift cards for filling out online surveys.. i have been claiming the 6 month warranty on the outsole on nikes for 5-6 years and stockpiled 15 pairs of unworn shoes in that time.. in fact i stopped using the voucher for shoes and have been getting tons of other items for the court. the $10 gift card deal has been the last 6-8 months... and that has been really great. elite socks, shorts, shirts, sweat bands, hats, and the occasional cage or lunar ballistic.. and with every purchase or return for that matter comes a new survey and it just keeps repeating. i go twice a week and try to spend as little as possible.. buying clearance items and shaving $10 off that price has filled my closet and tennis bag to the exclusion of any other competitor. i don't even shop anywhere else anymore.

Yeah.... remove all the logos or cover over them with your own using heat press transfer paper with your own design on it.

All adidas clothes head to toe...
Adidas shoes however were too uncomfortable, so Asics it was.

Matching clothes always including sweatbands.....
Also used to match overgrips but now just stick to black overgrips. Only bc they don't make my colors anymore.:(

Match outfit consists of yellow top, red shorts, yellow & red Asics SS2, red/yellow Aero Pro Drive. All other tennis outings are whatever I have in the drawer....

And yes I'm OCD. :D

It is interesting.

Some people claim that they wouldn't wear matching clothes, because they are not paid to look like walking billboards.

How the hell do they think they look when walking in even more logos?

Like they don't care about duplicating the image of their tennis hero. Especially if there's some unbranded stuff, or non tennis specifuc stuff in the mix.

Matching must be a younger generation thing. I'm older; is it clean, does it fit, is it comfortable. I would bet that hardly ever are two parts of my clothing of the same brand because I don't really give it any thought.
