Post tennis food

Sometimes during the week, I don't get off the courts until 9:30-10:30pm...by the time I get home, I'm hungry but I don't want to eat a whole meal that late in the evening. What are some smart choices for this?

Also, what are your favorite meals post-tennis ?

I favor a light, nutritious snack after a late night tennis session.

That late at night is NOT the time to eat heavy. Eat what I would consider a light breakfast and wash it down with water, lemonade or fruit juice. If you don't want to eat breakfast, go for a sandwich like a cheese lettuce and tomato. However, having said this, I can be like post #2 and just do pancakes and maybe 2 slices of bacon [in moderation], not the 5# package shown :p. There's a 24 hour Mels Drive In in my city.

That late, try a 2 cups of Cottage Cheese mixed with Peanut butter, and some Glutamine.....Will give your muscles the protein they need for recovery, and will be filling without being overwhelming....Oatmeal is a good quick meal to have as well, just mix in some protein

But, I don't practice what I preach I often times have a beer and call it a night ha ha....

A protein shake with a little fruit added. Protein for muscle recovery, and fruit to replace your lost glycogen and for muscle recovery as well.

Cheese and sometimes an orange, at least of late that has been my post hitting meal. Candy corn is good too.

There is no reason why you shouldn't eat a whole meal late in the evening. Humans are supposed to have their main meal in the evening anyway...
Personally I would have a steak cooked rare in some beef fat, with some sauteed mushrooms finished with tamari and some roast potatoes.
With an arugula salad dressed in a 50/50 mix of fresh lemon juice and honey, with a touch of extra virgin olive oil and some crushed garlic.
To drink, juice or some beer would be fine.

Eating very late at night is probably not ideal. If you could try and work out how to get off court earlier would be a start.
That being said when I get home from coaching I generally go for something that's easy to prepare and not too heavy like a Greek yoghurt with blueberries or a pumpkin soup with some toast.
